viviana was walking through the country club near the pool, her destination was the gym, she had forgotten jeremiah was working at the club
it wasn't like she cared about him to remember he was working there anyway
as the girl was near the pool a voice called out making her smile "vivia" a very smiling cam was passing by viviana, he seemed to be headed the other direction the the girl was going
"hey cam" her voice was soft, her smile was soft too and genuine
"what are you doing here?" cam asked the girl as he stood now in front of her
"i was about to head to the gym" vivianaʼs voice held the same softness
"how has it been?" cam asked her with a soft smile "i feel like I haven't seen you in ages"
"we should hang out sometime later" viviana offered immediately, somehow she couldn't bring herself to be mean to cam
cameron and viviana were friends when they were kids, as they grew up they didn't see each other much but viviana still cared for the boy.
maybe it was that one night the boy found her alone at night drunk, he didn't leave her alone, he took her home and made sure she was okay
he cared about her, in a time no one did, so viviana couldn't bring herself to stop smiling when she just heard his name
"hey vivi" a voice said as his arm was around the girl's shoulder, pulling her closer
"jere" viviana said sweetly, side hugging the boy as cam raised a brow at the two
"cam" jeremiah nodded at the boy who smiled at him
"when I heard about you two I didn't believe it" cam spoke up, his words directed towards viviana more
cam didn't have a chance to continue as jeremiah spoke up "i told you we were the most interesting thing to happen this summer vivi" viviana only laughed
"you mind if I call you cam cameron?" jeremiah asked cam, and viviana could see it in his eyes, there was this slight embarrassment in his eyes that made viviana want to break jeremiah into two peaces literally
"yea it's cool feel free" cam smiled at jeremiah, as viviana looked between the two confused
"i have to go" cam said as he checked the time but he smiled at viviana "text me when you get back home? " cam asked the girl who nodded with a smile
"yea I will" viviana smiled at cam as he turned and walked away, her smile fell slightly as she turned to jeremiah
"if it wasn't for gigi glaring at us now, I would have murdered you right here and right now" viviana whispered
jeremiah raised a brow "that's the only reason?"
"i also don't want to waste my time hiding your body and cleaning up the blood" viviana said after a moment if silence
"how do you know cam?" viviana asked the boy as the two were walking away, going somewhere where no one could see them
"i met him at the bonfire" jeremiah mumbled
"yea well just because he was with belly doesn't give you a right to be mean to him" viviana snapped, but kept her voice low and the smile was still on her face
"i wasn't being mean" jeremiah laughed
"yes you were" vivianaʼs teeth were gritted
"you are one to talk"
viviana stayed quiet for a few seconds until she spoke up again " i am being nice to belly just for your sake, so be nice to cam"
"does someone have a little crush on cam cameron?" jeremiah teased as viviana rolled her eyes
"mind your business jeremiah" if anyone could get under her skin, it was always jeremiah
"how is it fair that you know I like belly but you never told me you liked cam?"
"i don't like cam" viviana sighed "he is my friend and I am not going to upset my friend because of you"
"yea friend" jeremiah laughed "as if anyone could handle being your friend"
viviana froze, there it was again, his stupid words and jokes that somehow always got to her
as viviana started walking away jeremiah sighed " stop taking everything so personally" jeremiah grumbled as he held the girl's wrist
"let go" her voice was hard, it was far from her sweet voice to cameron
"i didn't mean it" jeremiah whispered but viviana only pulled her hand away and continued walking away
but instead of going to the gym, she went home and sat in her room with some of her mother's alcohol
she didn't even care what she picked, she just wanted to get drunk

JULY, FIVE YEARS AGO
viviana was confused, jeremiah hadn't been talking to her. she thought maybe he was just busy
it wasn't until she saw him with belly when she walked towards the back door of the beckʼs house that she saw him with belly, he was laughing with her, while he had been giving viviana the cold shoulder for days
she had been originally looking for conrad after susannah had let her in, claiming that she didn't know where conrad was.
standing there with hurt clear on her face, viviana was startled when a hand landed on her shoulder, she turned around to find susannah smiling at her
"i cant find connie" viviana spoke up immediately as susannah took the girlʼs hand in hers
she had led her to the family room, which surprisingly was empty as susannah sat down and patted the space next to her for viviana
"i heard about your argument with belly" susannah said softly making viviana frown "i didn't do anything, I swear"
viviana never sounded so desperate which made susannahʼs heart break for the girl " what really happened then ?"
"she tripped!" viviana said defensively thinking susannah was blaming her "i wasn't even that close to push her or do anything"
"i believe you" susannah rubbed the girl's cheek softly
"jere has been avoiding me ever since it happened" viviana mumbled, her voice cracking
" jere would never ignore you vivi" susannah smiled softly "i will talk to him, it's probably nothing like what you think" susannah only continued for the sake of the girl, she wanted to comfort her because she knew something was wrong
"thank you" viviana mumbled as susannah opened her arms for the girl to hug her, and viviana layed there in her arms as susannah played in her hair
it was pretty obvious to anyone the girl was going through something, even if conrad never told susannah when she would ask about her but she knew something was wrong right away, she just couldn't figure out what it was
but whenever viviana was around one of her boys, she seemed happy, she was always smiling around the two.
conrad was understandable, because they had been best friends ever since they met, when she was five.
but her and jeremiah weren't at that time, as jeremiah was too shy to talk to the girl back then
so susannah sat there, comforting the girl until conrad walked in the room.
he was originally looking for susannah, so finding her with a sleeping viviana was confusing to him
"hey" conrad said softly, careful not to wake up the girl for a thirteen-year-old conrad was way too responsible
especially when it came to taking care of viviana
susannah smiled at him "vivi was looking for you"
"when did she sleep?" conrad asked softly " not too long ago"
conrad was immediately at his mother's side, helping her lay viviana down on the couch as the girlʼs face twisted he played with her hair, knowing how it makes her comfortable
as conrad pulled a blanket over her, susannah smiled at him "you are always so good to vivi"
susannah didn't know it back then, but she was wrong, in her eyes, conrad either loved belly or vivi
he was so caring towards the two, more towards viviana so susannah always assumed he loved her
it wasn't that conrad didn't love her — because he did — just not in the way his mom thought he did
and that misunderstanding was terrifying for susannah, because she knew somehow, someone she cared about would end up heartbroken if this wasn't just a silly little crush

viviana always said she never cared about people's opinions on her, she always said people would always find something to judge you for
and if people could read thoughts, they would be surprised on how the last week of summer all she could think of were the people that insulted her and what they said
jeremiahʼs insults, along with every encounter she had with belly.
so when belly found the girl, staring blankly at the ocean, as if it was her greatest enemy , she didn't think the girl was thinking about something
"hey" belly smiled, a small smile that viviana felt as if it was forced
"oh hey belly" vivianaʼs voice was soft, at least the softest she could around someone she barely liked
"i didn't know you were friends with cam" belly spoke up making viviana raise a brow
"i have known him since we were three or something" viviana shrugged as belly nodded
"do you think he likes me?" belly asked "i mean we kissed after the bonfire but I just don't know"
"cam wouldn't kiss you if he didn't like you" viviana said, all thoughts of helping jeremiah gone immediately
"did — did you ever kiss cam?" belly asked quietly
"what? no! " viviana laughed it off "cam is like my brother"
"good" belly nodded
viviana didn't understand the girl, why she was so mean to viviana when she was trying to be nice to her for the stupid fake dating to be done was something viviana couldn't understand
the two stood in silence until vivianaʼs eyes caught onto something far behind belly
as belly turned around to look, she was met by a couple standing on the beach, the beach was empty so they could see them perfectly
at least viviana did, as for belly she didn't know who they were
but viviana never said anything, she just turned to belly with a small smile
"i have to go" viviana said as belly nodded
just as viviana was about to walk away belly spoke up"i am sorry"
vivianaʼs head turned towards the girl so fast at the words "what?"
"i shouldn't have blamed you for them crashing my date — they were practically crashing yours too — and for everything I said too" belly said, her voice almost sincere
"it's okay" viviana smiled
"no it's not"
"i would have been mad if someone crashed my first date with someone I actually like" viviana laughed it off
"what?" belly mumbled
"you like cam, right?" viviana asked as belly nodded "if i liked someone as sweet as cam, I would have been furious if my date got crashed by some stupid teenage boys" viviana laughed now
"you weren't mad conrad and steven crashed your date with jeremiah?" belly now raised a brow
"we went to the book signing actually" viviana said awkwardly "but of course I would have preferred to be with jere somewhere else without them"
"why do you like him?" belly asked suddenly, it sounded as if she was questioning her in an investigation
but viviana brushed it off "jere is just so sweet, he always knows what to say in the right time, he knows everything that makes me happy, he is always looking out for me, he is always so supportive and kind"
the two stood quietly for almost a minute until viviana spoke up "i mean I can't believe you never felt anything for him when you were younger" viviana laughed
"yea he was always so sweet" belly nodded
"cam is sweet too" viviana said with a smile as belly nodded

as viviana sat in her room, rethinking her words to belly, it made her internally cringe, she was being a horrible friend to cam that was for sure, but in her mind she was looking out for him
because belly didn't like him, it was pretty obvious to viviana that belly didn't like him, she couldn't figure out why though
and it wasn't like belly was a good person in vivianaʼs eyes, besides everything that happened between the two, belly was probably just apologizing because she wanted something from viviana
and cam deserved someone better than belly, in vivianaʼs eyes cam deserved the entire world
viviana was reckless, rude and many other things, but stupid wasn't one of them for sure.
and she didn't believe belly's intentions were pure to her or cam.
and while she wouldn't have given it two thoughts for the girl's intentions towards her, she would always have the thought of belly using cam
and viviana didn't want to see cam hurt, not over someone who didn't even deserve to know him

don't expect things to be good with vivi and jere soon, like yea they have some sweet moments but there's still that tension
