"wow this is really good" Zoe said holding the paper in her hand as they walked in the school hallway
"It got me outta there thats all I care about" kevin said with a shrug
"can I interview you for my morning announcement show?" Zoe said
"nah I'm good" kevin scoffed
"the announcements are only ten minutes I'll probably talk to you for five" Zoe said
"that's sum nerd shit zo" kevin huffed making zoe face drop
"you could help people." zoe said making the two stop walking
"look I gotta go I'll call you later" kevin said
zoe didn't say anything but just stared at him making him walk off
she stood there with a frown on her face until she turned around seeing jake on his phone walking near her making a smile appear on her face
"can I read yours too?" zoe said
"I ain't do that shit" Jake said putting his phone in his pocket
"do you want to come on my show?" Zoe asked softly
her and Jake weren't that close anymore but they sure was still friends
"hell nah" Jake said mugging her
"come on I need a guest and I'm tired of talking to these white kids who don't know nothing" zoe said

"Then just come and talk to me it'll only be a few minutes I promise." Zoe said
Jake just stood there thinking as zoe looked at him tucking in her lips waiting for his answer

zoe sat in the auditorium on stage with a chair right next to her where Jake was sitting
she looked around as the other kids set everything up for her show
she glanced at Jake right next to her who was dusting off his uniform jacket with his hand
"you look nice" Zoe said complimenting her friend
"thanks" Jake smiled
"wait.. are you wearing cologne?" Zoe said
jake hesitated then looked down nervously making zoe look at him confusedly
"we're ready to go zoe" Tiffany said behind the camera
"don't worry you're gonna do great" Zoe told jake seeing he gotten nervous
jake let out a breath then nodded making zoe look at the camera
"three.. two.." Tiffany said behind the camera starting it
"thank you for joining me jake" zoe said
"you're welcome" Jake said
"we all saw the video so there's no need to rehash that traumatic moment" zoe said
"thank you." Jake said
"the police officer said you posed a threat and that's why they used force why do you think even though they had guns that they felt threatened by you?" Zoe said
"they see all of us as threats they think im..." Jake said but paused
zoe noticed he went quiet the put her hand on his hand
"they think I'm dangerous or something they think I don't care if I live or die I don't wanna die i wanna do something with my life" Jake said
zoe nodded swallowing the lump in her mouth while still listening to him
"you know why we say "fuck the police" ... cause it's how we feel" Jake said

zoe sat in the office while jake stood there looking in the principal's office talking to douda
the two continued to look until douda came over and closed the door making jake just go and sit right next to zoe
"sorry I got you in trouble" Jake said
"I'm just glad you told the truth" zoe said
"yeah but I ain't have to do it on your show tho" Jake said
"I want my show to be real not just some dumb shit I do for extra credit" zoe said
"why you always tryna make people mad?" Jake said
"cause if people don't get mad they'll never change" Zoe said making jake chuckle
"I guess your right" jake said
"I know im right" zoe said
zoe smiled while looking jake receiving a smile back from him as they sat there in silence
"alright we have a verdict" douda said walking out the door with the principal
both teens stood up from the little bench and walked towards the two
"jake you do not have to apologize for what you said you have the freedom to say it, and to be honest if I were you I would have said the same shit" douda said
"for once justice is served" zoe smiled while crossing her arms
"not so fast" the principal mr fields said pointing at zoe
"I knew it." zoe said making her face drop into a frown
"I'm calling a moratorium on BAMN and all BAMN-related activities" mr fields said
"why?" Zoe said
"Because the guest on your show incited violence" mr fields said
"no I didnt!" jake said
"alright hey let's calm down" douda said
"a violent act was committed against an innocent black boy and because he talked about it on my show you wanna call a moratorium? this is bullshit." zoe said
"hey watch your mouth young lady" douda said
"We're pulling your show" mr fields said
"for how long?" zoe said
"until all this calms down" mr fields said
"oh so when racism is over then I get to get my show back?" zoe said
"that's fucked up" Jake said
"okay both of y'all need to be thankful that your not getting kicked out of school" douda said
"fuck this school" zoe said then quickly walked away from the three males

zoe and some other students all stood in the school auditorium tryna figure out a plan
"let's do a walk out" zoe said
"when?" Jake said
"tomorrow third period" zoe said
"that's when everyone's in home room" Kevin said
"I know" zoe said while nodding her head
"I'm down for the cause whatever you need I got you" some white girl said
"thank you" zoe said
"How you supposed to get everyone to just walk outta class" Kevin said
"our instagram I'll just dm everyone" zoe smiled
"wow so you want proof that this was your idea?" Kevin said
"look everyone in BAMN is trustworthy" zoe said
everyone just said mhm and yeahs making Kevin nod
"y'all are crazy" Kevin said looking at all of them
"kev just cause you scared don't mean everyone else can't do it" jake said

"technically we all live on a big plantation but that's another conversation for a different day" zoe said
"look my parents promised they'd get off my back if I just you know stayed outta trouble" Kevin said
"but this is good trouble kevin they would be proud" zoe said walking towards him
"Yeah I know I just.. I just don't wanna lose their trust" Kevin said
zoe noticed the look on his face which made her grow worried but then she just nodded and turned around walking back to her spot
"man im tired of behaving im tired of tryna be a good little negro I don't owe this school nothing" jake said
"jake these rich kids gone be ight we don't got no trust fund." Kevin said
zoe felt hurt cause she knew exactly what he meant by "rich kids" she knew he was also referring to her
"what you tryna say Kevin?" zoe said walking towards him with a complete hurt look on her face
"im saying that your daddy gots the money to bail you outta jail if somebody calls the cops" Kevin said
"ain't nobody calling the cops" zoe said
"wow spoken like the spoiled little black girl you are" Kevin said making zoe's heart drop
she was on the urge of crying but she just couldn't cause she was around a bunch of people
once kevin walked away leaving the auditorium she shook her head and turned around
jake noticed the hurt on her face but just didn't say anything he knew her so well
she was just tired of getting called spoiled or rich growing up it wasn't like that at all.
outta all people she felt like kevin understood the things she goes through but now she felt like he didn't at all and was just using it against her.
