"you're actually so good!" i smile at the boy as i bring him into a hug after the game against Deportivo Alaves which they'd won 3-0
it was his first start after the little holiday
he'd just scored twice and assisted a great goal by Brahim Diaz
"i am so fucking back" he smiles as he pecks my lips
"you were amazing!" i smile "but we actually have to run to the airport though-" i tell him as i realise there's less than 2 hours till our flight
this was the only flight we could get to Birmingham before christmas, as the conditions would get too icy in birmingham for us to be able to fly there without risking the flight getting canceled

we get onto the private plane, it was just the two of us, on our way to birmingham
"how's your mum?" Jude asks as we sit
mum had been slightly ill lately, and she'd just had a surgery today to get a cancerous tumor removed.
She'd been going through chemo for a while, but it wasn't working as well as they hoped, so they decided removing the tumor would be the best option. But the doctors had assured she'd be perfectly fine.
"Emil said that she'll be fine, but she wants to go home for christmas"
"are they letting her"
"nah, they're saying they need to keep an eye on her, bit jarring, but she'll be fine soon"

jude's pov
no one from our families has a clue about us still
they don't even know that we even saw each other in Madrid
when i had the drop in form, i kept lying to my dad, telling him i was fine, i wasn't proud of it, but i wasn't proud of what i did either, and he just couldn't know anything about Chloe yet
we thought it would be funny if we just showed up to my parents' house who think i can't make it to christmas this year because my coach is sending me on a private training camp in Portugal to sort out my form issue.
And so did Chloe, she said she can't go as she needs to retake one of her exams at Uni which did make her mum a little suspicious since she's literaly never failed a test before.
we'll also make it just in time for Emil's birthday tomorrow, who's been staying with my parents since their mum got ill.

we arrive at my parents' house
we stand outside and i video call my mum, as i'd agreed to call her tonight to say happy birthday to Emil
"hey mum" i smile pointing the camera up at my chin so she can't see the houses in the background
"Hey Jude, you good?" i smile
"yeah, are you?"
"course, were all good"
"is Emil home?"
"yeah he's upstairs with Jobe, they're on the playstation"
"call him"
a minute later Emil takes hold of the phone
"hey Jude" he smiles
"Happy Birthday!"
"thanks mate, how's Spain?"
"yeah decent" i smile "i've got a surprise for you innit"
"go on"
"open the front door"
he looks at me weird "okay?" he mutters as i can see Jobe follow him to the door as they get up
i hear the door unlock
"WHAT THE FUCK?" he yells as he puts his phone in his pocket and runs to hug me
"thought i should say happy birthday in person" i smile
"oh my gosh, is that fucking Chloe?" he says as he spots her behind me
"i thought you'd never ask" she smiles
"wait?" Jobe says "what are you doing together, i thought you hated each other?"
"it's a long long story"
"you two! what's with the noise?" i hear my mother call as we step inside "what the hell are you doing here?"
"thought i'd surprise you"
"is that Chloe?" she gasps as she sees the girl, bringing her into a hug
dad sees us walk in and gasps in shock as well
"wait- are you two friends again?" Dad asks
"you can say that" Chloe laughs as i laugh too
"no! i knew it" mum gasps "you're dating!"
we awkwardly nod as Emil and Jobe stare at us in shock
"how?" Emil asks
"long, very long story" i say
"one you two don't need the details of" Chloe adds
"so are youse staying for christmas?" dad asks
"course" i smile "were here till new years"
chloe's pov
"does your mum know your here?" Denise asks me
"nah, we didn't tell anyone, thought it would be a nice surprise"
"well, we were just getting ready to go to the hospital, you two want to come?"
i smile and nod

we arrive at the hospital
walking into my mum's ward hurt
it reminded me so much of dad
i held myself together, trying my best to not feel hurt
Jude notices my worried face, and wraps an arm around my waist
we walk into the ward where my mum was half asleep, resting on her bed
"mum?" i whisper as i take a seat next to her
she slowly flutters her eyes open
"c-chloe?" she stutters
"hi mum, it's me" i smile, holding her hand
"what are you doing here?" she smiles
"came to see you, of course"
i help her sit up in the bed
she moves her head in my direction
"i thought you weren't coming?"
"you know i was always coming, i just wanted to surprise you?"
she smiles
"don't you want to see the surprise?"
"i thought you coming was the surprise?"
"well i brought someone along too?"
"who? Emil?
"Emil is here, but i brought someone else"
Jude walks in
my mother face drops in shock
"but i thought you two hated each other?"
Jude walks toward my Mum and hugs her
"you've grown since the last time i saw you" she smiles, even though the last time they'd seen each other was only a few months ago "you know Chloe, every time i saw him, he always asked how you were, he never forgot you"
i smile
"so you're friends now?" mum asks
i giggle "were dating mum"
"i see you kept going right from where you left off" she smirks
"we never dated before" i lie
"oh don't lie, i walked in on you two kissing in your bedroom when you were probably 17"
our faces turn red
"it's alright, you two are perfect for each other"
"thanks mum" i smile "how are you though?"
"i'm fine, the surgery went well"
"when are they letting you come home?" Jude asks
"they're saying not until January at least"
"we'll come spend christmas with you mum" i promise her
"no, it's fine, don't spend your christmas in a hospital, i know how much it hurts you"
"no" i insist "we will"
