"Here are the diapers, burp clothes,
a spare onesie, his pacifier, his
jaguar plushie, two bottles of milk
and here's a variety of baby food.
You can choose, I just packed what
I saw first. If you have any questions,
call us or text us, okay? We'll have our
phones right beside us all the time."
"Min, they'll be fine.
Our bub is unproblematic, isn't he?"
Jisung chuckled as he caressed his
sleeping baby's chubby cheek gently
but truth to be told, he was
nervous as hell.
It'd be the first time they would
actually give their child into
someone else's care for a few
hours and he was already missing
their kitten even though he was
still right beside him, slumbering
peacefully in his daddy's arms.
Of course he trusted Hyunjin and
Seungmin but it was just hard to
leave his little kitten for a while
without knowing how their
baby would take it.
What if he started crying the
moment his parents left and the
other couple won't be able
to calm him down at all?
"We'll definitely call you the moment
we get overwhelmed, we promise.
But I hope this little cutie will
have a fun time with his uncles."
Hyunjin cooed at Akemi when he
kicked his tiny feet in his sleep.
"I hope so too."
But Minho's voice was definitely
less enthusiastic than his friend's
as he carefully placed his small
son in Hyunjin's arms and placed
a soft kiss on the baby's forehead.
"Bye kitten, I'll miss you.
See you later, hm?"
He sighed, stroking the cute,
chubby cheek one last time.
A small hand grabbed his and
squeezed it gently, reminding him
that it was time to say goodbye.
Just a few hours, they'd be fine
and so would their son be.
"Bye bye, bub.
Behave, okay?"
Jisung chuckled before he kissed
his son's cheek as well and
turned around to leave.
He knew that if he didn't leave
instantly after saying goodbye,
he wouldn't be able to leave at all.
Who could blame him though?
Akemi had been with him practically
24/7 for over a year now apart from
the few times Minho had gone on
a walk with Akemi to give
Jisung a break.
"You'll be back faster than you think,
just enjoy your baby-free time, huh?"
But the couple could only
smile half-heartedly.
Being a full time parent wasn't
something you could turn off from
one moment to another and maybe,
just maybe, the two didn't even
want a break from their adorable,
squishy kitten.
Still they eventually left after one
last glance at their peacefully sleeping
son, determined to return from their
appointment as fast as possible.
"So.. Should we let him sleep
until he wakes up by himself?"
Seungmin wondered, resting his
head against his boyfriend's shoulder
so he could look at Akemi too.
"I think so. They left the car seat
here but Minho said we could also
let him sleep on the bed as long
as we put some pillows around
him so he doesn't fall off the bed."
"I don't think I can leave him
alone though, let's cuddle in bed
while he finishes his nap, hm?"
"Sounds good, Minnie."
Together they made their way to
the bedroom so they could place the
small, sleeping baby on the bed and
made themselves comfortable beside
Akemi so they could watch
him from both sides.
The little boy didn't budge, still
suckling happily on his pacifier
and grabbing intuitively onto his
leopard plushie's fluffy ear when
Seungmin placed it beside him.
And the couple was more worried
about his reaction when he'd wake
up and realize that his parents
weren't near at all.
"So far we're doing pretty good.
It's been already ten minutes
since they left and nobody
is panicking so far."
The brunette chuckled and smiled
when Hyunjin reached his hand out
to gently stroke the dyed bangs
away from his boyfriend's eyes.
Despite Minho's words to his assistant
that this could be their test if they
were ready for a kid, Hyunjin
knew that it was far too early
to talk about children.
They weren't even dating for a
year yet and despite knowing each
other for more than a year, they still
took things at their own pace.
And truth to be told, despite raising
children with Seungmin sounding
like a dream, the ravenette really
wanted to enjoy their time as
a couple for now.
A baby could put a lot of pressure
on a relationship and demand a
lot of care and attention.
But for now all of Hyunjin's attention
was on the beautiful puppy-like boy
in front of him he could finally
call his boyfriend.
"He really got Jisung's cheeks.
They're so cute."
"Jisung's cheeks?"
"No, Akemi's.
You dummy.."
Seungmin giggled and carefully
poked the baby's cheek, afraid
to wake him up.
"They're really the cutest
when they're asleep."
"Do you have experience
with babies?"
"Well, my sister has a child but
I didn't actually take care of
my nephew like we have to
do now with him. It was kinda..
Not my best time when
he was born."
And Hyunjin only nodded as he
reached out to take his boyfriend's
hand, squeezing it gently.
They'd manage even without
having experience of taking
care of a child.
Minho and Jisung had their own
and didn't get the chance to
practice beforehand either.
A soft whine escaped the tiny boy
between them as he moved his
little legs, scrunching his face
before he yawned cutely.
But before Akemi could get upset
about losing his pacifier, Hyunjin
placed it back between the baby's
lips and carefully picked him up.
"Hi little one.
Had a nice nap?"
He cooed when the tiny boy sniffled
softly and practically melted in his
uncle's arms but when he first
looked at Hyunjin and then at
Seungmin, the frown immediately
returned.
Followed by some whimpering
which soon turned into small cries.
"Oh sweetie. It's okay, your parents
will come back soon. But for now
you'll have a fun time with
your uncles, hm?"
The ravenette tried to soothe the
little baby, rocking him gently in
his arms as he held his head.
It was probably his instinct that
told him to stand up so he could
walk around with Akemi in his
arms and indeed the small boy
immediately became quiet.
Seungmin followed his boyfriend
closely and began to hum a
song to distract the baby.
"You're doing so good, hm?
Being away from mommy and
daddy is scary, I know.
You're such a brave boy, hm?"
Hyunjin cooed at the tiny human
in his arms when Akemi looked
up at him with big, sad eyes,
still suckling on his pacifier.
The little tantrum had been
predictable but the couple was
definitely surprised how fast the
small boy had calmed down
and accepted his fate.
"Do you want to look at uncle
Hyunjinnie's drawings?"
Akemi grunted when Seungmin
booped his nose and reached his
tiny hand out to hold his
uncle's finger.
"I think that's a yes.
We'll turn you into an art
appreciator, huh?"
Together they made their way
to Hyunjin's art room, the ravenette
still rocking the little boy in his
arms to keep him calm.
"So… Do you like flowers?
They're pretty, hm?"
But Akemi wasn't looking at the
painting at all, instead he had
found a brush in his reach on
his uncle's table and picked it up
to replace his pacifier with it.
"Oh no no, little one. It's full of
dried paint, that's not yummy."
Seungmin immediately took the
brush away from the baby but before
the small boy could get upset about it,
the brunette gently brushed the tip
of the brush over Akemi's tiny
button nose, making him squeal.
"Are you ticklish?
Is this adorable baby here
ticklish, hm?"
He smiled widely when Akemi
laughed and kicked his little legs
in excitement when Seungmin
brushed his nose again.
"You're so cute, how can you
be so small and cute? If you keep
being this adorable, I might
keep you here."
The brunette giggled at the
squealing baby in front of him and
pecked the boy's head gently.
And Hyunjin just watched with a
soft smile on his face, his heart
fluttering at the adorable scene
in front of him.
One day when they'd both be ready,
Seungmin would be a great papa.
And Hyunjin couldn't wait for
that day to come.
