『𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧: 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭』

Widow gracefully ascends the side of the towering building, her movements a dance of calculated agility. "Kingpin!" Her voice echoes through the roof as she spots the imposing figure on the opposite side, his demeanor exuding fury.

With determination etched on her face, Widow propels herself into action, sprinting toward the brooding Kingpin. As if in sync with her advance, Kingpin pounds the ground, sending a cascading wave of shattered glass hurtling towards Widow. Swift and nimble, she evades the deadly shards just in the nick of time.

In a sudden twist, Kingpin draws a menacing firearm, unleashing a barrage of bullets in Widow's direction. Yet, Widow becomes a blur, effortlessly sidestepping each projectile. "Nope!" she retorts, deploying a silk-like web that snags Kingpin's weapon, yanking it away with finesse. "Sorry! That's cheating," she adds with a wry smile, her eyes locked on the disarmed Kingpin.

A mysterious train materializes, hovering above Widow and Kingpin. Undeterred, Kingpin seizes the opportunity to launch an aggressive assault on Widow.

"Slán," Widow murmurs, shooting a web at the passing train and allowing it to whisk her away from Kingpin's impending attack. The train maneuvers wildly through the air, and Widow clings to its side, eyes fixed on a crucial hatch that could dismantle the collider.

"I need to get to that button," she whispers to herself, determination fueling her resolve. Suddenly, Kingpin intervenes, snatching Widow and hurling her across the carriage. Their skirmish unfolds within the confined space of the speeding train, and Kingpin gains the upper hand, slamming Widow to the floor.

As she struggles to rise, Kingpin seizes the opportunity, grabbing her by the neck and pinning her against the carriage wall. "Not so easy doing it on your own; is it?" he sneers, his grip tightening, challenging Widow in the heart of their high-speed confrontation.

"I can't wait to kill you, Spider-woman," Kingpin seethes, fists tightly clenched. The train hurtles towards the beam, and just as he moves in for the final strike against Widow, a familiar voice disrupts his focus.

Startled, he turns to see his wife, Vanessa, and his son, Richard. However, the surreal sight unfolds as multiple versions of them flicker in and out of existence.

"What?" Kingpin mutters, bewildered. Widow gazes at these alternate iterations of Kingpin's family.

"Is this what you want, bro?" she murmurs, challenging Kingpin to confront the consequences of his destructive path. The surreal presence of his family's phantoms hangs in the air, casting doubt on the path he's chosen.

"What are you doing?" Vanessa questions, her tone laced with concern.

"Vanessa," Kingpin responds, his voice almost a whisper, his attention divided between the real Vanessa and the spectral versions of his family. "Vanessa," he repeats, an internal struggle playing out as he contemplates the surreal scene.

"What are we doing here?" Richard, one of the alternate versions, inquires, confusion etched on his face. "I don't know, Richard," the real Vanessa replies, her gaze shifting anxiously, mirroring the uncertainty that permeates the ethereal convergence of realities.

"It's me. You know me," Kingpin insists, torn between the conflicting versions of reality.

"We're leaving now," Vanessa declares, ushering Richard away from the tumultuous encounter with Kingpin and Spider-Woman before fading from sight. The sudden disappearance prompts Kingpin to release his grip on Widow, desperation in his eyes.

"Stay with me," he pleads, chasing after the fading echoes of his alternate family. "Please," his plea hangs in the air, a plea for connection in the midst of a fractured reality.

As the train emerges from the beam, Widow bursts through the roof, determined. Kingpin follows suit, issuing a deathly stare. "You are not stopping this," he asserts with grim determination. "Not today!"

"I am stopping this. Right now!" Widow counters, unwavering in her resolve as she advances toward the formidable adversary.

Their clash intensifies, each blow echoing the stakes of their confrontation. Widow delivers powerful punches in an escalating struggle. Amid the chaos, Widow's dad enters the room, peering through a glass window to witness the fierce battle unfolding on the speeding train.

"I need backup!" he urgently broadcasts over the radio, his eyes locked on the spectacle of spider-woman confronting Kingpin in a high-stakes duel.

Kingpin seizes both of Widow's wrists, a vice-like grip causing them to sting. In that moment of pain, she glances to her right, spotting her dad watching the intense struggle unfold.

"Dad...?" she thinks, but her contemplation is abruptly interrupted by a forceful headbutt that sends her sprawling to the ground. "Agh!" she groans, feeling the impact. Determined, she shoots her webs towards a taxi car, yanking it towards Kingpin in an attempt to gain the upper hand. However, he catches the car and hurls it back at Widow.

The unexpected projectile sends Widow airborne, but her acrobatic instincts kick in. She manages to catch herself mid-air, swinging back around the train before landing on the side of a nearby building. The force of her counterattack knocks Kingpin off the train, momentarily shifting the momentum in Widow's favor.

Amid the descent, Widow and Kingpin exchange relentless punches, their clash echoing through the air until they finally land on a bridge emerging from the beam.

Widow rises slowly, her body bearing the toll of the intense battle, each movement marked by a slight tremor. Despite the pain coursing through her, she gazes upward, determination flickering in her eyes as she spots the crucial hatch that could unravel the catastrophic plans.

"Come on..." she mutters to herself, summoning the strength to stand once more, the weight of the moment urging her to press forward despite the aches and bruises.

Widow, fueled by determination, rises once more, ready to confront Kingpin. However, he swiftly pushes her down, mocking her resilience. Undeterred, Widow swiftly gets back on her feet, charging at Kingpin with renewed resolve.

But Kingpin seizes her wrists again, twisting them with a cruel force. "How pathetic," he sneers, delivering a punishing punch that sends Widow sprawling. He grabs her, lifting her into the air, and hurls her forcefully to the ground.

"You're nothing!" he roars, closing in on the battered Widow, who valiantly attempts to crawl away and fight back. Despite her efforts, Kingpin catches her foot, throwing it down with contempt. She continues to crawl until she reaches the edge.

"You took my family," Kingpin accuses, his words hanging heavy in the air. Widow turns to face him, attempting to shoot a web, but he catches it, yanking her towards him and delivering a brutal kick. "And now I'm gonna make sure you never see yours again," he declares, ominous determination in his voice, setting the stage for a final, intense showdown.

Kingpin's fists rain down on Widow, her body going limp, eyes closing. A moment of stillness follows as Kingpin stands over her, a victorious gaze fixed on his fallen adversary.

But then, against the odds, Widow slowly opens her eyes, a glimmer of resilience. She turns her head, catching a glimpse of her dad who watches with concern.

"Get up, Spider-woman," he whispers, urging her to rise. "Get up! Come on!" he continues, the plea growing more fervent as he observes Widow stir ever so slightly.

Summoning every ounce of strength, Widow manages to stand, albeit with a struggle. Her body leans forward, hand on her stomach, but she defiantly looks up at Kingpin.

"I'll always have my family," she declares, a testament to her unwavering spirit in the face of adversity.

"You ever hear of the shoulder touch?" Widow asks, a sly smile playing on her lips, leaving Kingpin bewildered and off guard. "What?" he responds, clearly confused.

Without hesitation, Widow places her hand on his shoulder. "Hey," she says, catching him off balance. Then, summoning every last bit of her energy, she spins Kingpin around in circles. With precision, she shoots her web at him, propelling him upward. As a final act of determination, she shoots another web, swinging him towards the crucial hatch that holds the fate of the collider.

As the beam intensifies, drawing everything that doesn't belong into its gravitational pull, Widow swiftly swings away, skillfully maneuvering through the chaos to avoid being inadvertently pulled into its ominous grasp. The cityscape around her is engulfed, buildings and vehicles disappearing into the voracious force of the beam. Widow focuses on evading the impending catastrophe, utilizing her agility to navigate the turbulent currents of the unfolding dimensional chaos.

BOOM!!

The room lies in ruins, and Widow, battered and coughing, lifts her mask to expel blood. With a deep breath, she pulls the mask back down, slowly rising from the wreckage.

"Fucking hell," she mutters, grappling with the aftermath of the night's chaos. As she attempts to swing away, an inexplicable force warps her ahead, causing her to stumble and fall.

"What the..?" she whispers, confusion etched across her face. She regains her footing, attempting to swing again, only to be subjected to another disorienting warp, leaving her questioning the surreal events unfolding around her.

Discovering her newfound ability to warp, Widow tests its limits by teleporting to various parts of the damaged room. Excitement flickers in her eyes as she realizes the extent of this unexpected power.

"This is so cool!" she exclaims, briefly reveling in the thrill of her newfound skill. However, mindful not to get too distracted, she quickly swings away, ready to explore the implications of her enhanced abilities in the aftermath of the intense encounter with Kingpin and the destabilized collider.

"Widow? Widow? Widow? You okay?" Widow's dad anxiously inquires as he answers the call, his voice laden with concern and a father's worry.

"Grand," Widow replies, observing her dad from the rooftop. "You're probably busy-"

"No no no no. I can talk," he reassures, the urgency in his voice revealing the depth of his concern for his daughter's well-being. Despite the chaos and challenges, the connection between them persists, providing a moment of relief in the aftermath of a tumultuous night.

"Listen. I just wanted to make sure you're safe," Widow's dad begins, the concern palpable in his voice. "It's been pretty hectic down here if I do say so myself," he adds, glancing at the chaotic scene around him. Widow chuckles.

"I can tell with the sounds of the sirens in the background," she says, lifting her mask up. She stands up and paces back and forth on the rooftop.

"Hey, so, I've got you something," he announces. Widow immediately becomes intrigued. "What is it?" she asks.

He chuckles, catching the excitement in his daughter's voice. "I've got you a sketchbook and some coloring pencils," he reveals. "I found more of those webs around your room you created and thought those were really creative. So I thought I'd get you them," he explains. A smile graces Widow's face, touched by the thoughtful gesture from her dad.

"Da', you didn't need to do that," Widow says, giggling. "But thanks," she adds, appreciative of her dad's gesture.

"No problem," her dad replies. Widow, feeling mischievous, gets an idea. "Hey. Hey. Hey, da'," she says, a playful smile forming.

"Hmm?" he hums, curious.

"Who's beautiful and hangs up?" she teases, promptly hanging up on her dad before he can respond. Her dad, initially confused, catches on to the joke and chuckles. "That sneaky little-"

"Officer," Widow interjects in a deep voice to conceal her normal one. Her dad jumps in surprise. "Spider-woman!" she declares, adding a touch of humor to their conversation.

He clears his throat, adjusting his posture. "I, uhm, I wanna thank you for stopping the collider," he expresses. Widow nods in acknowledgment. "You're welcome," she replies.

"You lot be safe," Widow wishes before preparing to swing away. Just before she leaves, she adds, "Look behind you." With a swift warp, she disappears into the air, leaving her dad momentarily puzzled.

He follows her advice, glancing behind, only to discover Kingpin all webbed up, a testament to Widow's resourcefulness and the impact of their intense encounter.

Widow, back in her dorm, takes a moment to catch her breath. Mask off, she begins to change into her pajamas when something catches her eye. In the corner, an oddity awaits her discovery - a voice box with a sticky note reading: "To Widow."

Curiosity piqued, she presses the button, and amidst muffled sounds and footsteps, a familiar voice emerges. "Porker," Gwen's voice calls out, attempting to get Porker's attention. Widow listens intently, drawn into the mysterious message unfolding through the voice box.

[Porker] Yeah, Gwen?

[Gwen] Say something nice to Widow.

[Porker] She's gone out on a walk. Do I have to?

[Gwen] I will literally turn you into bacon if you don't.

Widow can't help but giggle as Gwen threatens to turn Porker into bacon if he doesn't say anything nice about her. The camaraderie and banter among friends bring a smile to Widow's face, offering a welcome moment of lightheartedness after the night's intense events.

[Porker] Okay! Jesus! Uhm.. I like her attitude and the way she insults people, I guess. Especially when we were playing Uno last night, that was fun to watch.

[Gwen] I agree. Hey Penni.

[Penni] Yeah?

[Gwen] What do you think of Widow?

[Penni] I like her hair. It looks so fluffy and I just wanna play with it.

[Gwen] Honestly same. Peter, stop stuffing your face and say something nice about Widow.

Widow chuckles, not surprised in the slightest to hear Peter's familiar munching sounds in the background.

[Peter] Uhm. Her accent is pretty cool.

[Gwen] That is something everyone can agree on. Noir, you're turn.

[Nior] What?

[Gwen] What do you like about Widow?

[Nior] Uhm. Her taste in clothing. It may not be the most colourful, but it's still pretty cool.

[Gwen] It looks pretty comfy. Miles.

[Miles] I'm gonna have to agree with Peter. Her accent is very nice.

Widow smiles, appreciating the compliments on her accent coming through the voice box. The recognition of her distinctive accent brings a sense of warmth, and she can't help but reflect on the countless times her unique way of speaking has garnered positive attention.

As more footsteps approach and a door closes, all Widow can hear now is Gwen's voice. The solo sound of her friend's voice adds an intimate touch to the moment, creating a connection that transcends the physical distance between them. Widow listens attentively, absorbing the comforting presence of Gwen's words through the voice box.

[Gwen] And as for me... God I don't know where to start.

A small blush races across Widow's cheeks as she listens, and a thought crosses her mind. "She doesn't know where to start?" she thinks, a mixture of curiosity and warmth enveloping her. The mystery of Gwen's message adds an intriguing layer to the moment, leaving Widow eager to discover what comes next in the heartfelt audio message.

[Gwen] You're just so.. Amazing, I didn't think I was gonna find someone like you. But I did. And I'm happy about that. When I first saw you in class. I immediately got the feeling that there was something special about you. And I was right..

The emotional weight of Gwen's words tugs at Widow's heartstrings, and a sudden surge of comfort overwhelms her. The urge to cry becomes palpable as the genuine connection and warmth conveyed through the message resonate deeply within her. In that moment, the simple act of listening to Gwen's words becomes a source of solace and emotional release for Widow.

[Gwen] I can tell by the moment you're listening to this, you're either sitting on your bed and you feel like you're about to cry, or you were already crying and feel like crying harder. But that's okay.. I didn't think you were gonna mean alot to me. I didn't think I was gonna meet anyone like you, after my, uh.. incident. But I did. And I'm glad I did. Widow, I don't think you understand how much you mean to me and the others. You mean alot to us. Not even words can describe how much you mean to us. Especially me.

A solitary tear traces a path down Widow's cheek, and she swiftly wipes it away. In the privacy of her dorm room, the emotional impact of Gwen's heartfelt message lingers, leaving Widow with a bittersweet mixture of vulnerability and connection.

[Gwen] Don't worry too much, 'kay? We're always gonna be here for you. Well, maybe not physically, but you know what I mean. You just gotta keep going, y'know? Even if life is being a bitch. Oh my God, that reminds me of this one scene where Dory and Nemo's dad- I forgot his name, but they're by this Ravine and Dory was saying "Just keep swimming" just acting all silly. I getting sidetracked, I'm so sorry.

Widow's heart melts at the sound of Gwen's small laugh, and an involuntary smile graces her face.

[Gwen] But anyways. Ehm. Oh wait, also, thought I'd let you know. While you were sleeping, I may or may not have broke into your dorm and took your Nirvana shirt. I'm actually wearing it right now underneath my suit, and let me tell you one thing, it's comfy as fuck.

Widow raises an eyebrow, intrigued by Gwen's mention of taking one of her shirts. Checking her wardrobe, she discovers the truth - Gwen did indeed borrow one of her shirts. A chuckle escapes Widow as she realizes why Gwen's suit looked a bit off during her return.

"No wonder her suit looked a little odd when I came back from the walk; she was wearing my shirt underneath. That motherfucker," Widow mutters to herself.

[Gwen] But anyways, other then that.. Oh wait, I see you coming towards the house. Okay, I'm gonna end the voice recording here.. Bye, love ya lots!

As the voice recording comes to an end, Widow whispers back, "Love you too." The bittersweet realization that she might never see them again weighs on her, but the memories of their time together bring a sense of fulfillment.

Widow gets up, changes into her pajamas, and eventually slips under the covers of her bed, seeking solace in the familiarity of her own space. The events of the night, the laughter, the battles, and the heartfelt messages linger in her thoughts as she rests, finding a moment of peace amid the echoes of a memorable night.

Who would've thought that Widow could fall in love with a girl from another world..
