A funeral for Dale was being held. His ass died last night and everyone was mourning. Camila, on the other hand was convinced she was psychic because that was the second person she foresaw dying
"Dale could- could get under your skin. He sure got under mine, because he wasn't afraid to say exactly what he thought, how he felt. That kind of honesty is rare and brave. Whenever I'd make a decision, I'd look at Dale. He'd be looking at me with that look he had. We've all seen it one time or another. I couldn't always read him, but he could always read us. He saw people for who they were. He knew things about us- the truth, who we really are. In the end, he was talking about losing our humanity. He said this group was broken. The best way to honor him is to unbreak it. Set aside our differences and pull together, stop feeling sorry for ourselves and take control of our lives. Our safety.. our future.. we're not broken, we're gonna prove him wrong. From now on we're gonna do it his way" Rick said
"No! No! No! Rick we'll all die! Actually.. correction, you're all gonna die because fuck that. 'The power of friendship will save us'" Camila said
"This is a funeral, come on, Cami" Glenn said. She stuck her tongue out before she cartwheeled away. Jesse sighed before going after her
"Why are you acting like this?" Jesse asked as Camila did backflips
"Acting like what? Myself? Um, I don't know, because that's who I am" She sang. Jesse sighed
"Dale died.. we need to mourn him" Jesse said
"I didn't mourn Amy, I didn't mourn Jim. I didn't mourn Merle. I definitely didn't mourn Ed or Shane. Didn't mourn Jacqui or Jenner. So why the fuck would I start now?" Camila asked. Jesse sighed
"I forget it's like talking to a wall" Jesse said
"A fun wall" Camila said with a cheeky grin. Jesse shook his head and smiled at her softly
Due to Dale's death. Everyone was to be moved into the house, and Camila was definitely not complaining. She was tired of sleeping outside
"Gonna be tight, 16 people in one house" Rick said
"Don't worry about that. With the swamp hardening, the creek drying up.." Hershel said
"With 50 head of cattle on the property, we might as well be ringing the damn dinner bell" Maggie explained. Camila's stomach grumbled
"Speaking of dinner, I'm hungry" Camila said
"We just ate breakfast" Daryl said
"So? A woman has cravings!" Camila defended. Glenn shook his head
"All right, let's move the vehicles near each of the doors facing out towards the road. We'll build a lookout in the windmill, another in the barn loft. That should give us sightlines on both sides of the property" Rick said
"Don't let Andrea be on guard. She might shoot your ass" Camila laughed
"Will you shut the hell up? I apologized to Daryl about that" Andrea said
"Blah, blah, blah. You're mistaking me for someone who gives a fuck" Camila said. Andrea balled up her fists before storming off. Camila and Glenn were walking to the house now
"You know since we're all in the house, we can't screw no more" Camila told Glenn. Glenn groaned
"We can use one of the cars" He responded
"Would love to, but I'm tired of car sex. Plus, the idea of Carl being in a car that we possible screwed in, makes me uncomfortable" Camila said as she shivered in disgust. Glenn's face became disgusted as well
"I didn't think about it like that, either" He said
It was dark out. Everyone was cooped up in the house
"Guys, let's play uno. I have a deck" Camila said as she pulled out a deck
"Well everyone will only have like 2 cards" Lori chuckled
"Okay? Uno is uno" Camila responded
"I'm down to play some uno" Jesse said
"Count me in too" Glenn said. Soon enough, everyone was playing uno. Camila put down a red 7
"Fuck me" T-Dog muttered as he drew a card. Next it was Andrea, who put down a green 7. Hershel was next, and he put down a green 4. Rick put down a green skip, making Lori lose her turn. Carl played a yellow 4. Daryl put down a yellow plus two, making Beth draw. Maggie put down a yellow 0
"Save my spot. I left something outside" Daryl muttered before he got up and left. Glenn placed as blue 0 down. Patricia put down a blue 2. Of course, the fun moment was ruined when Daryl came back in and alerted them of the undead threat. Apparently a hoard had graced them with its presence. Everyone went outside to see
"Patricia, kill the lights" Hershel whispered
"I'll get the guns" Andrea said
"Maybe they're just passing like the herd on the highway. Should we just go inside?" Glenn asked
"Do you not see how many of them, there are? They'd eat this house" Camila responded
"Cami's right. Unless there's a tunnel downstairs, we gotta go" Daryl responded
"Rick and Carl are gone" Lori said in horror
"Damn, they left us" Camila deadpanned
"They could be hiding" Glenn said
"Bitch why the fuck would Rick's grown ass be hiding?" Camila asked
"She's got a point" Jesse responded. Andrea pulled out some guns and everyone got one. Camila got a nice shot gun because she wanted it. Jesse picked out a pistol
"I got the number- but it's not use" Daryl said as he looked at the horde
"You can go if you want" Hershel said as he cocked his rifle
"You gonna take 'em all on?" Daryl asked
"We have guns. We have cars" Hershel said
"Hell yeah. It's time to slaughter some fuckers" Camila laughed out
"Kill as many as we can, and we'll use the cars to lead the rest of them off the farm" Andrea said
"Are you serious?" Daryl asked
"This is my farm. I'll die here" Hershel proclaimed
"All right. It's as good a night as any" Daryl said. Jesse chuckled
"Can't argue with that" Jesse responded. Glenn, Maggie, Jesse and Camila had all got into a car together. Maggie was driving as the other three stuck their guns out the window to shoot the undead fuckers. The others were in groups as well, using other vehicles to do the same thing. That's when they noticed the barn was on fire
"Damn, rip the barn" Camila said
"Somebody started that fire" Jesse said
"Was it Rick?" Glenn asked. They had gotten close enough to start shooting at the walkers. Camila shot at the walkers with her lovely shotgun. Jesse using the pistol in his hands
"Keep it steady!" Glenn yelled out as he also shot at walkers
"I'm trying!" Maggie yelled back. The trio kept firing at the walkers
"My kill count is gonna skyrocket after tonight" Camila said as she laughed
"Not the time!" Glenn yelled at her
"Oh the world's gone to shit, when is it ever the time?" Camila asked
"She's got a point" Jesse said
"Your ability to make everything unserious, is truly impressive" Maggie said while she kept driving. Camila smirked as she shot another walker
"I take pride in that" Camila responded. They kept shooting but they weren't even making a dent. It was useless. Maggie noticed T-Dog's car driving off
"Where the hell are they going?" Maggie asked
"To Kentucky? I don't fucking know" Camila responded
"Thanks smart ass. Should I follow them?" Maggie asked
"I'd say yes. Swing it around. Swing it around here" Glenn replied as the trio of shooters were completely in the car, no longer shooting. However, they got stuck. Walkers were clawing at the windows trying to get to them
"Oh my God" Maggie breathed out as tears welled up in her eyes
"Damn, if I go out like this.. that'll suck" Camila said
"We're not dying here" Jesse proclaimed
"I can't get through, Jesse" Maggie cried
"I.." Jesse didn't know how to respond
"Head out" Glenn said. Maggie snapped her head towards him
"What?" She asked
"Get off the farm now" Glenn commanded. Maggie couldn't believe what she was hearing
"That's actually a really good idea" Camila said
"Don't say that" Maggie said
"Maggie, it's lost!" Glenn yelled at her
"Don't yell at her" Jesse told Glenn
"The others- we can't leave them" Maggie cried
"There will be no point if we're all dead" Camila reminded. Maggie turned to the front and screamed as walkers tried to eat the glass like the fucking dumbasses they were. She put the car in reverse and slammed on the gas, getting away from the walkers
"Get off the farm now!" Glenn commanded. Maggie revved the engine as she put the car in drive. She slammed on the gas and drove off. They left the farm, unsure of if anyone else was alive
The sun was beginning to rise as Maggie continued driving. Camila had no idea where they were, mostly because she had fallen asleep. She was woken up by Maggie's cries
"Oh my God. Oh my God" Maggie cried out
"All right, let's just- let's just circle back to the highway" Glenn said
"Did you guys see my dad? Did- Did he make it? Did you see?" Maggie asked
"Nope" Camila responded
"I couldn't see anything" Glenn responded
"Maggie, I'm sorry" Jesse said
"And Beth- I lost Beth. We've gotta go back there" Maggie said
"Woah, we are not going back" Camila said
"But Beth-" Maggie was cut off
"We can't go back, okay? There's nothing to go back to" Glenn said
"We hav-" Maggie was cut off again
"I-I-I think she was with Lori" Glenn said
"Did they make it?" Maggie asked
"Nobody fucking knows, Maggie. If we did, we would tell you" Camila said
"Patricia? Jimmy? Otis? What if they didn't make it? What if nobody made it?" Maggie asked
"They made it, okay? They had to" Glenn responded
"Well, technically-" Camila was cut off as Jesse smacked her over the head
"They're all fine" Jesse reassured Maggie
"All right, let's just circle around to the highway where we left supplies for Sophia" Glenn told her. Maggie shook her head
"No, the herd came from that direction" Maggie cried. Glenn looked at Maggie and could see she was hysterical
"Just stop. Stop the car. Stop the car" Glenn told her. Maggie sniffled as she did just that
"Get in the back with Jesse. Camila come up here" Glenn said
"You want me to drive?" Camila asked with a wide grin
"Um, hell no!" Jesse responded
"Look, we did not survive that, just to die with Camila behind the wheel. So, no. You're in the passenger seat. I'm driving" Glenn said. Maggie got out of the driver's seat and sat in the back besides Jesse, where he comforted her. Camila moved to the passenger seat while Glenn got in the driver's seat. Jesse wrapped his arms around Maggie as she sobbed into his shoulder. He ran his fingers through her hair
"Women, am I right?" Camila joked. Nobody laughed. "Tough crowd"
Jesse shook his head before he placed a soft kiss onto Maggie's forehead. She had calmed down a little by this point
The tiny group had made it to that highway where they had originally lost Sophia. Along the way, T-Dog's truck had started following them, and Daryl's motorcycle behind the blue truck. Everyone got out of their cars and reunited. Maggie rushed over to her father and hugged him. Beth quickly running over to join the hug
"See, and they all lived happily ever after" Camila narrated
"Where'd you find everyone?" Rick asked
"Well, those guys' tail lights zigzagging all over the road- figured he had to be Asian driving like that" Daryl joked
"Wow" Camila said as Glenn chuckled
"Good one" He responded
"Where's the rest of us?" Daryl asked
"We're the only ones who made it so far" Rick said
"Andrea?" Glenn asked
"She saved me, then I lost her" Carol admitted
"We saw her go down" T-Dog said
"Patricia? Otis?" Hershel asked
"They got 'em too, took 'em right in front of me. I was- I was holdin' onto Patricia, daddy. She just- and he-" Beth couldn't continue as she sobbed. "What about Jimmy? Did you see Jimmy?"
"He was in the RV. It got overrun" Rick said
"You definitely saw Andrea?" Carol asked
"There were walkers everywhere" Lori said
"That did not answer the question" Camila said. Lori didn't respond
"I'm gonna go back" Daryl declared
"No" Rick said
"We can't just leave her" Daryl said
"Um, yes we can. She's a bitch who shot you and let Beth cut herself" Camila reminded. Lori gave Camila a look before shaking her head
"Disregarding what Camila just said. We don't even know if she's there" Lori said
"She isn't there. She isn't. She's somewhere else or she's dead. There's no way to find her" Rick said
"So we're not even gonna look for her?" Glenn asked
"And risk the herd?" Jesse asked
"Jesse's right. We gotta keep moving. There have been walkers crawling all over here" Rick said
"I say head east" T-Dog spoke up
"Stay off the main roads. The bigger the road, the more walkers, more assholes like this one. I got him" Daryl said before he shot a walker with an arrow. So it was decided. The group left, not even looking for Andrea, as they moved on
They had been driving away until a truck horn was heard, causing the caravan to stop. Everyone exited their respective vehicles
"You out?" Daryl asked
"Running on fumes" Rick replied
"We can't stay here" Maggie said
"We can't all fit in one car" Glenn explained
"Then we march on our feet!" Camila declared
"No. We'll have to make a run for some gas in the morning" Rick said, shutting down Camila. It seems people were always shutting her down
"Spend the night here?" Carol asked unsure
"I'm freezing" Carl said as Lori tried to warm her only son up
"We'll build a fire, yeah?" Lori asked
"You go out looking for firewood, stay close" Daryl warned
"We could sleep in the trees" Camila said
"I can't climb a tree" Jesse responded. Camila put a hand on Jesse's shoulder
"I'm afraid it's survival of the fittest. Natural selection" Camila told him. He gave her a playful glare
"Damn, that's cold" He said as she laughed
"How yall doing on ammo?" Daryl asked
"Not enough" Rick said
"We can't just sit here with our asses hanging out" Maggie said as Camila walked over to Glenn and made him wrap his arms around her, since she was feeling cold
"Watch your mouth. Everyone stop panicking and listen to Rick" Hershel said
"I'm not panicking" Camila said
"Yeah, we know" Lori replied with an attitude
"All right, we'll set up a perimeter. In the morning, we'll find gas and some supplies. We'll keep pushing on" Rick said
"Glenn and I can go make a run now, try to scrounge up some gas" Maggie said but Rick shut her down
"No, we stay together. God forbid something happens and people get stranded without a car" Rick said
"Rick, we're stranded now" Glenn said
"I know it looks bad, we've all been through hell and worse, but at least we found each other. I wasn't sure- I really wasn't- but we did. We're together. We keep it that way" Rick spoke. Camila felt moved by the man's words
"I'll be voting Rick for the 2012, presidential election!" Camila said as she saluted the officer. Jesse sighed and shook his head
"Okay, well. We'll find shelter somewhere. There's gotta be a place" Rick said, sounding desperate
"The trees" Camila whispered
"Rick, look around. Okay? There's walkers everywhere. They're migrating or something" Glenn tried to explain
"There's gotta be a place not just where we hole up, but that we fortify, hunker down, pull ourselves together, build a life for each other. I know it's out there. We just have to find it" Rick growled out
"Even if we do find a place and we think it's safe, we can never be sure. For how long? Look what happened with the farm. We fooled ourselves into thinking it was safe" Maggie said
"We won't make that mistake again" Hershel replied
Night had fallen and the group had set up camp. Carol was trying to get Daryl to leave with her. She didn't trust Rick. Camila was laying her head in Glenn's lap as she tried to sleep. Jesse was next to Maggie as the two had their arms around each other trying to stay warm. Rick had come out saying that Jenner told him that they're all infected, and it doesn't matter how you die. You still turn. It was wild
"I think we should take our chances" Maggie told Jesse
"Don't be foolish" Hershel told his daughter. "There's no food, no fuel, no ammo"
The leaves rustled causing everyone to freak out. People were talking about leaving
"The last thing we need is for everyone to be running off in the dark. We don't have the vehicles. No one's traveling on foot" Rick said
"Don't panic" Hershel warned
"I'm not- I'm not sitting here, waiting for another herd to blow through. We need to move, now" Maggie declared
"No one is going anywhere" Rick said
"Do something" Carol told him.
"I am doing something! I'm keeping this group together, alive. I've been doing that all along, no matter what. I didn't ask for this" Rick started leaving everyone speechless. "Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead. I say there's a place for us, but maybe- maybe it's just another pipe dream. Maybe- maybe I'm fooling myself again. Why don't you- why don't you go and find out yourself? Send me a postcard. Go on, there's the door. You can do better? Let's see how far you get"
Nobody moved. Everyone who was talking shit earlier was real quiet now
"No takers? Fine. But get one thing straight- you're staying, this isn't a democracy anymore" Rick declared. Everyone was still in shock but Camila let out a laugh
"And thus begins the Ricktatorship!" Camila declared
