THE NEXT DAY, ELENA stood in the lobby of her hotel. jude had messaged her a few minutes ago, telling her that they were walking to wherever he was taking her. he said to her that he would meet her at her hotel, and she honestly felt like a loner as she stood waiting for him.
"elena!" a voice yelled, causing her to look up from her phone and smile at the sight of jude. "i'm sorry for being a bit late, the traffic was madness."
"it's fine!" she said, wrapping her arms around his neck and standing on her tiptoes to give him a hug which he immediately returned. "i wasn't waiting long anyways, don't worry."
"okay good," he nodded, grabbing her hand and dragging her out the hotel. "let's go, we've got a reservation due in twenty minutes."
thankfully, the walk only took them fifteen. elena loved the wonderful sights in madrid, linking her arm with his as they talked about everything and anything on the way there. at one point jude even shoved her which resulted in a pushing fight that stopped when she nearly fell into a fountain. she screamed at him for nearly ruining her outfit but jude was quick to laugh at her and kiss her on the cheek. he couldn't take elena seriously when she shouted at him; she was just too pretty.
"are restaurants the only place you know where to take me?" she joked as she walked in front of him, feeling jude's hand support her back as he guided her inside the restaurant first.
"shut up, i know you love food," he said, and she went quiet because she knew he was right.
a little into their date, they had just ordered their meals and were both sat drinking their drinks as they started up a new conversation.
"say, when are you gonna kiss me?" elena boldly asked, and he felt himself choke on his own spit.
"w-what?" he stuttered, clearing his throat and trying not to notice how quickly his cheeks had heated up.
"did i stutter?" elena shrugged as if it was nothing, taking a sip of her coke. "i know your jealously has been eating you alive this whole lando sitch, but in all fairness i could honestly just go off with him if i wanted and you can't do anything about it."
he frowned. "why not?"
"you haven't kissed me," she answered, looking at him as if he was stupid. "which technically means i'm not your girl, so you can't be mad."
"i'm taking my time with you, lena, 'cause i don't want to fuck anything up," jude assured her, not realising she was joking. "if you really do want to kiss me all you have to do is ask but i was sort of waiting for the right moment to make it more, i dunno, memorable i guess an-"
"jude. shut up. i'm just messing with you," elena laughed at him as he sheepishly looked away. "i know you're wanting to take your time with me; that's okay. i haven't had a boy care this much to keep me like, ever. you'd be the first."
jude scoffed. "idiots."
"i know," elena smiled, her nose scrunching up as jude felt himself get lost in her eyes yet again. she picked up a strawberry from the fruit they ordered and went to hand him it, not expecting him to just eat it out of her hand. "ew! did you have to eat it from my hand?!"
"sorry," jude carelessly shrugged whilst munching away. "i was tryna do the thing from the movies."
"it didn't work," she stated as he rolled his eyes, causing her to giggle.
"well i'm sorry for trying," he sassed.
elena giggled and rested her chin against her palm, looking up at him with those doe-eyes that always made him go weak in the knees. "so, when's your next game?" she asked.
"barcelona," he answered. "on saturday."
"funnily enough, i'll still be here on satu-"
"-come to my game," jude interrupted her quickly, sheepishly biting his lip as she raised her brows at him. "please," he added.
"that's better," she nodded at his manners. "and i don't know, i guess i'll have to see if i'm busy."
he deadpanned at her. "really?"
"i'm joking of course i'll come. but! only if the girls can come with me because they'll visiting me and i won't leave them just to go watch a boy play footie, no matter how cute you are," elena explained, and jude was quick to agree.
"yeah that's fine," he said, before sending her his infamous, boyish grin. "i'll score for you."
"don't get too cocky," she warned.
"no i will!"
"hm, score and you can get another date with me. deal?"
"and if i score twice?"
"might be lucky enough to get a kiss as well," she teased as his eyes widened, feeling the butterflies run around his stomach at her bold statement.
"d-deal," he stuttered, frantically nodding his head as she laughed at his flustered state.
thankfully for jude their meals arrived quickly after that and the conversation was dropped - a new one starting. elena couldn't help but laugh at one point when she noticed him get a bit of ketchup from his burger on his nose, she leant forward to wipe it off only for him to grab her face and place a matching splat of ketchup on her nose as well.
once they were both finished and their plates were taken away, he went to say something before they were both startled by the sound of rain pounding over the glass roof they sat under.
"you've got to be fucking kidding me," she stated. "we're walking back in that."
"want me to call for a ride?" he suggested, already pulling his phone out.
"no point; it's only a five minute walk," elena said, huffing. "we'll be fine if we leave now before it can get any worse."
"let's go then," jude said. he stood up and grabbed his jacket, holding his hand for elena to hold as he pulled her out her seat. they both thanked the staff on their way past, jude leaving money on the table, before making their way to the door.
as soon as they stepped outside, they were hit with probably the worst rain madrid has seen in a long time. jude looked down and noticed that she was only in a skirt, a top, and some pointless cardigan that was too small to even fit over her head and protect her face from the rain.
"here," jude laughed, taking his jacket off and, due to their size difference, holding it over her head to cover her from the rain.
elena felt herself smile at his gentlemanly gesture, wrapping her arm around his waist to ensure she knew where to go - because jude didn't realise the jacket was covering her eyes - as he guided them through the streets of madrid.
"who would've thought jude bellingham would be such a gentleman?" elena said in an old fashioned posh voice, looking at him as he moved his jacket slightly to look down at her.
"only for you, my love," jude replied back in the same voice, causing her to giggle.
jude froze at the sound of cameras clicking in the distance. he cursed and speed up, directing elena towards an alleyway not that far from the hotel.
"i'm so so sorry," jude apologised as he threw the jacket off them, letting the water hit them both as elena smiled at the cold impact. "i think the paps found us and i don't want them to corner us when we're like this."
elena was pushed up against the wall, him stood protectively in front of her as he rested one of his hands by her head, the other tightly holding his jacket. elena watched him as he looked out the alleyway to double check if they were gone.
elena bit her lip and looked up at him, causing him to snap his eyes eyes toward her as he stared at her — a glint shinning across his eyes. "why don't you want us to get caught like this?"
"wanna keep you as a secret as best as i can before the football media get their eyes on us," he replied back quietly, the rain pouring in between them. "i don't want them knowing about you just yet, not when fuckheads exist out there."
"fuckheads? really?" elena laughed, grabbing ahold of his beltloops on his cargos, pulling him in closer. jude felt his breath hitch as he stared at her, feeling her lips brush over his — the only thing blocking them from connecting being the rain.
"yeah," he whispered breathlessly, not moving his eyes away from her lips. jude could feel his breath turn heavier as he watched her bite her lip, a grin casting across her face.
"i think you're forgetting one thing, jude," elena muttered, standing up on her tiptoes to wrap her arms around his neck as his hands immediately gripped her waist. she grabbed jude's face so that their lips were pressed against each other; all they had to do was the last little lean in.
"which is?"
"you still haven't kissed me yet."
"fuck," jude cursed, pulling her body to press up against his. he looked into elena's eyes, silently pleading for her to say yes. "can i?"
"yes.. please."
elena's consent was all jude needed to swoop down and finally connect their lips.
she felt like she was dreaming the second his soft, plump lips pressed against her own. she let out a deep sigh against his mouth before standing a bit higher on her tiptoes, feeling jude's hand grip her waist tighter as one travelled to rest on her back, holding her in place.
jude tilted his head to the side once he noticed she was relaxed, feeling the rain fall between them and over their mouths. one of her hands tangling up in his hair, playing around with it ever so slightly as jude smiled against her lips.
elena swiped her tongue over his soft lips, begging for an entrance. jude obeyed almost instantly, and peeled his lips open enough to give her leverage to sneak her tongue inside.
the two kissed for a few more seconds before they pulled away. elena smiled up at him, noticing the dazed look in his eyes as he gazed down at her. he then suddenly grinned and grabbed onto her face, pecking her on the lips as she squealed.
"jude!"
"sorry! sorry!" he apologised, breaking away from her lips - yet his hands never left her face. "you're just so fucking kissable. i don't wanna stop."
"as much as i don't either, i think it's best we go in now," she said, pointing to the rain around them, and themselves. "we look like we've just taken a quick dip in the ocean."
"cmon then," jude grinned, grabbing her hand and his jacket. he looked out of the alley before dashing off to escape the paps, dragging elena behind him - their giggles and laughter echoing over the streets for everyone to hear.
