it started with three lies her parents
told her.
it started when her parents told her,
that they didnt care what she studied;
that they would be happy no matter what
she did.
that was the first lie they told her. they
wanted her to go into the medical field,
but thats not what she wanted to do.
[name] has always loved music,
from the way it sounded, to the
rhythm of the song.
she believed what her parents said,
i mean— they bought her all of the
instruments she wanted to learn.
they paid for her lessons, what else
would that mean?
apparently, they thought it was a
'phase' — that it was going to go
away in a few years.

YOUNG [NAME]

her mother laughed at her face,
not seeing the shocked face on
her 12 year old daughters face.

his voice became louder. this caused
[name] to flinch, she never liked it
when her parents yelled at her. she
felt as if she was disappointing them,
and she didnt want that.
they knew this, of course, and they
took it to their advantage.
when they saw her eyes wide, tears
forming on the corners of her eyes,
they couldnt help but feel .. guilty?

im sorry, [name], but you know i
only want whats best for you, right?

in medicine. she wanted to save
people with music, as cringe as

thats great, honey!
[name]s mother exclaimed, acting as
if none of that happened.
[name] could only smile at her mothers
sudden happiness. if being a doctor
makes her parents happy, then she will
become a doctor.

she could continue to practice music.

to pay for her piano lessons, she felt
happy.
she felt like her parents understood
her love and passion for music, but
