"I didn't know, that she is your mother, we have a picture of her on the birthday that she was here" There are a lot of questions I wanted to ask her but I guess it's not appropriate to ask them at this time
"It's ok even though I didn't know, that you are the son of the friend she talks about so much adoration, she always used to tell me about your parent's love story, It was fun to listen to all of that" I laughed and this laugh feels like this might be the start of my happy journey.
"About you leaving..." I gulped
"What about it" She turned her head to look at me
"It's that..."
"Is there any problem with something, some products or something" Concern swirled in her eyes
"NO... NO... it's not that, I just wanted to ask, can you work for the Paris project" I spoke everything in one breathe
"Ohh... okay...but I don't think I am ready to move to Paris right now" She ducked her head
"It's ok, you don't have to move right now, for now, you can work from this office only and then if needed you can go that won't take more than a few weeks, you will be ok"
I just wanted to assure her that everything was going to be okay.
"Can I think about it, right now I am not in the right state of mind to make a decision" She looked out of the window?
"Yes, of course, take your time, no rush" Silence filled the car
After another half hour, we reached her apartment, I got out of the car to open the door for her but she was out before I reached there.
"Thanks for today" She waved her hand and started walking
"Hey, wait"
She turned "yes"
"Give me your number so that I can contact you if you want to join the project or leave" She looked at me first like she saw a ghost
"Here, enter your number, I will text you, and you will get my number" she forwarded her phone to me.
"Thanks, stay safe, Bye" I waved at her
"Bye" she also waved back from the entrance of her apartment and I drove back.
"Good morning, Dadi"
"Good morning beta ji"
After we settled with a cup of tea in the garden, I asked the question that had been bugging me since I got to know Ahana's story "Dadi, can I ask something"
"Yes, what is it?"
"After my birthday that she attended, what happened that she lost contact with us"
"No one knows about that, Kartik and Anika tried to contact her after that so many times, but they only knew that she is from Delhi and nothing else"
"Isn't it weird that they lost all contact, all of a sudden"
"Maybe her pregnancy can be the reason for it"
"Yeah, how come she never talked about this mysterious person to Mumma and Papa"
"Who knows, she took all the answers to these questions with herself"
I am in the office waiting for her message, and now I am getting impatient about it. I just hope she accepts the proposal. She is talented, she can be an asset to my company.
"Bhai" Aryan voice startled me
"What?" trying to focus on the document in front of me
"You are reading the document upside down" he started laughing
"So, what, I am talented, I can read a document upside down" irritatingly I replied
"Of course, you are talented" he tried raising one eyebrow, and he failed miserably
"What are you doing here baby brother, don't you have any work" It's my time to tease him
"I came here to tell you about Ahana"
"Is she leaving"
"No, bhai she is looking for an apartment nearby office"
"Ohh, so she is staying" I released the breath which I didn't know I was holding.
"Yo! Bro, I ..." he was about to say something but his phone buzzed "I have to go, this is important" and he left
There was a sense of relief when I heard that she was staying, but she didn't inform me about it. I told her personally to inform me if she needed anything, the thought that she is avoiding me makes me feel uncomfortable.
