Next Day, At school
Jesse was talking with Eve about the mission she was going on with Mark. "Good thing, you two are not dating regular people because that will be a pain in the ass." Eve said to her making Jesse look at her. "You okay?" Jesse asks her. "I'm fine, I've just get my own crap to deal with right now." Eve said to her. "Is it about Rex?" Jesse asks him. "It's not just Rex. It's everything. It's my parents, and school, and college, and I don't know if being a superhero is what I want to do right now." Eve said to her as she looks away from Jesse. "But what else would you do?" Jesse asks her. "I don't know. That's the problem." Eve said to her making Jesse place her hand on Eve's shoulder. "If you need anything or want to talk about it, I'm here. After I get back from Mars, I mean. You remember what I said to you?" Jesse asks her making Eve nod. "You will always be by my side no matter what." Eve said to her making Jesse smile at her. "To infinity and beyond." Jesse said to her making Eve laugh a little. "I can't believe you said that." Eve said to her as the two walk to their next class together.
After school, Jesse was on the rooftop of the school wearing her hero suit and she was looking her at phone watching the news, where the Mars mission is being broadcast. Then Jesse gets an reminder for a day out with her dad making her turn off her phone. She knows her dad will be okay but his healing powers were taking too long. "You ready?" Jesse hears Mark making her turn to him. "Yep, and I bet it will be easy this time." Jesse said to him as Mark hands her a helmet and oxygen tank. "Why do you say that?" Mark asks her as he and Jesse put on the helmet and oxygen tank. "One, we have an oxygen tank and two, I can race you to Mars." Jesse said to him then she jumps into the air and flies away. "Oh, boy." Mark said to himself as he follows her. The two flies along with the Mars shuttle that goes out into space.
In space, Jesse and Mark land on the shuttle as it flies away from earth. "Cool." Mark said as he takes a picture of the earth with his phone.
"Okay, first thing, stay out of sight unless something goes wrong. This is supposed to be a win for human spaceflight."
The two teens hear Cecil over their earpiece. "We will be like a ghosts in the night." Jesse said to Cecil.
"Second, the main reason you're on this mission is the Martians..."
Cecil said to them while Mark holds onto Jesse's arm as she was jumping away. "What, there are Martians?" Mark said to him very surprise.
"Where'd you think Martian Man came from, Jupiter?"
Cecil said to him while Jesse knees down on the rocket. "He would be named something like Jupiters." Jesse said to them making Mark smile at her. "Uh, I...never thought about it." Mark said to Cecil.
"We don't know much about 'em, but we know they live underground and keep to themselves. You shouldn't have any trouble. Just keep an eye out."
Cecil said to the two as Mark looks at Jesse. "Martians." Mark said to her. "I know." Jesse said to him. "Way to bury the lede, Cecil." Mark said to him.
"Actually the lede is "Make sure our astronauts get home safe. Humanity's counting on you kids."
Cecil said to them as the rocket lands on a space station that will take them to Mars.
Later Jesse and Mark were sitting on the rocket were they can see Mars far away. Jesse leans into Mark who put his arm around her. "You feeling okay?" Mark asks her making Jesse look at him. "What do you mean?" Jesse asks him. "You were looking at your phone then you close it." Mark said to her making Jesse look up at the stars. "Today, was going to be a day out with my dad but..." Jesse said to him making Mark stop her. "It's okay, you don't have to say anything. I know I don't understand what you are going though but I am here for you." Mark said to her making Jesse smile at him. "Thank you, Mark." Jesse said to him with a smile. "You want something to eat?" Mark asks her as he pulls out a bag. "Huh..." Jesse said as Mark opens the bag. "What?" Mark said to her making Jesse break the sandwich showing that it was completely hardened. "Pack a lunch, my ass." Mark said to himself making Jesse laugh a little. "I can't with you sometimes." Jesse said to him with a smile making Mark looks at Jesse with a smile.
Some time later, aboard the spacecraft, Mark wakes up and sees Mars. Mark turns to see Jesse sleeping in his arms making him shake her awake gently. "Jess, we are here." Mark whisper to her as Jesse opens her eyes to see Mars. "Oh, wow." Jesse said as she and Mark stand up as they finally land, and the two gets off before they do.
Jesse and Mark flies over to some rocks rear the ship while four astronauts come out of the ship.
"We are down, Houston. It's a beautiful day on Mars, and a beautiful accomplishment for all humankind."
Jesse and Mark hears one of the astronauts said as Jesse hides behind the rocks.
"Nice job, Hank. Did you guys see that?"
Jesse hears one of them say making her turn to Mark knee down next to her.
"See what?"
"Eh, never mind."
"Ah, maybe not the best color scheme for this mission." Mark said to Jesse. "You think." Jesse said to him as the astronauts start working.
Hours later, Jesse was playing on her phone while not knowing Mark was taking pictures of her. Then Mark's phone dies making him exasperated sigh making Jesse look at him. "Gah...this sucks. My phone died." Mark said to Jesse. "Maybe they have a charger in the shuttle." Jesse said to him then the two look over the rock only to find out the astronauts had been taken away. "What?" Jesse said as her and Mark fly up to see that the group of astronauts was gone. "Shit..." Mark said to himself.
Mark and Jesse follows the footsteps that were left in Mars' sand. "Shouldn't have any trouble. Martians live underground." Jesse said to Mark who scoffs. "They are gone." Mark said making him and Jesse stop flying when they can't follow footsteps. "Where did it go?" Jesse asks herself while Mark knees down. "I see something." Mark said to her making Jesse knee down to him as the windstorm rumbling around them. Mark lifts up a big rock, and is attacked by many Sequids. Jesse watch as the creatures squeals while Mark screams a little. "No, no, no, no!" Mark screams while Jesse watch Mark roll around until he gets the creatures off him and he groans in disgust. "Ah, Jesus..." Mark said to himself making Jesse giggle. "You done playing with your new friends?" Jesse asks him with a smile. "Thanks for the help." Mark said to her making Jesse laugh a little.
Next thing, Jesse and Mark were walks through the hidden hallway that had more of the creatures on the walls. "Man, I feel like I am in the movie aliens and predators. Now I am thinking about when the Xenomorph and Yautja will jump out." Jesse said to herself as the two find a crystal-like object which turns out to be a Martian. Jesse and Mark jump back away from the Martian until Jesse and Mark is surrounded . "Do not move, humans." One of the Martians said to the two while the Martians points their spears at them. "Whoa! Hold on! We're -We're not here to hurt anyone, okay? We'm just here looking for, uh..." Mark said then another Sequid jumps at him which throws away which he quickly pull off and throws away. "You guys need to keep your dogs on a leash!" Mark said to them. "I assume those are, like, Martian dogs, or something?" Jesse said to them. "You are unaffected by the sequids?" One of the Martian said to them. "No, I am very affected by them. I can still taste them." Mark said to them. "One of them jump onto his mouth." Jesse said to them while Mark groans in disgust. "The other humans, in white, are they like you?" One of the Martian asks them. "The astronauts? I mean, kinda, but not exactly." Mark said to them. "Wait, you know where they are?" Jesse asks them. "And you speak English?" Mark said to them. "We speak Martian." Other Martian said to them.
Mark and Jesse were brought to the Emperor of Mars, where they are welcomed. "Welcome to Mars, Earth-man and woman." Emperor said to the two. "Thanks for having us...Mars-man. Mr. Mars-Man. Sir. Your Highness?" Mark awkwardly greets the Martian Emperor making Jesse look at him. "What is your purpose here?" Emperor asks the two. "It's funny, uh, we was sent to protect some of our fellow Earth-men on a mission to your lovely planet, and if they don't get back in one piece, I'm really gonna look like a dick." Mark said to the Emperor. "Oh, hey, guys." Jesse said to the astronauts. "Uh, yeah, we don't know who that is." One of the astronauts said to Emperor. "It was a secret mission." Mark said to them. "Well, you two suck at it then." The female astronaut said to them. "I don't know how to answer that." Jesse said to the astronauts. "Mistakes were made, but everything's back on track, so if you don't mind, we'll get out of your, um, hair, and maybe keep your little squid-dogs under control this time." Mark said to the Emperor. "The sequids are the very reason I captured your people. They are a world-destroying race who left a trail of destruction across the universe, before crashing onto our planet. Alone, their group mind is scattered and weak, but with an appropriate host, they become unified and unstoppable. Our shape-changing abilities let us resist them, but if a single sequid fuses with one of your people, they would rise up as one and savage Mars, and soon after, Earth." Emperor said to them. "Oh." Mark said to himself. "Oh, just it is aliens and predators." Jesse said to herself while Emperor walks over to them. "Tell me, Earth-man, how are you able to resist them?" Emperor asks Mark. "I'm part Viltrumite. Ever heard of us?" Mark asks him. "I am the Emperor of Mars! Of course, I've heard of you!" Emperor screams then he looks at his one of his soliders then back at Mark. "Okay, well then, you know we like to help out wherever we can, which is why I was sent to protect these astronauts, so if you're all good, we'll finish our science and head home..." Mark said while he slows takes Jesse's hand and he pulls her back. "Impossible! The humans are scheduled for immediate execution. We cannot risk them coming in contact with a sequid." The Emperor said to him. "We understand." Jesse said to him while her hands starts growing blue.
Seconds later, Jesse, Mark and the Astronauts are then seen fleeing from the Martians back to their spacecraft. "Go! Go! Go! Go!" Mark yelled as the Martians were right behind them. "Get them to the spacecraft!" Jesse yelled and she stops. "Grab hands!" Mark yelled making the astronauts hold hands then Mark picks them up and he files them back to the spacecraft. Jesse then punches the ground using a lot of her power that breaks down the ground under the Martians trying to slow them down.
"Let's do this." Mark said then he attempts to fight the Martians, but was outnumbered very easily. Jesse makes a ice water wall infront of the Martians then she runs over to Mark. "Do you think you can lift the spacecraft?" Jesse asks him. "Um, okay. Can I lift that? I think I can lift that." Mark said to her as he stands up. "Well, do it." Jesse said to him then she flies at the Martians to hold them back. Mark lifts the spacecraft off of the Mars's surface while Jesse was doing hand to hand combat against the Martians.
While Jesse was fighting back the Martians, her nails becomes snap. "Ew, this is new and I don't like it." Jesse said to herself seeing that her nails were green. Then the Martians start attacking her again with their spears. "Oh, boy." Jesse said to herself and she dodges the attacks until her hands become elastic and it wrap around the Martians then she threws them to the ground. "I don't like that." Jesse said to her while Mark was helping the astronauts escape. The Martians stop fighting her as the Astronauts leave Mars while Mark lands over to Jesse. "No hard feelings, right? I'm gonna take a rock if that's okay." Mark said as he picks up a rock. "Yeah?" Mark said then he and Jesse flies away from the Martians who watch them leave.
At Night, Back On Earth
"That was a hard mission." Jesse said to Mark as the two were flying to Mark's house. "I thought it was fine." Mark said to her as the two land by Mark's house. "The Astronauts was taking by the Martians." Jesse reminds Mark who looks at her. "It was not that bad." Mark said to her. "I guess." Jesse said to him then Mark holds her hand. "And I enjoy it more because you were there with me." Mark said to her as he gets closer to her. "Right, but don't you dare called it a date." Jesse said to him as she walks to the front door. "But..." Mark said to her making Jesse look at him. "No buts, Mark." Jesse said to him and she kisses his cheek.
Then the two hear noises in the house making the two teens look at her door. Mark walks to the door while pushing Jesse behind him. Mark opens the door and he walks in only to see his sees his parents awkwardly staring at him. "Oh, hey, you're...back early." Nolan said to him while Jesse walks into the house. "Wow." Jesse said to herself while standing next to Mark. "Uh...how was Mars?" Debbie asks them. "By the looks of it, less eventful than whatever was happening here." Jesse said to them while Mark removes his mask. "We'd love to hear more over dinner. We're having chicken." Debbie said to them as Mark grabs Jesse's hand and he pulls her up stairs to his room while Jesse can hear Debbie chuckling.
In Mark's room, Jesse walks over to Mark's bed and she sits down on it. "I can't believe we almost walk in on them." Mark said to Jesse who looks at him. "Well, we did but your dad was fast to cover it up even if we can hear them from the outside." Jesse said to him as Mark jumps onto the bed and he lays his head on Jesse's lap. "Don't remind me." Mark said to her while Jesse plays with Mark's hair. "Wake me up when dinner is ready." Mark whisper to her as he falls asleep on Jesse's lap.
Later that night, while Mark was sleeping Jesse was going to the bathroom where she sees Cecil in here. "I am getting tired of you and Damien popping out of out of nowhere." Jesse said to him. "How was Mars?" Cecil asks her. "It was very nice, I am planning on going back." Jesse said to him sarcastically. "Donald was in this house while you and Mark was gone." Cecil said to her. "Did he find anything?" Jesse asks him. "I didn't ask him." Cecil said to her. "I would like to ask why not?" Jesse asks him while crossing her arms. "I send him back to hell." Cecil said to her. "Are you out of your mind? What if he find something?" Jesse asks him getting mad. "He didn't listen to me when I told him to drop the case." Cecil said to her. "Never thought you'd be the one to protect him." Jesse said to him. "I need to keep things gray until I can figure out why Nolan killed the Guardians and how to stop him." Cecil said to her making Jesse give him a look. "Give you find out anything you can come to me with the information." Cecil said to her. "Jesse, where are you?" The two hear Mark from outside of the bathroom. "Enjoy your night." Cecil said then he teleports away. "I will try." Jesse said to herself.
As Jesse exits the restroom, she joins the Grayson family at the dinner table. Mark begins to discuss the mission, and Jesse keeps her eyes on Nolan. There is something about him that Jesse no longer trusts.
She is going to uncover the secret he is keeping from her, his family, and the public.
