JULES AND NICK WE GETTING READY to hang out with sophia. it has been over a week since jules had first talked to her. they have been texting each other fairly frequently, after sophia gave jules her phone number instead of instagram dms.
which was a green flag for jules, because that's how matt and her first started talking. she followed him on instagram, and then after a bit he gave her his number instead. ever since, she's preferred to use text messages over anything else.
"so, is there anything i should probably know about sophia before i meet her?" nick came out into his room from the bathroom, a different outfit than he had on seven minutes ago. he had changed three times already today.
"hmm..." jules tried to think really hard about everything she's gathered about sophia in the last week. "not really, that i know of at least. i know she likes to go by soph, but i don't know if that applies to newer people." she says "newer people" as if she hadn't just met sophia as well.
"no worries, i'll figure it out."
"yes, you will." jules laughed while walking into the bathroom to brush her hair and teeth, nick joined a few minutes later.
he grabbed his comb out of the drawer, and started combing through his hair, "we actually haven't gone thrifting in a while."
jules sat and thought about the last time they had, and she could barely remember it was quite a bit ago. "wait... wasn't the last time like with matt and chris before you guys went to la?"
"yes! i remember!"
"i honestly wish i could go with you guys."
"me too. could you imagine us all in la? that would so fun." he laughed at the thought.
"i know, it's just a lot for me." jules wasn't the best when it came to dealing with her anxieties. so flying out across the country to somewhere she's never been before wasn't the best idea for her.
"i get it, you can't control how you react to stuff."
"maybe i'll go the next time?" she asked, wanting to know the next time they were planning on going.
"really?! you're gonna come with us?" nick sounded shocked and ecstatic at the same time.
"yeah, why not!" she decided to just say "fuck it" because she really wanted to experience all the fun they have had there, when she watched through a phone screen on the other side of the country.
there was also the fact that matt had successfully gone with them many times. which made her feel like if he could do it, so could she. that was one of the things that really bonded them together in the past. they had a lot of shared anxieties and especially going through high school together, they really needed someone to understand what they were going through. so they were always there for each other in that sense too.
"we were planning on going in the next few weeks, so that's perfect! i'm actually so excited now, oh my god!" he was watching jules finish putting on her mascara, as he already finished getting ready for their day out a little bit ago while they were talking.
jules finally got herself all put together, along with her hair now put in two quick braids (one done by her and the other by nick) as a last minute decision. right after she fastened the last elastic to the end of her braid, she got a quick text from sophia, informing jules and nick that she was a few minutes away.
before they could walk out the door, matt caught them. "where are you guys going?" it was at this moment that both of them realized they never told matt and chris a single word about this.
"oh... we were just heading to the thrift store." nick told him, definitely too late.
"how the fuck are you guys getting there?"
"i was gonna take your car." jules joked, getting a laugh from nick but a serious look from matt. he didn't want people, especially ones who just got their license, driving his car without him in it.
"yeah, no" he stated, knowing that she was joking because she would never drive his car without asking first.
"i'm kidding, someone is picking us up."
"yeah, and they're gonna be here like right now." nick chimed in, trying to get jules out the door.
nick was right because a few seconds after he said that, a car pulled into the driveway. a girl in the front seat, and it was definitely sophia.
"looks like they're here." matt pointed out the window to the unknown vehicle behind his own.
"bye!" jules gave him a quick hug to go along with the goodbye. and just before she walked out the door she made sure to get a favor, "tell chris i said bye too! and hug-"
"him for me, i know, i know. have fun guys." he finished her sentence as he grabbed the door to close it with a smile, which she returned.
normally jules would get pissed when people cut her off, but finishing her sentences was a completely different story in her books.
