"NATE, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" evangeline's brother, dylan, yelled at his friend.
evangeline, dylan, and nate were all hanging out in the living room of the martinez residence. evangeline was slouching on the large, soft L shaped couch that was adorned with holiday themed pillows and throw blankets in the living room. about two feet away from her were dylan and nate, staring at the television screen that was mounted up on the wall in front of them.
nate handed over the playstation control to dylan. the two were taking turns playing fortnite on the tv with the other occasionally commentating on the game. nate's character had just died in the video game, which was what dylan was shouting about.
"can you not yell so loud?" evangeline took her eyes off her phone to side-eye her older brother.
"my fault." his eyes are glued onto the television screen.
evangeline shook her head and reverted her attention back to her phone. "oh, xochitl's coming over after she's done with practice by the way."
"okay, that's cool." dylan responded, his mind too preoccupied by the tense game before him.
"so," nate scooted an inch down the couch towards evangeline. the slight move did practically nothing to close the gap between him and eva. "you really can't give me margot robbie's number?"
"no!" eva looked at him and furrowed her eyebrows like the answer should've been obvious. "get over your crush on her. she's out of your league, married, and too old for you."
"hater."
"maybe if you knew how to spell gorgeous, i wouldn't be such a hater." eva shrugged.
"i know how to spell gorgeous."
"do it, then."
nate's eyes shifted upwards as he thought about it, "g-o-r-g..."
evangeline spoke during his silence, "yeah, that's what i thought." dylan started laughing as his fingers moved precisely on the controller. he may have been focused on his game, but he wasn't deaf.
"bro." he commented, trying to compose himself.
"the two of you are fucked up. you guys know i'm dyslexic." nate replied, which made his two friends laugh even more. a smile even started to grow on nate's face after a few seconds because the martinez siblings' laughters were just so contagious.
