Reminder: Last chapter of the arc! (Not last chapter of the story.)

3rd person POV:

Miles landed on the rooftop of the hospital, and dialed his mom's number on his phone. "Hello, mijo?" His mom responded to the call. "Hello mami," He responded to his mom. "Which level are you working at?" Miles asked. "Level 3, I've told you many times. What happened? Are you hurt?" His mom responded, full of worry. "I'm fine, mami, bye" Miles said and he hung up the call quickly. "Are you sure about this Miles? I can- " Gwen asked but was cut off as Miles scooped her up and carried her bridal style. Miles smiled at her with the little part of the mask that was still exposed to Gwen, and then pulled it down to cover his face fully as he looked down the building. "I'm sure. Let's go" Carrying Gwen, Miles slowly scaled down the building onto the third floor, and as they reached the level, Miles spotted his mum at a room, and approached it. While his mom was packing some stuff, he slowly opened the window and then hopped into the room, startling Miles's mom in the process. "Who- OH! Spider-Man? OH MY GWEN! Oh sweetie what happened?" Miles watched his mom panic as she processed what was happening in front of her. She rushed to Gwen's side as Miles/Spider-Man slowly and gently set Gwen down on the patient's bed, and then locked the door for safety. "I got involved in the uh- situation downtown." Gwen said to Ms. Morales, who fussed over her cuts and the state of her leg, which was being supported by a spider-webbing cast. "And I think Spider-Man here has something to say to you." Gwen said, glancing over at the boy before giving him a smile of encouragement.

Mile's mom turned to look at the masked person in front of her, unsure of what to expect. On the other end, Miles's heart was beating tightly. He's never had so much pressure in a situation, and he was wondering if rushing into such a decision was a good idea or not. What if his mom becomes scared of him? What if his police dad arrests him for being a 'vigilante'? What if his parents... won't accept him? As he hesitated, he looked to Gwen for support. His nerves seemed to melt away as he met eyes with her, and that warm smile of hers reassured him everything would be fine, just as she said earlier on the rooftop..

-Mini time change (Minutes ago.)

"What if they don't accept me for being a hero? What if they get scared of me? What if they... don't want me anymore?" Miles stressed to himself on the rooftop, and Gwen sat next to him, head on his shoulder, listening to his anxious words. "Miles..." She said, using her hand to turn his face to meet hers. "You'll be fine. Your parents are great people. They..... Love you more than you realize. I know they're always away and that bothers you but.... Family is always everything. They do love you. Just like how you love them. Don't worry." Miles's head drops down a bit and the two's foreheads meet. Both closing their eyes and enjoying the other's presence next to each other. "Thanks Gwen. What would I ever do without you?" Mile said. Gwen chuckled. "Without me...... You'll just be a goofy clumsy kid in school." Miles scoffed. "Hey!" Gwen laughed and kissed his left cheek. "I'm kidding, Spider-boy" She teased, "But if anything does happen.... You always have me. We go through everything.... Together."

-Time changes back to the present.

Miles then looked at his mom, who was still curiously waiting for his words. Miles gulped, and finally found the courage to speak. "Thing is..... I brought Gwen here because... I trust you." His mom's eyes widened in surprise. "Why would you?" She asked, confused. Miles sighed, and gripped the bottom of the mask with one hand, preparing to do something he didn't think he would ever do. "It's because you're my mom" He said, as he ripped the mask off in front of his mother. Miles's mom covered her mouth with her hands as a massive gasp escaped her lips. "You- I- Spider- What?" His mom stammered and struggled to find the right words. "And she's.... Spider-Woman mom..." Miles managed to say, and then his mom's eyes darted to Gwen's face, who chuckled nervously, but still nodding in confirmation. "You- How- Oh my god." His mom finally managed, and she turned away to go to Gwen. "Mom I-" Mile said, surprised his mom just walked off. "We will talk about this later," His mom said sternly, cutting him off. "Right now I need to treat her wounds.... Oh Gwen sweetie, you poor girl...." She trailed off, slowly grabbing supplies from the shelves to treat her son's girlfriend's injuries. Miles just stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to say. "We'll discuss it at home," his mom repeated. "And you tell your dad about all this," Rio Morales said to her son.

-Time skip

Mile's mom had treated Gwen well at the hospital, and added with her spider powers, she was recovering well. After checking up on Gwen, Miles had swung back to the scene of the earlier battle to find out what happened. There, Miles found himself yet again wiping tears of sadness while seeing his dad do the same when he saw his brother's corpse on the ground (Sorry low-key dark.). Miles swung down to officers to tell them what happened (Well part of it. Obviously he didn't mention he knew Margo, or the fact he was Spider-Man, or that the dead man was his uncle; he told them about the fight and how the Prowler died heroically saving him.). Miles then hesitantly turned to his dad, who had just walked up to listen to Spider-Man's words. Miles turned to his dad hesitantly as he finished, wondering what he would say. "I'm sorry sir, for your loss." Miles said, trying not to break again. "If only I was more aware.... He would be alive. He- he was a great man." Miles managed to say. To his surprise, his dad didn't berate him or anything, or blame him. Instead he hugged Miles/Spider-Man. "Don't blame yourself for this, It's not your fault. Plus.... Aaron would've liked this. Dying a heroic death. Just like how he always used to say it when we were children..." His dad says, desperately trying to hold back tears as Miles were. The two embraced even more tightly, and both soaked the other's shoulder with painful tears. After crying with his dad, Miles went on the most pressing issue.... Margo. The girl knew his identity and that.... Wouldn't be good. Miles approached the police van where she was being held, and she waved at her. But Margo..... Didn't seem to recognize him. In fact, she seemed almost deranged, a similar crazy look to earlier when she had her powers except.... Now she just looked crazy, instead of crazy and scary. Miles theorized either the emotional toll of the situation just broke her, or the powers she had previously possibly corrupted her mind. One way or the other, he was happy that he didn't have to deal with his identity going around public.

-Time skip

Miles and his mom sat at the dining table as they got home, Miles just scrolling through his phone and his mom sipping a cup of coffee. Miles had also told his mom the news about Uncle Aaron, and now they were waiting for Miles's dad to come home and Miles could.... Tell him the news. Miles picked at his suit and mask underneath his clothes, anxiously waiting, when.... He heard the door unlock. Miles heard his dad walk through the door. He could see his face still red from crying earlier, but he was holding on, making sure he didn't break down in front of his son and wife. "I've got news...." He announced. He looked tearfully at his family, especially his son. He knew it would be hard on them. "Uncle Aaron... is dead." He shut his eyes, but opened them again as he felt a hug... from his son. He felt his son let out a tearful cry, and he comforted him... although.... He couldn't help but feel that the hug felt awfully familiar. They cried it out for a bit, Miles's mom also joining in and comforting her son. And when they broke apart, Miles wiped his tears, and said "Dad.... I already knew that... and I have something to tell you." His dad looked over confused, raising his eyebrow, but signaled for his son to continue. Miles sighed deeply, as he had done just hours ago. Miles ripped off his shirt to reveal his Spider suit underneath, and said "Dad, I'm Spider-Man." He said, and watched as his dad's eyes widened in shock, and even had to hold the wall to not fall in surprise. "You- what?" he said in shock. Miles sighed, and motioned for him to sit down with him and his mom. He proceeded to explain everything, how he had gotten his powers, how he met Gwen as Spider-Woman, and their relationship (leaving some details out obviously 💀), and how he had started to help save the city. His parents looked on in shock, neither of them interrupting him as explained everything.

"So you're Spider-Man," His dad sighed, and buried his head in his hands. Miles nodded. "How did we not notice? All those times you came home injured? That time you 'fell down the stairs?'" Miles chuckled awkwardly, but stopped abruptly. Not the right time. "But why Miles?" His mom asked. "You're so young. You can't be going out there risking your life for all this." Miles wasn't happy. He appreciated the concern, but he felt that his parents were gonna reject and not let him be Spider-Man anymore. "Dad does it everyday!" He spoke. "He risks his life on the daily!" Miles's mom nodded in disapproval. "He's an adult. You're not." Miles scoffed "No offense, but I can single-handley take on the whole police force and win. I am capable." His dad crossed his arm, starting to look stern. "There's a difference. You don't have the maturity. You're still a boy. You-" Miles felt himself heat up. He hated being called a boy. He cut his dad off "I'm not a boy! I'm old enough. Plus you both should know better than anyone about making sacrifices! Doing the job! Focusing on the mission! Both of you took an oath right? To serve a city and its people. Because you have the skills and talents for it. Well what difference is there? I'm doing this because I have the skills and talents for it! I'm serving the city using my powers to the best of my ability!" He finished staring at his parents, who were both surprised by the outburst from their child. The two parents shared a look, and they left the room for a bit. Miles decided not to follow, and heard their murmur in their bedroom. When they came out, Miles looked at them cautiously, not knowing what to expect. Miles's dad sighed and said "Look Miles... we talked and maybe.... You're right. But you're still so young. Things can go wrong. And you're so powerful. I need you to promise me something." Miles nodded in response to his dad's words. "You have great power... and with great power, there must also com with-" Miles cut his dad off "Come with great responsibility.." He trailed off, tears coming to his eyes as he remembered who said those words first. His dad rushed over to hug him, and said "I knew you were a smart boy," he said, looking at his son. Miles looked up at dad tearfully. "Those were some of Uncle Aaron's last words... exactly what you were gonna say..." He said. Jefferson Davis shifted uncomfortably at this, but he was also happy. Despite their differences in life, he was happy he and his brother had one massive thing in common: Looking after Miles and making sure he goes the right way in life. His smiled at his son again, and said "Then you should know to promise me not to abuse those powers, and always use them well." Miles nodded, but he kept sobbing into his dad's uniform, while his dad patted his head.

                                                                      (Imagine Miles taller)

His mom also joined in, comforting their son while he continued letting out tears of sadness. They knew this would hit hard on Miles... especially when he blamed himself for this. "Miles it's not your fault ok?" his mom says. Miles nodded, but his head still drooped in sadness and regret. "Just promise me you'll get home in one piece every time you go save the city," His mom said, and the three embraced as a family again.

-Time skip (Few days in the future)

Gwen woke up early in the morning to her phone buzzing quickly. She had recently been finally allowed to depart the hospital on Rio Morales's permission, but even with the medical help and her spider healing, her leg injury still bothered her. She had found it hard to sleep at times, and her phone easily woke her up at that moment. She picked it up, annoyed, but her annoyance faded and her angry look softened as she saw the messages were from Miles, asking if they could talk. She happily responded yes, and where. She hadn't seen her boyfriend at all over the past few days, with her being in hospital, and Miles fighting crime as the city's lone hero for the few days she was out. She had also decided to give him his space, knowing that Miles was close with his uncle and everything. Plus she knew if he wanted to talk he'd come to her. And she was right. He finally did. Gwen took her head out of her thoughts as she heard the notification ring again, to Miles asking her if they could meet up at the top of the Williamsburg Bank Building. Gwen sighed as she saw the place name of the tower, the name instantly bringing memories of well.... Their first kiss (Chapter 41). Gwen quickly responded to say she could show up, and quickly took her suit from her closet, put it on, and climbed out her window....

(No I don't play Fortnite, the picture just looks cool.)

-Time skip

Gwen shot another web at the top of the tower, and finally landed on the clock tower. She slowly crawled down and saw Miles sitting there, staring at the view far away. She sneaked up on him, and hugged him from behind, kissing his forehead. He smiled, but Gwen could tell from his lack of reaction he knew she was there. She let go of him, and slowly slid down next to Miles sitting there. "How's the leg?" Miles asked, grasping her hand and staring at her, and Gwen chuckled. "You're such a worrisome kid. I'm fine. DO you not trust your mom?" She said, playfully pushing him. Miles let out a small chuckle in response. "My bad," He said, "Forgot you had the best doctor in the world." Gwen leaned her head on his shoulder, and now she had her chance to ask. "How are you though? And how did your parents respond?" Miles shifted uncomfortably. Gwen knew it was a tough topic to handle for him, mainly with his uncle, but she knew the best way for him to deal with it was to talk about it. No one knew better than her...... "My parents.... Took it well." Miles responded, obviously avoiding the first question. "It took me a bit to convince them I'm fine, but they took it well... and they said later on that they were happy that you were my partner in crime" ( Figuratively, I just mean they're good partners, they're heroes obviously. It's a play of words.). Gwen chuckled. "You didn't answer my first question though, she looked straight at him, the crystal blue eyes of hers meeting the troubled dark brown ones of Miles Morales. Miles took a deep breath. He didn't know what to say, and he didn't know if he wanted to. But he looked back again at his girlfriend and he knew.... If there was anyone he would talk to about anything, even a topic like this.... It would be her. Miles took a deep breath, and said "I miss him."

Gwen nodded in understanding. She never met his uncle, but she knew Miles was very close with him. Miles said previously that his uncle was 'basically himself but in adult form', even going on to say they had more in common then he had with his dad. Well that was, until Miles got his powers and understood why his dad went to work everyday knowing it could be his last. She also knew Miles blamed himself for the death of his uncle. Gwen also kicked herself slightly for it. If she had sensed Margo.... They could've avoided the tragic death of a good man. Gwen pushed herself up and kissed his forehead, and she could feel Miles's tensed features soften as he felt more comfortable. "I miss him so much...." Miles trailed off, tears yet again forming in his eyes. Gwen started humming a lullaby, and signaled for Miles to continue. Miles somehow found the strength to continue, Gwen's presence and her humming calming him down despite his sobs.

Miles went on to pour out his heart, talking about all about his uncle; How they first interacted, how he actually was scared of him to begin with, how they started hanging out, how his uncle went on to be his most trusted person (Before Gwen came along obviously.), how he was almost like a second father figure, how his uncle unlocked his interest in art and painting, how his uncle taught him the ways of life when his dad was busy, just everything about the man who was so crucial in Miles's upbringing, who was so dear to him.... And now he will never be able to paint with him again, laugh with him, talk with him.... Heck, do anything just to be able to see him in person again... But that's something that can never happen again. Gwen stopped humming halfway, just listening attentively, occasionally squeezing Miles's arm to comfort him when he looked like he couldn't continue. As Miles finished, he looked back at Gwen, who's own eyes were wet with tears just like him. Miles grabbed his girlfriend and pulled her into a tight embrace, and he let out a painful sob, and Gwen just patted his back, and muttered words of encouragement. Miles took a few breaths to compose himself, and he pulled away, staring off at the city below him. Gwen scooted next to him, and after wiping her own eyes, said "Feel better?" Miles looked at her gratefully. "A lot. Thanks so much. Though it'll probably take forever to get over this..... This helps so much. I probably wouldn't have done this.... Without you." And he knew he was right. Like the situation with Margo, he probably would've just bottled his feelings, shoved them under the rug (not actually, play of words), ignored the trauma and pain, and just let his future self deal with the pain when it comes back to haunt him. But thanks to Gwen..... He's been able to get over, or at least start to get over, both of these issues.

(This picture and it's message is very important everyone. Don't forget. If you need help reach out to people. But don't take it out on other people.)

Gwen looked at Miles. "My pleasure," She said, hugging Miles, who smiled in return. "How are you so good at this though? Like helping me deal with the pain?" He asked Gwen, who all of a sudden was very interested in looking at her hands. Miles looked on curiously, as his girlfriend didn't respond for a while. He waited, just as she had for him, to talk. And when she finally talked.... "Because I know what it feels like. To lose someone you love so dearly" She said, through broken words. Miles was shocked... he didn't expect this. And just as she had, she grasped her hands to give her comfort. Gwen looked up, and she gave him a small smile, but then looked away and sighed. "Miles, you ever wondered why you never met my mom?" She asked. Miles took a few seconds to process what she said. "Oh...." Miles responded, to a confirming nod from Gwen. Miles felt so bad for her.... All this time she was helping him... when she had her own issues as well. "She passed away when I was young. I don't remember her too well, but I was still old enough to know her well enough. Young enough for her to teach me some ballet, young enough for her to take me to kindergarten, even my first few months of primary school time....." Her words drifted off as she took a deep breath. Miles pulled her closer to him, and allowed the girl to lean onto his chest. She had been letting her shoulder for him to cry on, so it was only right he did the same. Support her. It was Gwen's turn to talk about her issues. How she remembered her mom, how she was a popular ballet dancer, how she taught Gwen ballet, how she was a great mom just like any other..... And when her mom passed......how she struggled in ballet when she was compared to her mother.... Her struggles in general without a mother figure for her whole life... how she had to teach herself so much with the absence of a mother and many times a father due to her father's countless hours in the police station solving crimes. Gwen tearfully talked, and Miles this whole time was by her side, just as she had been for him previously. "......And that's why I was so good at comforting you.... That's the stuff my dad used to do to calm me down.... Maybe not as intimate as you are though Morales," She finished, leading to a chuckle from Miles.

"Gwen.... I never knew." Miles finally said, and Gwen just smiled at him. "Now you know," She replied. "But it's ok. I've had years to go over this.... But still thanks Miles. I still needed this. It's a tough topic to think about, nevermind talking about." She finished as she laced her fingers with Miles, and the two shared a quick kiss. The two just sat there for a while, staring at the view, then Miles said "What next for us?" Gwen continued to look at the view, but Miles could tell she was pondering like him.... What is next? "Well hopefully some calm months where we fight crime normally, and don't almost die every few days and.... Maybe a date would be nice Morales. Like a proper one. Going out and beating people up, and almost getting killed is nice.... But not very romantic." Miles chuckled. He loved how she developed a sense of humor as well since they started dating.... It was just like him, but it was lovely to him when she did it. "A date would be nice..." He said as they looked at the skies......

(The picture represents how they're on the rooftop in the scene, and how they're in love but don't know what's next for them in the future of their lives, Spider-lives, and their relationship.)

I'm back! Like I said it won't be daily posts of chapters, but.... this time it was because this chapter is like 4,000 words long to the normal 900-1100 words. I guess it's a reward for everyone for waiting. It's also extra longer than usual since like I mentioned previously, this is the  last chapter of this arc, until we move onto something else in this story, which is still Spider-Man related, and Gwen x Miles related.

I might take a short break before I start, since I'm still planning this new part, but it won't be long before I post a lot again.

________________________________________________________________________________

One question, how does everyone feel about the story so far? Any criticisms or anything? Since I'm moving to a new part of the story I'm looking for feedback before continuing!

________________________________________________________________________________

Second question, Do you guys want a chapter where it's just a Gwen and Miles date, before I start the arc, or do you guys want me to delve straight into the arc? Comment which option you'd prefer in the comments so I know which to pick!
