Maze
I was really wondering what changes that girl's mind towards my Xavier. Hindi kaila sa akin ang mga matatalim na titig niya sa Boyfriend ko sa tuwing magkakasalubong niya ito sa Campus.
I have been observing her and I noticed how boring she is. She wasn't into make up, a gloss was the only visible thing you will noticed on her lips and that normal blush on her cheek whenever her and her friend talks about something. Her clothes are usually consist of plain blouses and jeans and yet she manage to look adorable in them sometimes. Okay, I didn't just said the adorable part in my mind, forget it.
"Maze!"
" Earth to Maze!" Lauren snapped a finger in my face to bring me to reality.
" What?!" I irritatedly asked.
" Wow ha, kanina kapa namin kinakausap, you're spacing out. Ano ba kasi ang iniisip mo?" curiosity was written on Lauren's face.
I would never tell them why. Good thing, I know what are they talking about.
" I was thinking about the dress, I'll get for the upcoming Gala. " I nonchalantly replied.
The Gala is the University’s annual major fundraising event for student scholarships and to formally thank the sponsors and benefactor of the said programme.
" Kailan pa naging issue sayo ang dress' Maze? We all know naman you can have any dress you want, may it be designer's or branded. " si Bea.
" That doesn't mean, i dont have to think about it. Anyway, I have to go the Library, we have a research paper to work on, remember? " I started walking away without waiting for their response.
They can be as irritating as they can right now.
I started looking for books with the topic in mind given by our not so adorable professor, when I heard a familiar voice. It's her, that girl.
What is her name again? Nevermind, I don't care.
She's with her friend as usual. Lumapit ako sa katapat ng ailse kung nasaan sila.
" Tell me Lex? Why the sudden change of heart towards your crush?" dinig kong tanong ng kaibigan niya.
Perks my interest.
" Kasi nalaman ko na, he's not so perfect after all." sagot naman ni girl.
" Nalaman na? Ano ka ba Bess, ako lang to, sabihin mo na kasi." her friend again.
Right!
I was becoming curious and impatient like her friend. Cut the fucking chase and spill the tea already. Gusto ko sanang isigaw sa kanya.
" I saw Xavier and Lauren kissing, nong gabing sinundo namin ni Kuya Mike sa Bar si Maze. "
What the hell!? I wasn't expecting to hear that.. Is she serious?
" What? He's cheating on Maze with her bestfriend Lauren? Sigurado ka ba dyan?" tinakpan niya ang bibig ng kaibigan.
" Shhhhh, hinaan mo nga yang boses mo. Baka may makarinig sayo.. " saway niya sa kaibigan.
To late, i already heard.
I'm contemplating kung magpapakita ba ako sa kanila o hindi. I choose the latert and listened more. The nerve of this girl na gumawa ng kwento.
" Sinabi mo ba kay Maze?" dinig kong tanong ulit ng kaibigan niya.
" What? Bakit ko naman gagawin yon? Tingin mo ba maniniwala yon sa akin? Baka kung ano pa isipin ng malditang yon." did she just?
Now, I'm starting to get furious.
" Pero Lexa, babae ka din, hindi naman tama na niloloko nila si Maze..." her friend added.
I'm starting to like her friend a bit.
" I know and trust me I felt bad pero sino ba ako para mangialam. Nawarningan ko naman na siya nong isang araw, bahala na siya kung makikinig siya. " sabi nong Lexa.
She warned me? When? This isn't true. Xavier and Lauren will never do this to me.
I was about to confront her when the bell rang. They picked up their things on the nearby table and I saw them leaving.
I also went outside habang iniisip kong totoo ba o hindi ang narinig ko.
I saw my boyfriend and my friends on the hallway, Lauren and Xavier was surprisingly closed which only added fuel to my ranging anger. They just moved away from each other when they spotted me.
" Hi babe.." Xavier greeted me.
" Hey.." I replied containing what I feel.
" How was the paper? Tapos mo na ba? Care sharing?" si Bea.
" I haven't started yet, sa bahay nalang." sagot ko.
" Let's hang out? We can go to my place, nag out of town sina Mom at Dad. " Xavier said smiling to me.
" Is everyone invited or only Maze? " tanong ni Lauren, was she implying something?
" Guys, we could all hang out. " Xavier happily replied." Babe, let's go? " tanong niya sa akin.
" I can't, Mom and Dad are coming home. " I lied..
" OMG! They are attending the Gala?" si Miranda.
" Yes.. I need to go home guys. Sorry babe." baling ko kay Xavier.
But instead of being sad, parang sumaya pa ang awra niya after what I said. I saw his eyes twinkle.
" It's fine baby, maybe next time?" sabi pa nito.
" Okay lang yan Maze, may next time pa naman." this time si Lauren naman ang tila kakaiba ang tuwa.
I said my goodbye and went home. Kasalanan lahat to ng babaeng yon. She's poisoning my mind kaya kung ano ano ang napapansin ko, which is hindi naman dapat.
Umuwi akong mainit ang ulo and that girl is going to pay for it.
Pagdating sa bahay ay agad kong hinanap ang salarin.
" Where is she?!" sigaw ko.
I saw my other maid flinched hearing me shout.
" Si Lexa po ba, Seniorita? Baka po padating na yon." tila takot na sagot niya.
" Tell her to come see me when she's home." saka ako umakyat ng hagdan papunta sa kwarto ko.
Padabog na tinapon ko ang bag ko sa bed out of frustration.
I decided to change my clothes. I was pacing back and forth when I heard someone knocked.
" Maze? Pinapatawag mo daw ako sabi ni Ate Marie?" sabi niya when I opened the door.
" You!" turo ko sa kanya. " How dare you na gumagawa ng kwento about Xavier and Lauren! " this couldn't be true.
She was taken aback.
" Anong sinasabi mo?"
Balak pa yata niyang magdeny.
" I heard you and your ugly friend, kanina sa library. You told her, Xavier was kissing Lauren." more shock was written on her face.
" Wag ka na magdeny! " I shouted.
" Sino naman nagsabi sayong magdedeny ako? Oo nakita ko sila." matapang na sagot niya.
" You're lying. You want Xavier kaya ka gumagawa ng kwento. " nagsalubong ang kilay niya.
" This is exactly the reason kaya hindi ko sinabi sayo, you will just speculate about things na hindi naman totoo. Aaminin ko naman noong una, isa ako sa maraming tagahangga ng boyfriend mo, I mean aware ka naman diba, na halos buong University hinahangaan yang nobyo mo but after that night, not anymore Maze." litanya niya.
She's good. But I'm not buying this.
" I even heard him, he spiked your drinks because he want to sleep with you. Kaya ka lasing na lasing nong gabing yon. Lauren knows about it. Sinamahan ko si Kuya Mike sa loob para sunduin ka nong lumabas na tayo, I saw them kissing." she added.
Spiked my drinks?
" Lies, what do you want huh? Why are you lying? " I refused to believe her.
" Hindi ako nagsisinungaling sayo. Nasasayo na yan kung maniniwala ka o hindi. " tila malungkot na sagot niya.
I saw pity in her eyes. That's the last thing I want right now.
" Get out!" i don't believed this..
" I'm sorry Maze pero yon ang totoo, kaya sinabi ko sayo noong isang araw, mag iingat ka kay Xavier. " I remember..
" Get out! " I said again.
I pushed her outside my room and slammed the door.
No one can do this to me.
Nobody can.
Mabilis akong nagpalit ng damit. I will settle this one's and for all. I went to Xavier's house.
Medyo madilim na when I arrived. Naabutan ko sa labas ang maid nila kaya pinapasok na niya ako, Of course she knows me.
" Tuloy po kayo Ma'am Maze, nasa pool area po sila Sir Xavier." she even guided me towards the pool kahit alam ko naman ang daan.
Hindi pa man ako nakakalapit. I saw Xavier sitting near the pool with Lauren on his lap, kissing!
Nanginig ako sa galit but I managed to took my phone from my bag and snapped a photo.
Saka ako tumalikod. I went to find the maid.
" Manang, my Dad called kaya uuwi nadin ako. Wag nyo nalang sabihin kay Xavier na nagpunta ako baka magtampo lang kasi hindi ako nagpakita sa kanila." I lied.
I wouldn't let them get away with this without them paying.
What makes me more mad was the fact, that she was right, that girl' Lexa.
