Life at sea, a lot of people may think it's a bad and lonely thing. But not for me. There was a treasure to find. I know what your thinking, I was crazy to believe that such thing existed. But I wasn't, 22 years ago there was a pirate called Gold Roger, he had the same fate as every pirate back then, before his death he announced that his treasure was there to find. My dad started off with the search and I continued it when I reached a certain age. Now it just me and my boat.
Of course I wanted to be apart of a crew but at the same time, how would I ever be able to trust them. Especially if they want to be king or queen of the pirates as well. I'm not sure if I wanted to share that title. Although it would be nice for me to have company. Sometimes I wondered whether I should just leave my hunt behind and start hunting for pirates. There's good money with that. But for now it's me and my boat. It was night soon and I saw Captain Alvida's ship.
I was apart of her crew but I left. I decided I didn't want to be apart of crew that was ruled by someone like her. Of course I left a good friend behind. Koby. As I passed the ship I saw flames. Followed by an arm then Alvida went overboard. I managed to sneak onto the ship. Try and get Koby off.
"Come on. We're gonna need a boat and enough food for a few days." Some guy with a hat on said to Koby.
"Me?" Koby asked him as I started waking over to him.
"Yeah! You're coming with me, right?" The guy asked Koby.
"Y/n, what are you doing here?" Koby asked as he spotted me and I walked over to him.
"I saw flames. Are you okay? Who is that guy?" I asked him and we started following after this guy.
"He's called Monkey D. Luffy. He wants to be king of the pirates. He's assembling a crew." He said to me and we made it over to him.
"Koby, who's your friend?" He asked and I looked at him with a smile.
"I'm Y/n, failing pirate. On her way to get the one piece." I said with a smile to him, that was the only thing that I truly wanted in my life. Get the treasure and become a sense of royalty.
"Well, welcome to the crew." He said to me. We then gathered supplies and got ourselves a boat. We were now a team.
"That look on Alvida's face. I've never seen anyone stand up to her before." Koby said to Luffy. No one's ever been brave enough to face her.
"Should get have messed with you." Luffy said and I was happy that someone had been looking out for Koby. Especially since I'd left. Many moons ago.
"How did you stretch like that?" Koby asked him and this was something that I had missed.
"It's kind of a long story." Luffy said to us and I looked at him.
"If you haven't noticed we're not going very far or fast. You have all the time to tell us." I said to him with a smile. We could all share our life stories at this point. He then told us his story.
"You ate the devil fruit?" We both asked him. I couldn't believe this at all. How did someone even find one of those.
"I didn't know any better. But mine was a Gum Gum Fruit. It turned my body into rubber." He said to us before he pulled his face and it was stretchy. Just like rubber.
"So now what? We have to be going somewhere, right?" Koby asked Luffy who had just led down.
"I feel like we're going nowhere at the minute." I said to him agreeing with Koby's point.
"We are going somewhere. Next stop, to the Grand Line!" Luffy said while pointing to the distance. I didn't even know which way to go to get to it.
"Do you know how to get there?" Koby asked.
"Hmm." Luffy hummed out.
"You can't navigate. You don't even have a map!" Koby got out and I looked at Luffy.
"We could be heading anywhere at this point." I said to them both. This wasn't what I wanted to do.
"Good point! We should probably pick one of those up." Luffy said to us both and I looked at Koby.
"I knew I should've stayed solo." I said to him and then looked at Luffy. None of this would've happen if I was still alone.
"Maybe I've made a mistake. I never should've left Alvida." Koby said to him and we came to a stop on our small boat.
"Koby and Y/n, if you could do anything in the world right now, what would it be?" Luffy asked us both and I looked at him.
"I'd find the treasure if I could." I said to him with a smile. It was impossible but it was the one thing I wanted to do.
"I guess there is one thing, but...it's dumb." Koby said and Luffy stood up. It only then did Luffy slap Koby across the face. "What was that for?" Koby asked him.
"You being dumb. Now spit it out." Luffy said before sitting down opposite us.
"I've kind of...I've always wanted to be...a Marine." Koby said and I remembered that conversation that we had.
"Ah." Luffy got out. Relived that Koby had mentioned it.
"Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to protect people that can't protect themselves. I told you it was dumb." Koby said to him and looked away. It wasn't dumb at all.
"If that's what you want, I think you should do it. We'll help you out." Luffy said and I looked at Koby.
"I'll make it my mission." I said to him with a smile.
"You don't even know me." Koby said to Luffy.
"We shared a meal, Koby. And if being a Marine is your dream...that's good enough for me. Okay. So you plot a course to the Marine base. I get my map, Y/n can get her treasure, and you can join up. Yeah. All right. Well, I'm gonna take that nap now." Luffy said before he laid back down again on the bench.
"You can't just waltz into a Marine base and ask for a map to the Grand Line!" Koby shouted at Luffy. I could tell that he was worse of a pirate then me.
"Don't worry. I'm stealthy." Luffy said before there was an explosion in the distance. Alvida's ship was down.
"Yeah. Super stealthy." Koby said as we then slept going. Once we'd made it to the base I saw all the signs for the wanted pirates.
"I didn't know there were so many pirates!" Luffy said to us and of course there was. Think of how many years had passed.
"There are way worse pirates on the Grand Line. It's terrible." Koby said to us and I looked at him.
"And I'm sure we'll meet every single one of them." I said to him, it was something that I never wanted to do. Unless I truly had to.
"Yeah. Yeah. I know, right? Where's my face? Well, the only one way I'm gonna get inside that base. And it's not on an empty stomach. Come on." He said and we started walking away. Apart from Koby. I then pulled him away so we could get food.
"We already have our food." Koby said to the server as they brought more food to our table.
"Thank you." I said to them with a smile. I could do with eating.
"No, more is better. More is better. You gotta feed the brain. All right, so...I can't get inside the base through the gate, but maybe...maybe...maybe what if I get inside flying? I can grab onto a bird or something." Luffy said to us and I looked at him and shook my head.
"Never going to happen." I said to him.
"That's a terrible idea. Keep your voice down." Koby said. I looked around and laid eyes on him. Roronoa Zoro. He was a pirate hunter, thankfully I wasn't on his radar. But with the way he looked, I wish I was. We kept talking before we heard a dish clatter on the floor. I looked and saw a little girl next to Zoro and a hug with blonde hair.
"You stupid, stupid girl." I heard a guy say to the little girl. I doubt it was her fault. "Why don't you watch where you're going?" He asked her.
"Rika, apologize to our guest." A woman said to the little girl.
"I'm...I'm so sorry." Rika said to the guy. I already had a hatred for him.
"'I'm so sorry!' Next time, I won't be nice." He said to the little girl, mocking her. What an ass.
"You dropped my food." Zoro asked as he bent down to pick it up. "Mm. Delicious." He said before coming back up again with the plate. Placing it in the counter. "Now you eat one. And apologize to the girl." He said but this only made the guy laugh.
"Do you know who I am?" The guy asked and Zoro looked him up and down. How I wish that was me.
"A shithead Marine with a bad haircut." Zoro replied and the guy pulled a sword on him. "I wouldn't do that." Zoro said and watching this unfold just didn't feel real.
"Oh, come on, tough guy. Three swords. I only need one." He said to Zoro whose back was turned to him.
"Okay. But it's gonna hurt." Zoro said to him before they both started to fight. Right there at the bar. Watching this fight it was hard not to fall in love. Although I knew that I could never be with a guy like that. It was all I wanted. And when he started fighting even more of those marines I was even more impressed. That night we were sleeping in the boat.
"I can't stop thinking about that fight." Koby said to us all as we looked up to the sky.
"That guy was amazing. And what's with the third sword? I mean, where does it even go?" Luffy asked us and I didn't even want to know where that sword was.
"That's an answer I don't want to find out." I said to them.
"No. He had to protect that little girl from the Marines, who were supposed to be protecting her. It doesn't make any sense." Koby said to us and that was just how some people were.
"If there are good pirates and bad pirates, then there are gonna be good marines and bad marines too. You'll be one of the good ones." Luffy said to him and I looked at him.
"And I know that you'll only do good." I said to Koby with a smile.
"Maybe Alvida was right. I don't know anything about the world." Koby said to us but that was all different now.
"But you were her prisoner." Luffy told him.
"Yeah, but I knew who I was. Now I have no idea." Koby said to us and I knew that he'd figure it out eventually. He always did.
"Hey, Koby. We need to get into the base and find that map, and we could use some help." Luffy said to him and I mean if this was Koby's stop it would just be me and Luffy.
"And I think that you'll be the best person to help us." I said to Koby and he sat up to look at us.
"You want me to help you steal from the Marines?" He asked the both of us.
"No. Of course not. How about you help us get the boat ready? You can handle that, right?" Luffy asked him. I knew what he was trying to do really.
"I guess so. What are you both gonna do?" Koby asked the both of us.
"I'm working on that." He answered and I had no idea what that meant. When the daylight came upon us. It was time for Luffy and I to sneak in.
"I see a hatch, let's head up there." I said to him and he looked up and saw it.
"Hopefully we'll get into the base." He said to me and when we reappeared we were in a yard. When we looked around I saw Zoro. "Oh, hey. You're the guy from the bar." Luffy said to him.
"Get lost." Zoro said to us. He was all tied up to a cross.
"I am lost. I'm trying to get inside the base. Hey, I saw the way you fight. How did they even arrest you?" Luffy asked and just like that Zoro would come after us now at some point.
"They didn't. I gave myself up." He said to us and that was something I'd never expect from him.
"Interesting choice. I'm sure you had your reasons." Luffy said back to him.
"You don't know anything about me." Zoro said to us and I only knew the small parts.
"I know that you protected that little girl from those Marines last night. You're a good guy." Luffy said to him.
"I'm Roronoa Zoro, the pirate hunter." He said introducing himself but I didn't need an introduction.
"Well, I'm Monkey D. Luffy and this is Y/n, and I will be King of the Pirates. And I think you should join my crew." Luffy said making Zoro laugh at him. I knew that was going to happen.
"What makes you think I'd wanna play pirates with you?" Zoro asked him.
"Because you Dont want to be here for a week." I said to him. I knew how these places worked.
"You're a great fighter. I'd say that together, we'd make a pretty good team." Luffy said to him and he looked at us.
"I kill your kind for a living. Pirate...hunter." Zoro said to us and there was no way he'd be joining us.
"You keep saying that, but is that all you are? Is that all you want?" Luffy asked it went silent for a second. Almost like he was thinking about his answer.
"I made a promise to someone a long time ago...to become the worlds greatest swordsman." Zoro said to us and he could be. I saw how he fought.
"Impressive." He replied back and Luffy and I went over to untie him.
"You can untie me, but I'm still not gonna join your crew." Zoro said to us and I understood that.
"Okay." Luffy said to him.
"I mean it. I don't owe you anything." He said us and I looked at him.
"You sound like you are." I said to him.
"I just think it's a waste of time for you to be hanging out here when there's something you want out there." Luffy said to him before Zoro was completely free. Looking at me helping the enemy. "Good luck on the sword thing. Hey, can you close this behind us?" Luffy asked as we started to leave. "Thanks." He said popping back out again. And just like that we'd gone. It wasn't long before we'd both fallen out of the tunnel. Into a map room. There was someone in there with us. A girl. A Marine. She pulled up her pole.
"We don't want any trouble." I said to her while putting my hands up.
"Whoa! Hey, hey, hey! No, don't do that." Luffy said to her.
"I'm taking you into custody for trespassing on a Marine base." She said to us but she wasn't a Marine.
"Ah. Better take yourself into custody too, 'cause you're not a Marine." Luffy said to her and I knew she wasn't.
"Am too." She said to us.
"No, you're not. I heard everything. You stole that guy's uniform. And now you're looking for my map." Luffy said to her and she lowered her staff.
"Your map?" She asked him.
"Yep. My map to the Grand Line." He said to her and I looked at her.
"And trust me we'll find it." I said to her. She wasn't getting it before us.
"It's my map, and I'm not leaving here without it." She said to us and it looks like we'd have a friendly competition.
"Suit yourself." He said to her and we started walking.
"Hey! Hey! Get back here!" She shouted as she ran back after us. "Do you have any idea what you're both doing?" She asked us and I looked at him. I don't think he did.
"Looking for that Morgan guy's office. Maps there, right?" He said back before he opened a door. We both followed him as more Marines were coming. And we didn't need to get caught once they were gone and out of sight we started walking again.
"That's your plan? Just walk into Axe-Hand Morgan's office and ask him for the map?" She asked us and we kept walking. Not looking back. Except from she was.
"I may have to fight him for it. Why do they call him Axe-Hand anyways?" He asked us and he didn't need to know that answer.
"You are going to get us all caught if you keep stomping around this place. We need a plan." She said to us and I looked at him.
"A good one and now." I said to them before a guy came around the corner. Standing in our way. It was Morgan. We'd been found out.
"Captain Morgan, sir, I was just escorting these prisoners to the brig. They were arrested for causing a disturbance in the square." She said to him.
"And I'd do it again." I said to him.
"Yeah. Prisoner." Luffy said to him.
"I've never seen you before." He said to the girl. We still didn't have a name for her.
"I'm a transfer from the 77th, sir." She said and he put his axe to her face.
"What's your name, private?" He asked her.
"Nami, sir. I put in a request to serve under your command." Nami, if that was even her name, said yo him.
"Wise choice. I expect great things from you." He said to her.
"Yeah. She's the best! I...I mean, she's the best of the worst. I hate the Marines." Luffy said and Morgan looked at him before looking at me. Then lastly looking at Nami.
"Carry on." He said before he pushed past us.
"That was amazing. Admit it. We do make a pretty good team." Luffy said to us as we started to walk again.
"We are not a team." Nami said to us.
"We're competition." I said to her and she gave me an agreeing look.
"Whatever you say. Now all we have to do is figure out a way to get into Axe-Man's office." He said before she stopped us. Showing the keys to his office. "Are those his keys? Oh! How'd you do that?" He asked her and I looked at her.
"Where did you get them?" I asked her and she looked at the both of us.
"I'm a thief." She said and we continued walking again.
"You know, you're really good at thieving...and a good talker too. You should think about joining my pirate crew." He said and she shoved him against the wall. She moves about to fast.
"Let's get one thing straight. I am never joining anything with you. I hate pirates. Hate them!" She said before walking ahead of us.
"That's because you don't know us yet." He said before we went to the office. Time to hunt for that map. "This guy really likes himself." He said once we entered the space.
"I'm going to find the map. Pretend you're both here." She said to us as she went up a set of stairs.
"But we are here." He said to her.
"How about you pretend you're not here. And we look for the map." I said to her and she turned around to face the both of us.
"Why do you want the map so badly anyway?" She asked us and he looked at her.
"I'm gonna use it to find the One Piece and become King of the Pirates." He said to her as we approached where she was standing.
"Figures." She said to us.
"What?" He asked her.
"Every idiot dreams of finding the One Piece. People like you believe in something and you don't even know what it is." She said to us. Technically the One Piece could be anything. It could even be made up but we still believe it's real.
"Well, yeah. Don't you? So why did you become a thief?" Luffy asked her and there could be numerous reasons as to why.
"I didn't decide. I needed to eat. You do what you have to, to survive." She said to us and I looked at her.
"That's a fair enough reason." I said to her.
"You're right. Nothing more important than food." He said to her as I started looking for the map. He was most likely going to be hidden.
"Just find the map." She said to us and that's what he did. He pulled a lever to reveal a box. The map was to be in there. It wasn't long until a loud blaring alarm came out.
"Uh...Do you think they know we're in here?" He asked her and she looked at us.
"No, I think they're after the other thief and idiot pirates trying to steal a map." She said to us and I looked at him. He was the true idiot here.
"What are the odds of that? Kidding. But you might want to work a little faster." He said to Nami who was trying to open the safe. There was a loud banging on the door
"Open up! By the authority of the 153rd Marines!" Morgan shouted at us. And this was it. This was going to be the end.
"You need to hurry." Luffy said to her.
"Anytime today." I said to her, we didn't have much time.
"I can't rush this!" She said to us and she needed to.
"Please hurry! I have an idea." He said to us before he started pulling the safe.
"That's your idea?" She asked him.
"Yeah." He said to us. This wasn't working at all. Until he started to stretch we then led to the vault coming out at a speed. Knocking us out the window. Landing in the yard below.
"How did you do that?" She asked and that's when we saw the mass of Marines coming our way. It was time to fight and we did just that. I saw Zoro appear. Then he walked straight past us. Like he said, he didn't owe us anything. That was before he came back.
"I knew you'd come back." I said to him and he looked at me.
"Save it." He said to me and I went quiet but with a smirk on my face.
"Aren't you that drunk from the bar?" Nami asked him and I looked at her.
"Glad I made an impression." He said to her and that's when Morgan appeared.
"The imposter, the prison hunter, and the prisoners. Fancy that. The three of you working together." Morgan said to us and we looked at him.
"Yeah. We're a crew!" Luffy said to us and I looked at him.
"Nope, not a crew." Zoro and I all said at the same time.
"Not together." Nami said to us.
"No enemy has ever escaped my wrath. I alone defeated the Black Cat Pirates. I alone captured Kuro of the Thousand Plans. And I alone keep Shells Town safe from the scum of the East Blue." He said to us and I was ready to fight him. No one ever scared me. Zoro took the first lead followed by Luffy. Nami and I tackled the Marines. After a while I saw that Morgan had gone down. Finally.
"Whoo! Ah!" Luffy shouted before he started walking over to us.
"Gum Gum Whip?" Zoro asked confusedly.
"Yeah! All the great fighters call out their finishing moves." Luffy said to him with a smile. But the didn't.
"No, they don't." Zoro said to him.
"That's enough now lovebirds." I said to them both with a smile.
"Hate to break up this beautiful moment, but we need to get this safe out of here. Maybe if we find some rope or something." Nami said before Zoro picked it up like it weighted nothing. "Or we can do that." She said to us.
"That way definitely works out better." I said to her before we started walking away to ship that Nami had taken.
"Careful with that!" She said to Zoro who's placed the safe down on her boat.
"Whatever you say. Oh, wait. I don't work for you." He said to her and I looked at them. This wasn't going to work.
"I'm sensing a little bit of tension amongst the crew." Luffy said before I boarded the boat.
"Not a crew." The three of us said at the same time.
"I can't leave without my friend." Luffy said to us and I knew who he meant. Koby. He hadn't been with us all day.
"We can't wait around." I said to him and it hurt me to say that.
"Cant wait. The Marines will be here. Before you know it." Zoro said to us and he was right.
"The Marines are here already. You're under arrest." The blonde guy from last night said to us.
"Nice haircut. Much better. Looks good on you." I said to him with a smile. Luffy started to chuckle.
"What's wrong with his hair?" Luffy asked with a laugh.
"Yeah, I might've done that." Zoro said with a smirk and I looked at him.
"Great job with that." I said to him, then a gunshot filled the air.
"I won't let you make a joke of me. I'm taking you in and handing you over to my father, I'll be the hero. I might even get a medal or something." He said before Koby punched him and I started clapping.
"Way to go, Koby." I said with a smile. It was nice yo have my friend back after a day apart.
"Koby?" Luffy said in excitement that his other new friend was here.
"God, that hurt! It also felt really good too." Koby said to us while shaking the pain out his fist.
"No time to explain, but we gotta go. This whole island is trying to kill us." Luffy said before getting into the boat. But Koby didn't.
"I'm not coming with you." He said to us, he was going to join the Marines.
"You sure?" Luffy asked him.
"Before we met, every choice was made for me. But now I'm gonna do what I want to do. I'm gonna be a Marine. I want to help people that can't help themselves. Next time we meet, we might be enemies." Koby said and I looked at him and smiled.
"Don't think about the next time just remember the past." I said to him with a smile, with all those memories that we made together. That is what would make it harder for him to become my enemy.
"But for now...we're friends." Luffy said to him and I looked at Koby.
"Until the next time. Stay safe my friend." I said to him before he pushed us off the dock. And that was it. The five of us. All having our adventures.
