The Sons of Adam (Part 1)

Say, shall I not tell you the tale of the sons of our father

Indeed Hawwa fell pregnant twenty times, as per the decree of Allah our Master

Each time bearing twins, one boy and one girl

However after the second pair came, a terrible tragedy would unfurl

The first son was Qabil, followed by his twin sister

His looks were as rough as his heart, as for his twin, beauty itself had kissed her

The next pair was Habil, his face as delightful as his soul

As for his twin, her looks were dull like rusty gold

Thus was the sequence of all twenty pregnancies from the first of them to the last

But cursed would be one of them and from among the people of the fire he would be cast

Verily each pair would marry the next, the handsome for the beautiful

While Qabil would have to wed Habil's plain sister, a marriage oh so refutable

Qabil challenged the decree, his heart was full of anger and desire

So they were told to offer a sacrifice to Allah and the one whom is accepted would have it consumed by a fire

There on, Habil offered a fat sheep, the finest from his flock

Whilst Qabil offered expired produce, thus the outcome was no shock

Habil's sheep was consumed by the flame, his sacrifice accepted and so the decree for marriage would remain

Alas Qabil was consumed by jealously and overtaken by shaytan, telling his brother he would kill him, verily lust had driven him insane

But Habil was a pillar of piety, telling his brother that such actions are from among the people of hell

But Qabil did not relent in his schemes and so it was destined that in the naar he would dwell

And so, on one late evening, Habil failed to return home

His brother Qabil was sent to see where Habil had roamed

Qabil found him sleeping next to some rocks, so Qabil grabbed one, raising it up high

And lo! In one mighty swing he crushed his brother's head, without a sound he had died

Verily Qabil was from the wrongdoers, the first to ever take an innocent life, the first to ever commit such a crime

And so it would be written that for every murder to come, he would share in the sin every time

Lo and behold the devil had deceived him, all for one girl, he had destroyed his kin

Overtaken with shame Qabil picked up his brother and a desperate journey would begin

He walked and walked until Habil's body began to decay

Placing it onto the ground, indeed Qabil lamented and regretted that wretched day

Suddenly! Respite from the Most Merciful as two crows came from the sky

These two birds fought each other until one of them would die

The first crow had slain the second, it buried the fallen that perhaps in this Qabil would find a lesson

Taking inspiration, Qabil buried Habil but still, unto repentance to his Lord he would not beckon

Fearful and guilty, he avoided his father and kidnapped his twin sister

Settling down in the flat lands, leaving his family to deal with a loss all too bitter

Narrations say Iblis himself had brought the bad news of Habil's death to Hawwa

Verily, the floodgates had been opened, bawling and crying as if she had just witnessed Yawmul Qiyama

There on, Qabil fathered much progeny and upon the flatlands, were his corrupted ways established

Whereas Adam remained with the righteous up in the mountains, where the teachings of Allah were still practiced
