people always thought of the stupidest things. they believed that when you dream of someone, then they are also dreaming of you or that when you can't get someone out of your mind, it means you are also stuck on theirs or if you couldn't sleep, then someone is thinking about you.
some soul connection thing that viviana didn't understand, she believed otherwise though. she believed they were just hurt people missing someone that left them.
or a teenage girl with a crush just being delusional, or a girl thinking of her boyfriend, who probably didn't think about her throughout his day.
viviana didn't believe in those things, and she didn't believe boys were capable of feeling anything anyway.
of course they sometimes got hurt, but they didn't feel things the way girls did. in a way the girl wasn't wrong, but she wasn't right either.
so as she stood in front of the house she wasn't ready to be back at, she kept pacing around until suddenly the door was pulled open, stood there was the second person she wasn't ready to see yet
conrad stared at the shorter girl in confusion, he was analyzing her appearance. she seemed different than the last time he saw her, she seemed so frightened of something, like she was dreading whatever she came here for.
conrad was never good with words, it was always his hugs that helped viviana or just his presence or his promises.
oh his sweet promises
viviana coughed "is jeremiah home?"
"no uh . . . heʼs out" conrad said, feeling too small in front of the girl
"okay" viviana simply said, as she turned around to walk away but someone called out her name from the doorway
as viviana turned back around, she was met by justin with a solemn expression " where have you been?"
"oh I have been busy" viviana spoke awkwardly as justin nodded, he knew she was lying, she knew he knew and she knew conrad too knew she was lying — not that anyone will point that out
"can we talk?" the way his voice was serious made vivianaʼs stomach twist "yea sure"
the two walked away, until they were at the beach "what were you doing there?" justin asked quietly as viviana sighed "i was looking for jeremiah"
"of course you were" justin sounded annoyed
"what's with that tone?" viviana raised a brow
"don't you think maybe you should keep some distance?" justin answered her question by another
"why?" viviana sounded so lost "what are you even talking about?"
"i am trying to say . . . that heʼs not good for you " Justin groaned "which isn't good at all vivi"
"you are being ridiculous " viviana laughed "jeremiah would never hurt me"
"oh really?" he didn't sound convinced at all
"yes, he would never" viviana nodded
"do you not remember how he literally abandoned you for a stupid reason? " justin said as viviana froze
"what do you want justin?" her tone changed, she was impatient and annoyed now
"you can't just take decisions like that by yourself! " justin was getting impatient
"oh really? and who's supposed to make decisions for me? you?” viviana mocked justin as he glupped “who i date is none of your business” and just like that, viviana turned around and walked away and justin, he didn't try to stop her.
JULY, THREE YEARS AGO
viviana was talking with conrad —who didn't seem to be listening to her making her frown "connie?" viviana called out softly as conrad looked at her when she touched his arm
"yea?" conrad asked awkwardly
"is everything okay?" viviana asked softly as conrad nodded "you know you can tell me anything right?"
"yea but it's stupid" conrad mumbled
"it's not stupid" viviana shook her head as she looked at conrad patiently.
"it's just maeve and i, we have been arguing alot" maeve was conradʼs girlfriend — his girlfriend at the time, and while viviana adored the girl, conrad couldn't say the same for maeve, not that viviana knew anyway
" do you want to tell me about what?" viviana was careful not to make him feel as if he had no choice but to tell her.
"i don't want to talk about it" conradʼs voice was still quiet, he didn't even look at her when he said the words.
he only looked up when he noticed she was no longer seated next to him, instead she was standing with a smile on her face "come on" viviana held her hand out as conrad took it
"where are we going?" conrad asked as he walked along with viviana
"it's a surprise" viviana beamed happily as conrad sighed "you know i don't like surprises"
"but you will love this one!" viviana said, walking faster while pulling conrad with her as they arrived at the ice skating rink
it was a ten minute walk, filled with conrad grumbly following viviana. though conrad still remembered this day as if it was yesterday.
a day where viviana decided to go to a place they both loved when they were younger but never stepped foot into after her sister died — just to make him feel better.
and not two weeks later, conrad was abandoning her.

conrad fisher could remember exactly the moment he became friends with viviana martin. he could remember every little detail about that day.
it was a sunny day on the beach, twelve summerʼs ago when viviana was playing alone there.
he had seen her playing with older two kids, probably her siblings. he could remember jeremiah staring at her as she built a sandcastle alone.
he remembered when belly was running and she had accidentally stepped on her castle and she just sat there in defeat.
he decided to go over there and rebuild it with her, he couldn't forget how her smile reached her ears or how she told her sister happily she made a friend.
he remembered the next few days when the two of them would meet at the beach, steven sometimes joined but jeremiah never did.
he preferred staying with belly.
until one day , he decided to play with them though it wasn't that summer , he could recall all the times after that he saw his brother staring at viviana.
it was like whenever viviana walked into the room, she would steal all the oxygen and jeremiah could only breath while looking at her.
and as they grew up, conrad hated it.
it wasn't jealousy, because he didn't love viviana in any romantic way. it was because he knew his brother was always hooking up with people, that if anything did happen between the two, viviana would end up heartbroken.
and conrad knew it would make things awkward between them later on, so when he saw her that morning asking for jeremiah, seemingly uncomfortable.
he wanted to punch jeremiah.
conrad walked upstairs, noticing jeremiahʼs bedroom door opened with his lights on, so he decided to tell him viviana stopped by. that was supposed to be all of it.
"hey jere" conrad said as he walked in, he didn't expect his brother to be sitting on his bed, phone in hand while he kept playing with his hair and pulling at it
"what do you want?" jeremiah asked rudely, which was weird because jeremiah was never rude to conrad.
"uhm viviana stopped by earlier today" conrad said carefully, noticing jeremiah turning to him immediately
"did she tell you anything?" jeremiah asked as conrad only shook his head.
"she just asked about you" jeremiah nodded at conradʼs response, as conrad went to walk away but jeremiahʼs voice stopped him
"what happened on the fourth ?" jeremiah asked conrad, who somehow managed to hide his stiffness from him
"what do you mean what happened?"
"viviana was in your room, then she walked out and she seemed upset" jeremiah pushed as conrad stood there awkwardly like a deer caught
"we just got into a little argument" conradʼs responses weren't one jeremiah liked in the slightest.
"about what?" jeremiah pushed again but conrad stood there silently "do you at least know what happened with her and belly?"
"i heard arguing" conrad shrugged as jeremiah nodded for him to continue "i don't know what happened though"
jeremiah wanted to scream at conrad " what do you know then?"
conrad shrugged " i think belly was blaming her for something"
"oh" it was all jeremiah could get out at that moment, and it was all he did.
he just picked up his phone, dialing vivianaʼs number, which he knew was pointless because it went straight to voicemail
jeremiah kept pacing around his room, repeatedly calling viviana. "what's wrong?"
"what?" jeremiah looked at conrad annoyed, while conrad only raised a brow
"it's nothing" jeremiah said, just as belly walked in the room, but this time, viviana did not leave his mind.
he wondered if she ever really did.
JUNE, 11 YEARS AGO
a little girl was seen sitting alone on a swing , as she looked around at all the kids playing with each other with smiles on their faces
a boy around her age walked forward as he smiled softly at her "hi" the boy smiled shyly as the brunette girl smiled happily
"jeremiah" viviana beamed as she noticed the boy, jeremiah didn't even realize she knew his name
" do you want to play with me on the seesaw?" the boy was still shy, viviana on the other hand couldn't contain her happiness as she nodded.
she hopped down as she walked along with jeremiah then suddenly grabbed his hand "i have to tell lulu i am moving"
jeremiah couldn't even say anything back to the girl as all he could focus on her hand gently holding his hand
jeremiah followed her to the table her sister was seated on with one of her friends as viviana smiled at her " i am going to play with jeremiah" viviana declared, earning a bright smile from luna
" you made a new friend! see i told you it's easy" luna smiled at her sister who frowned
"jeremiah is connieʼs brother" jeremiah never hated being called conradʼs brother, but when it came from viviana, he wanted to scream at the world
" make sure you don't fall, okay?" luna said as viviana nodded, suddenly dropping jeremiahʼs hand as she walked away with the boy next to her
jeremiah didn't understand why her face fell and she no longer had a smile on it, but as a child, he believed it was because she didn't want to play with him.
" who was that?" jeremiah asked, as the two were still walking
"luna" viviana said then realised how stupid it was "my sister"
viviana smiled when they started playing, and all thoughts of jeremiah bothering her were gone immediately.
and suddenly, jeremiah didn't mind his dad taking conrad and leaving him, he didn't mind steven playing with other people and belly sitting with the moms
because he preferred vivianaʼs company, even though the two barely talked, he enjoyed hearing her laugh.
and after that sunny day, jeremiah always asked his mom to take him to the same park, even though he prefered the beach or the other park, he would still go in hopes of finding viviana there.
