"Dee!" Jelly storms into my room. I groan and pull the covers over my head
"Get up, todays the day. You said you would go see him last week"
"I don't know what to say" I sigh and pull my bonnet off to scratch my scalp
"Figure it out, it gets worse the longer you wait"
I sigh, lifting from the bed and walking to my bathroom
Dee
hey, r u busy today?

i really would like to speak

delivered 7:06am
"He's not responding so I can't just pop up," I yell through the bathroom door to Jelly
"Get ready, get him breakfast, and get your ass over there before yo momma come in here and beat you"
I roll my eyes and mock her before getting in the shower

After a knock and a moment of patience, the door swings open. Melo stands in his foyer shirtless in basketball shorts
"Good morning," I smile and hold out the bag of donut holes to him
"I'm not in the mood for you, I'm not gon lie" he begins to close the door
"Wait! Melo, please just here me out" I stick my foot out the stop the closing door and squeeze my way into the house
He sighs and begins walking upstairs
"I have issues with people," I begin
"I know" he walks to his room and lets me in before closing the door
"I don't like letting people in or getting to know new people. I've never had to share with others, never had to sacrifice parts of myself and my customs for others. I've never been in a healthy relationship and the idea of marriage scares me because it conflicts with all of these things. I'm scared, Melo. I really am and I'm sorry I took that out on you, I blamed you for the arrangement and I thought down upon you, simply because we come from different backgrounds and I couldn't see you're perspective and I didn't care"
"Well aren't you a great person" he mumbles. He takes the donut holes from me and sits in his gaming chair to eat them
"But I realized how rude and selfish that was of me, you gave up a lot to adhere to this arrangement and I'm sorry you had to do that. I can see it from your perspective now and I completely understand why you left me. I'm sorry that I spoke to you poorly and constantly picked at you"
Melo huffs, scrolling through his timeline
"Melo?"
"Oh my gosh," Melo stands and towers over me
"I'm not gon do this with you, I been liked you n you don't care. So, from now on we could do the relationship in public, plan the wedding, whatever. I'm not finna be friends with you" he says
"You never told me you liked me"
"I told you in high school, ain't shit change. But it's coo, don't worry about it" he tries to push past me
"You never said that. I would have at least tried to work it out if I knew you wanted it"
"I'm not finna force you to like me, Dee. If youn feel it then you don't feel it. It's coo"
I sigh, turning my attention to my shoelaces
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't have some type of feelings for you. You're not ugly, you just make me nervous and I don't know if I like that feeling"
Melo sighs and looks away.
"You gotta work with me Dee. I'm not gon argue with you everyday or beg you to put in effort"
"I know, I'm going to do better. Promise"
We sway for a few moments before he pulls away
"I promise I'm gonna give you more energy, Melo" I rub his back before he kisses my forehead and smiles
"Let's see where this goes"
