Kai's POV
"Uhm..Jacin?" Kai couldn't exactly see into the room but Jacin throwing himself unto a platform looking thingy didn't seem like his typical behaviour. Kai walked into the room. Cinder was leaning against the wall with her arm over her eyes.
"She's dead Kai... She's dead."
"Who's dead? Oh.." Kai now had a clear view of what was in the the glass encasing. Winter. It all makes sense now. He turned back to Cinder. She was crying now, tears streaming down her face like the mini waterfalls in his palace. He felt a sudden urge of homesickness, but pushed it out of his mind as he pulled her into a hug. He didn't say anything and just watched as Jacin slumped over, leaning against the glass encasement Winter was lying in. He was sobbing, his shoulders rising and falling. Kai turned his attention back to Winter. Dead people don't ever look that good... "Cinder." He whispered, as if scared to wake the dead. "Cinder I don't think she's dead."
"What?" Cinder said, but it ending up coming out as a sob.
"I don't think she's dead Cinder! Dead people always look pale and they just look.. well dead. Winter has colour in her cheeks." Cinder looked over at Winter in disbelief.
"You're right.." She murmured. "Jacin! Look at her."
"What kind of sick joke is that? The only thing thats kept me breathing is lying in front of me, dead. And you want me to look at her?" Jacin yelled at her going into another case of crying hysterics.
Kai got up and walked over to the case. "Do you have a hammer?"
Cinder grinned and pulled one out of a pocket in her cargo pants. "Yupp."
Kai smiled back at her, thinking it was funny that she would bring one here, of all places. Kai was grateful she did though as he took it from her and poised to crack the glass.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Jacin screamed, jumping up to knock Kai over. He stop suddenly though and sat down cross legged.
"Get this over with. I want to get out of here." Cinder said. "I got him handled" She sighed. "I hate doing the to friends."
"I guarantee it's for the best right now." Kai replied as her cracked up the glass at her feet. It shattered instantly. Not to Kai's surprise, Winter didn't budge. Cinder stood up and came over to brush the glass that had fell on Winter's face off.
"Hey cuz. Nice to meet you...again." Kai heard Cinder murmur. "I'm gonna let go of the glamour on Jacin now, I don't know what he's gonna do, so be prepared." She said, turning to Kai. He nodded in response. Jacin stopped sitting crossed leg and slumped over, he began sobbing again.
"Jacin..Jacin she's alive!"
"There's no way she's alive Cinder!" He sobbed. "Are you delusional? Are your cybernetic eyes screwing you over? She's dead!"
Cinder flinched and looked away, shielding her eyes.
" Jacin that was rude. Your precious Winter is alive. Would you stop sobbing and open your eyes?" Kai retorted to him. "She's breathing! Calm yourself down, we need to get back. "
Jacin took a deep breath and looked up at her. Cinder was holding her now. Winter was as limp as a rag doll, and really wasn't moving, but she was breathing, although you wouldn't think it by just glimpsing at her. " Winter?" He asked.
" Not exactly conscious though." Cinder told him. " We really should get out of here."
" What's that ticking noise?" Kai asked suddenly. Cinder looked over at him. Jacin did too.
" What noise? "
" You don't hear that?" Kai asked. " Just a second." he walked over to where Winter had been lying. There was a crystal timer there. It was ticking all right; ticking down to what though? Kai didn't want to hang around to find out.
" Lets go." Kai said grabbing Jacin's arm and pulling him up, Cinder stood there holding Winter.
"Just a second Kai." She said handing over Winter. No surprise, Jacin took her instead and ran for the hallway to the rampion.
" What? We need to go Cinder; this thing could blow in like 2 minutes. We have to disconnect the rampion still too."
" Yeah, but..." Cinder trailed off, walking over to the timer. " Something's not right here.."
" Maybe that's because it's about to blow up." Kai deadpanned. Cinder walk over to the far wall.
" This is another glamour Kai." She told him taking the hammer from him and throwing it at the wall. Something Kai couldn't see crashed and Cinder let out a gasp of surprise.
" Its those guards!" She exclaimed. Kai didn't even think. He ran straight into what looked like a wall to him and came out on the other side. It was the guards all right. All chained up and and gagged. Cinder came in behind him and broke the bar they were chained to and grabbed the younger one by the arm and started running out.
" Grab the other one! We have to go! Now!"
Kai grabbed him and ran behind Cinder, getting a glimpse of the timer. 30 seconds. Cinder and Kai ran down the hallway like they were on fire. They just made it into the Rampion when they heard a loud explosion. Cinder looked over at him. They didn't need a window to know what that just was. Scarlet came running down the hallway.
"Get to the main area! Quick!" Her eyes fell on the guards. "Who are they?" Cinder didn't bother replying she got back up and passed the younger guy to Kai to carry.
"Get out of here quick. I'm gonna help Scarlet." Kai didn't bother arguing. He got up and started heading to the main area as fast as he could, carrying the guards.
Cinder's POV
" We need to shut the hatch!" Scarlet yelled pointing out at the huge hole in the rampion that was gaping out into space. Thank the stars that this was a military ship. It had been literally made for this sort of thing. Cinder ran and help Scarlet pull it down. It would stop the air from leaving the ship, but it certainly wasn't as tough as the original wall. Nobody would be able to go down that hallway for a while. Getting sucked out into space wasn't on anybody's top ten things to do lately.
" We'll have to fix that when we're back on earth." Cinder told Scarlet. She was almost itching to work on it. "Scarlet?" She asked turning to look at her. She was laying on the floor.
" Can't.Breathe." Scarlet heaved out. Oh. That makes sense. I've got better lungs then her, Cyborg perks, right there.
" Wolf!" Cinder yelled. No response. "Scarlet's hurt!" Within thirty seconds Wolf was at Scarlet side.
"What happen to her?" He asked, picking her up, holding her close. Yup. They're mates all right.
" Well there's not much air in space." Cinder replied dryly.
" Oh." He replied, carrying her up to where the main part of the spaceship was. " So what's up with Winter? She's breathing, but Jacin may as well not be, the way he's acting. He won't leave her side."
" I don't know." Cinder replied. Truthfully, she had no idea. She had never faced this before.
"And what about those guards. Kai got them all unchained and such and Cress is making them some food, but why are they here?"
" I dunno." Cinder replied again. She had a massive headache, and all she wanted to do was sleep. Wolf must have sensed this because he didn't ask anymore questions. He simply walked Scarlet over to the Medbay where Iko was standing.
"Not another casualty! I'm already trying to take care of Winter! And I'm gonna be taking care of Jacin too, by the looks of it. He's so distraught, even Thorne's not bugging him. Then again, he's got more important things to worry about now." Iko told Wolf as Cinder watched them walk into the Medbay. "He's busy consoling himself with that suck-up auto control system of his. I don't care what Cinder says, we still need another auto control system. She is soooo annoying!"
Cinder rolled her eyes and began walking to where the sleeping quarters were. " How you doing?" Kai asked coming up behind her, bringing his arm around her.
" Tired." Cinder replied. " How's the guards?"
" They'll be ok. Cress is feeding them. I think they're tired though."
" They're gonna need a place to sleep then and we don't have any more rooms."
"How about you stay with me?"
"W-what?" Cinder said. "I-i can't I.. Oh sure why not?" Cinder decided. I'm too tired to even feel embarrassed.
"Great." Kai said smiling as he took her hand and continued heading down the hallway. When they got to his room he opened the door and Cinder walked in and crashed unto his bed. Kai laughed softly and laid down beside her pulling an arm around her. "I love you." He mumbled into her hair. Cinder smiled and mumbled it back, before falling into a deep sleep.
Iko's POV
"There's something wrong with her Iko! She's not waking up!" Jacin whined. Iko unkindly snorted and ignored him turning her attention back to a port screen on the wall. She had downloaded a bunch of software about people who had fallen into comas. So far, Iko hadn't found anything, and Jacin was getting more frantic by the moment. "are you gonna answer me?!" He asked.
"Eventually. I'm considering it." Iko responded sarcastically, absentmindedly looking through a filing cabinet that had been here since before Captain Thorne had stolen the ship. Jacin gave an exasperated sigh and flopped over in his chair. Iko just smirked. "If it makes you feel any better, she doesn't look any worse than you do right now." Jacin glares back at her.
"I'm going to go get something to eat. Comm me right away if anything happens." Jacin told her as he stood up and walked out. Well, staggered out. He really did look horrible. Iko sat down and began looking at more medical records. One thing she would never want to be was a doctor. It just wouldn't work out. Then again, Winter's condition wasn't exactly normal.
"Scarlet's hungry Iko." Wolf said poking his head out of the room off the side of the Medbay.
"You could've tell me she was awake." Iko replied. She felt a sudden need for glasses and a lab jacket. "I instructed you to do so." Wolf cheeks tinged slightly with pink, and Iko decided for her best interests, she probably shouldn't push things any further. "Just go get her something to eat."
"Tomatoes?"
"Hanging around with you, I'm sure she's had enough tomatoes to come out of her ears. Get her something else."
"Uhmm.."
"Oh please tell me that tomatoes aren't the only things you've been living off of."
"Scarlet taught me about broccoli... the green things that look like trees?"
Iko rolled her eyes. "No you're talking about carrots." She replied sarcastically. " I don't care, get Cress to make something, at least she knows what good healthy vegetables are."
"Ok..." He said walking out towards the kitchen.
"If you see Jacin, tell him nothing has changed and not to hurry back!" Iko yelled after him. enough of this medical stuff. I need some entertainment. Iko pulled up a web-link and began looking for Carswell Thorne fanfics. She had obsessed over Prince Kai for like, forever, He always had seemed so regal on webcasts and in the numerous fanfics she had read. She'd been a total fangirl. But now that she had met him, the fanfics about him seemed highly unrealistic and it was pretty obvious he like Cinder so Carswell fanfics seemed like a good idea. Speaking of Cinder, I wonder where she went? Iko stopped searching and stood up. She checked on Winter and there was no change, so she went and checked on Scarlet, who was sleeping again. She was breathing ok now though, and Iko was relieved. Wolf was soooo annoying when Scarlet was missing. She closed the door to Scarlets room and left the Medbay. Thorne was driving the ship. Guess he got over the gaping hole in his ship. "Where are we heading captain?" Iko asked
"We, my lady, are heading back to Artemisia."
"I see. Do you know where Cinder is?"
"Indeed I do. Do you want to know a secret about my lovely ship?"
"Why of course."
"Do you promise to keep it a secret Iko?"
"Why of course!" Iko responded in mock astonishment.
"Ok, come here." Iko walked over and sat down in the other cockpit seat. "Look at this." Thorne pressed a hidden button underneath the control system. Suddenly the screen turned into a ton of mini security cameras. "This lovely ship comes with a lot of perks does it not?" Iko looked down at them. In one screen, Wolf and Jacin were arguing, while Cress was sitting on the counter with a glass of water, looking amused. The lunar guards were in that same screen. The younger guy was staring at Cress and the older one whom Iko hadn't bothered to learn the name of, was chowing down into some kind of pasta at the other end of the counter. Another screen showed Winter and Another showed Scarlet, who was walking through on of the hallways to the kitchen, no doubt woken by the noise Wolf and Jacin were making. There was a camera looking down on Iko and thorne's backs. Iko took this moment to make sure the braid she had made in her hair this morning was still in place. In one of the last screens, Iko found Cinder. Asleep in.. Kai's bed? Oh wait, Kai's there too... Iko literally squealed.
"Awwwwwww!!!" She exclaimed.
"Of course no ship is without problems. I'd rather not be able to see things like this when I accidentally hit the button. Whoever made this ship had the smart idea to put that handy-dandy button underneath where you put your legs. I sat down and my leg hit it. Got a nice view of Scarlet and Wolf making out. There are some things in life you will just wish could be unseen..."
That's what was going on. "Just wait till Scarlet finds that button. Cress and you aren't going to be safe anywheres."
"Shush."
