(Two weeks later)
Niki's pov
Our cohort had just finished off all our intense revisions and exams today. I felt so free when I stepped out of the classroom.
“Niki! It's over!!”
Daeun squealed beside me.
“Yea, I'm so relieved. Want me to treat you?”
I offered.
“Mm, I have a better idea. Let's go to my house”
She responded.
We walked there together and I was surprised when we entered the house. Her mother was in the kitchen cooking.
“Daeun, you're home! Give me a while more, I prepared your favourite for finishing the last paper today”
She shouted, focusing on chopping up some meat.
“Aah, Niki you better go”
Daeun slowly pushed me out of the house hurriedly.
“Wait what”
I tried to go back in, but I bumped my head on the door that slammed in front of me.
I accidentally miss a step and fall backwards, rubbing my forehead to soothe the pain.
“NIKI! ARE YOU OKAY?”
Daeun opened the door, looking at me anxiously.
“Daeun, do you have a guest over??”
I heard her mom yell again.
“NO!”
Daeun shut the door again.
I slowly brought myself up to my feet and just decided to go home. We live right next to each other anyway.
“Niki! I didn't realise my mom would be home early, but I still want to hang out. Please??”
She came running to me.
“I just fell, are you going to do anything about that?”
I sulked.
“Oh, I'm so sorry. I was just taken aback”
She dusted off my arms and examined my forehead.
“Your forehead is quite red”
She touched it and I flinched from the pain.
“Is it very painful? I need to put an ice pack before it worsens. Let's go”
Daeun grabs my wrist and pull me into her house.
“Oh, aren't you the neighbour?”
Her mom asked.
I nodded and bowed to her. Daeun was busy wrapping up some ice in a towel and brought it to the living room.
“There just hold it up for five minutes”
Daeun passed the ice pack to me as I sat down.
I did what she said and she noticed something I was wearing.
“Wait, is that my broken hair tie?”
She pointed to my wrist.
I taped the two ends together that day when she broke it and decided to keep it for myself to use. It's the only thing that I could keep that's from her.
“Oh, yeah”
I replied, feeling a tinge of embarrassment.
“I could just give a new one. Gosh, it looks so pathetically pieced back together”
Daeun laughed at it.
“No, I want to keep it. Anyway, I need the bathroom”
I pouted.
“It's down that hallway”
She pointed to the left.
“Okay thanks”
I stood up, bringing the homemade ice pack with me.
I decided to put it aside and hope the swelling would go down.
After I quickly used the bathroom, I walked out towards the living room just to be called back by Daeun's mom. She whisper-shouted my name and I followed her into the kitchen quietly.
“I heard you two finished your exams today, what brings you here?”
She asked with a polite smile, frying some meat.
“Oh I just wanted to hang out since we have so much free time. Are you okay with that, auntie?”
I asked.
“Of course dear. If you don't mind me asking, are you very close to Daeun? As far as I know, Sujae is her only close friend”
She said, looking up at me.
I almost wanted to slap myself for smiling so widely at her question.
“Why yes. Very close”
I answered back.
“Ahh, so you must be the one that invited her to the basketball tournament!”
Her tone turned excited.
“You know about that? But yes, I invited her”
I chuckled at her contentment.
“Sorry to ask, but are you perhaps…Daeun's-”
-Daeun's mom
“Niki? Why are you here?”
I turned around at her voice.
“Oh you. It's no harm to know my guest better. You've never told me you were close with our neighbour”
Her mom pursed her lips, flipping the meat to the other side.
“Eomma, you're frightening him. Look”
Daeun went to my side.
“Me? When? Was I making you nervous, Niki?”
The elder looked at me.
“Not at all auntie”
I waved my hands to reassure her.
Daeun hit me lightly on the arm, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion. I mirrored her actions to try and squeeze a smile out of her.
“So, Niki. Are you perhaps..her boyfriend?”
Her mom pointed to Daeun.
“Eomma!”
Daeun ran up and clinged onto her mom while whining, upset about her question.
“What's with you? It's okay to be open with your mother”
She quietly scolded Daeun, pushing off her hands.
“Sorry auntie, I should make sure my girlfriend is more well behaved”
I placed a hand on Daeun's waist and pulled her back against me.
“Ooo! My daughter has a boyfriend”
Her mom cooed, clapping her hands in delight.
“Niki!”
Daeun turned around and looked at me angrily.
I looked down and slightly pinched her nose to tease her. I grinned at her attempt to get revenge by hitting my arm.
Can this angry fluffball get any cuter?
“Niki, let's all have lunch together. It'll be a treat for finishing your final exams”
Her mom started plating all the dishes.
“I'd love to. Thank you so much”
I replied.
Daeun sighed in defeat while sitting down on the high chair. I sat beside her, looking at all the prepared dishes.
“No need to be shy, we have plenty. Please help yourself”
Her mom said and I nodded.
Daeun and I grabbed some food for ourselves and started eating. I complimented her mom's cooking and she smiled happily.
“Could you promise me one thing, Niki?”
She suddenly asked.
“Mhm. Anything”
I said.
“Could you take great care of Daeun? She can't handle pain”
-Daeun's mom
“What do you mean? Your daughter is strong”
Daeun huffed.
“I've heard you crying over dramas in your room, Daeun. Don't lie”
Her mom said nonchalantly.
I secretly laugh at the revelation.
“You heard?!”
She asked, looking stunned.
“Well, yes I'll take care of your daughter. No worries”
I told her mom calmly.
She patted my back and we finished eating our meal. Daeun invited me to her room and I sat down on her study chair while she sat on the bed, cross legged.
“Why did you have to call me your girlfriend in front of my mom? Now she will never stop asking about you”
She cupped her cheeks in her face.
“Someone is cranky”
I grinned.
“What did you even say? ‘I'll take care of your daughter’. I can take care of myself”
She imitated me.
As she was busy mocking me, I walked over and sat on her bed.
“So childish”
I put my hand on her chin, leaning in.
I laid my lips on her and kissed her slowly. She kissed back, brushing our lips together with serenity surrounding us.
The way she makes me feel about her is beyond incomprehensible.

A/n: Sorry, didn't post yesterday because I needed to process that comeback. I loved it.
At first I felt that mortal, orange flower and blind would be my favs, and I was so right. I can't even decide which one I like best because they're all so good in they're own ways even if they're all my taste.
