020 | Masked Assassins

LEONORA AND KLAUS WERE HAPPILY ENJOYING ONE ANOTHER'S COMPANY. They were discussing the curiosities of art and Klaus trying to convince Leonora to explore the world with him.

"What about Greece?" Klaus said, following after the beauty who was walking around and admiring his works of art.

Leonora laughed. "Greece? No way, too hot."  She felt freer ever since she allowed herself a moment of feeling. However, just because she allowed herself to indulge in her happiness for once, doesn't mean she trusts them.

Klaus pulled at her waist, turning her to him. "Too hot? You're from Italy, love." He laughed at her words, playing with the tips of her hair.

She nodded, pulling away and walking out the doors of the art room with the hybrid trailing behind. "I am. Surprised you remembered."

As much as she would enjoy continuing being in his company, she needed to part ways and go see if her beliefs are true. She did not trust the Mikaelsons mother, not one bit. No one comes back from the dead without getting some sort of revenge on their murderer, no one. Which is why, she needed Klaus to be gone.

"I'll always remember what you say." He casually said, watching the way her hips swayed and her hair followed the motion.

She spun around to face the hybrid. "I've got to go do something." She didn't wait for a reply as she teleported away and into an empty hallway that she doesn't recognize, considering she hasn't been there many times.

She took off her heels, holding them in her hands and tip-toeing down the hallway when she came across a door in which she knew Esther to be in as she could feel her power. Pressing her ear against the door, she enveloped the one side in her magic and manipulated the space surrounding the  room - thus, the scent of sage had no effect on Leonora.

"They complete the Bennet Bloodline.I drew power from them and their ancestors with me on the other side"

Leonora heard what she assumed to be Esther's voice on the other side.

"You've been on the other side for a thousand years?"

At that voice, Leonora paused for a second. Elena was inside discussing with the Original Witch about something concerning the Originals.

"Nature's way of punishing me for turning my family into vampires. But there is a way for me to undo the evil I created."

Leonora's eyes widened in panic and intrigue, however was not surprised. She knew that the only way to kill an Original was either through the white oak stake or a nature's servant. Esther, is a nature's servant, hence the ability to kill the Originals.

"You're going to help us kill Klaus, aren't you?" Elena questioned.

"One thing at a time Elena. For now, I simply need your help. I understand Rebekah shared the story of my family to you and the time-traveller. How I upset the balance of nature by turning my children into vampires."

Leonora listened intently, knowing what's so come.

"You know Leonora?"  She heard Elena stupidly question.

"Unfortunately I've had the misfortune of having to watch her save my family from death, many times - an obstacle, no doubt." Leonora pressed her ear more harshly into the door, now that her name was present within the conversation, she was a target.

"Rebekah told us that you did it to protect them from the werewolves." Elena clarified.

"It's true. But in no time at all, they began to feed on human blood. They  ravaged the town with no remorse. Eventually Niklaus turned against me."

Despite hearing this from many of the Originals, Leonora still kept her place at the door.

"How are you going to kill him? He's immortal?"  Elena's innocent tone sounded out.

"It will take time, magic and your assistance. Do you have what I asked for?"

Leonora didn't see the object, however she heard the rustling of someone's movements.

"My children believe I'm holding this ball to celebrate our reunion. But in truth, I've gathered them together to perform a ritual. The first step requires blood from the doppelgänger, only a drop. It's essence will be in the champagne toast later on this evening." Leonora became more alarmed. "Will you do it?  Or shall I?"

She heard the sound of dropping liquid, signalling the doppelgängers blood. Elena had done it.

"The second step, is the item you required for me. The time-travellers blood." Leonora's eye fully went wide, questions of how her blood was acquired ran through her head. "Your blood, Elena, links them. However, Leonora's blood will erase them from time, if all else fails."

If all else fails..?

"Erase them from time? What do you mean?" She heard Elena question.

"Leonora Matisse has the ability of time and space manipulation. Considering her involvement with my families survival throughout history, all of that will be erased. Her assistance with my family, her heroism, will all be for nothing, because Leonora herself, will be erased from time."

Leonora didn't hear Elena's response, too stuck in her own thoughts of her impending death. But she heard Esther's next words.

"She is the reason for their survival, she is no better than them or I. It is also her duty to kill the Original vampires, while also destroying the reason for their present lives. She is an abomination, she goes against all that is possible. She can control time, Elena. Imagine what would happen if she decided to turn on everyone, everything. She is a danger to the world. By doing this Elena, you're saving the whole world."

Leonora couldn't believe her ears. 'Turn on everyone'? Do people really believe her to be some ticking-time bomb, possible of destroying the world?

"And what will my blood do?" Leonora didn't blame Elena for wanting her dead, she did stab her and side with the most deadly creatures on the planet after helping Elena. But to so easily believe the lies and manipulation of Esther? Leonora wanted to live in spite of her stupidity.

"Tonight's spell links all my children together, so that if one goes, they all go. I love my family Elena, but they are an abomination. I betrayed nature when I created them. It's my duty to kill them."

Leonora heard footsteps coming towards the door she was behind so she quickly erased her magic on the door and teleported away. She arrived in the art room once again, composing herself and putting on her heels, she sped walked out of the room hoping to come across an Original.

She walked into the room with a bit of panic, looking around to room frantically she looked around for her friends.

"Hey, hey. It's okay, I'm here." Hands touched her shoulders, stopping the increasing rise and fall of them. She looked to Elijah with calmed panic as she saw Elena walking towards the two.

Knowing she didn't have enough time to explain, she frantically said. "Don't drink the champagne. Doppelgänger's blood, ergo death." She left out the detail of her death, deeming it her responsibility to figure out.

Leonora didn't give Elijah any time to ponder has she had walked away just as the doppelgänger entered a close proximity. She saw Klaus talking with Mayor Lockwood and walked up beside him while linking their arms together.

Klaus looked down to Leonora at his side with adoration in his eyes, but upon seeing her alarmed eyes, he excused the two from the Mayor and dragged her to the side of the room.

"What's wrong?" He straight forwardly questioned. However, before she could get a word out, a boy held a plate full of champagne glasses towards the two.

She internally cursed Klaus out as he grabbed two and handed her one. From the side of her eye, she saw Elijah looking glancing towards her. Meeting his eye, she nodded her head to confirm his suspicions.

"Excuse me everyone. Waiters are coming around with champagne. I invite you all to join me in raising a glass." Leonora looked to Klaus with a fake smile as he snaked his arm around her waist. "It provides me with no greater joy than to see my family back together as one. I'd like to thank you all for being part of this spectacular evening."

Leonora watched as everyone surrounding her raised their glasses while saying their cheers. She watched Kol drink first, then Rebekah, Finn. Klaus took a sip before Leonora could turn to him, as she was too busy watching the more vulnerable Originals.

Klaus turned to the girl beside him who hadn't drunk her champagne and said. "Well, go on love. Drink."

Leonora, however, only continued to watch Elijah take the drink in his mouth, but she didn't see him swallow. Breathing out a breath of relief, she turned to see Esther watching her intently.

She raised her drink to her mouth and took it in her mouth, once she saw Esther's satisfied smile and turned away, she spat it back into her drink.

Klaus opened his mouth in questioning. "You're acting odd, Leonora."

Leonora turned to him after giving the champagne back to the waiter. "That's because the champagne was laced." She leant up to his ear, her lips brushing against his ear. "Your mother is trying to kill you."

She felt Klaus's hands wrap around her waist as he held her in place. "So it's true then. She never really forgave me."

Leonora placed her hands on his shoulder's, adjusting his bow-tie. "Of course she didn't. The champagne just linked you to your family, making you more easier to kill." She grabbed his hand and began to drag him towards Elijah who was also making his way towards the two.

"I didn't drink it." Elijah reassured Leonora as the three of them walked to the side of the room.

"Neither did I, but Nik did." She said, looking towards the hybrid who was frowning in anger and tensing his jaw.

"And Kol, Rebekah and Finn." Klaus muttered, still angry with his mother.

Klaus turned to the two with anger visibly in his tone. "When I see her, I'm going to cut out her tongue and make her chok-"

He was cut off by Elijah. "Niklaus. We have to play this smarter than her. Thank's to Leonora, we know what she has planned." He gestured to the time-traveller, both brothers listened to her.

"Elena's blood was laced in the champagne, linking all the Originals together making it so if one of you dies, you all do." She explained, keeping her part of death to herself. It wasn't because she didn't trust them, but because she believed that she was in no real danger. She didn't drink the champagnes, therefore she sees it as a survival.

Both the brothers looked angry, Elijah hiding it better than the hybrid. The two were about to speak when Rebekah came rushing over, making the three of them turn towards her. "Where's Kol?"

Elijah looked to Rebekah in hidden alarm. "Why? What is it Rebekah?"

Klaus and Leonora also looked to Rebekah in questioning as she answered. "I fear Kol will go against Mother's wishes."

Before any of them could resort back, they saw Stefan running towards the double doored entrance in panic. The four wasted no time in walking after him, Finn joining them in their walk.

They stepped outside to see Damon standing over Kol's temporary dead body, anger filled each of their faces.

Damon stood to face the four Originals, his brother and Leonora as he answered Stefan's earlier question. "Maybe a little."

Leonora heard heel's clicking and turned to see the doppelgänger with a disbelieved look on her face as she glared at Damon. "Far be it for me to cause a problem." Damon smirked as he stared down Elena.

Leonora had enough and teleported behind Damon, she held a hand up and his neck rotated at an awkward angle, signifying the snapping notion of the neck. She turned to Kol and enveloped his body in blue, reversing his body-clock-work to a couple of minutes ago.

She held out a hand as Kol shot up, gasping. He grasped her hand and allowed her to pull him up, the two turned to the doorways to see Elena and Stefan's disbelieved and shocked faces as they stared down at Damon's snapped neck. Whereas the Originals smiled to the two with smiles, proud glints in their eyes.

Kol looked to Stefan in anger at his brother's actions. "Might want to keep him on a tighter leash." He mocked, before taking Leonora's arm in his and walking back inside, with the rest of the Originals following in after glaring at Elena and Stefan. Leonora didn't spare the Salvatores or Gilbert a look as Kol lead the way.

As they re-entered the party, Kol turned to Leonora. "What did you do?" He questioned.

Instead of Leonora answering, Elijah did. "She reversed your body-clock-work, to a time before the snap. Evidently, bringing you back from the dead."

"You can do that?" Rebekah questioned, coming to Leonora's other side. She had both the youngest Originals on one arm as she was interrogated.

She nodded. "Done it to a werewolf bite once."

Kol turned to Klaus laughed. "You're not all that special now, brother!" Rebekah joined in on his laughing as Elijah and Leonora smiled.

Klaus put on a fake angry expression while looking away, making the four of them continue to take the piss out of him. After a couple of seconds, his anger cracked and he slightly smiled.

Leonora entered her home, holding her heels in her hands while running a hand through her hair. She threw her shoes off to the side and entered her room., no wasting any second, she walked into the bathroom and stripped herself off her dazzling dress.

After a good half an hour of lathering her body with honey soaps and lotion, she walked out of the bathroom - clothed with a hoodie and sweats.

She delicately picked up the dress and walked towards her wardrobe, hanging it up so that it won't crease. Leonora sighed deeply, thinking back to the kiss with a certain hybrid, her cheeks grew hot and the back of her neck heated up.

However, her mind was rid of the mysterious Mikaelson as she saw a box sitting on her bed. She frowned and walked over, opening it up, she prevented a smile taking over her face. A photo of the top half of her face stared back at her, her electric blue eyes showing her magic brightened the page.

She stroked the soft pencil markings as she looked towards the necklace that lay in the box. A half moon surrounded a lapis jewel hung from a silver chain. Leonora picked it up and brought it closer to her eyes, the words 'The Stars to My Moon' engraved within the half-moon.

Leonora felt a fluttery feeling within her stomach, wanting to control it, she walked towards her mirror and clipped the necklace on her chest - admiring the glints within the lapis jewel.

However, her moment of tranquility was broken as a shattering sound came from another room within her home. Leonora instantly became alarmed, all softness vanishing from her features to be replaced with tension.

Forming a spatial-ball within her hands, she held it by her side for safety as she softly stepped out of her bedroom. Feeling within her house using her abilities, she quickly became confused as she felt...nothing.

But that didn't stop her from keeping an alarmed posture. Leonora stepped into the kitchen as came across her window shattered  and a knife laying in the centre of the glass - a paper strip attached to it.

Telekinetically forcing the knife into her hands, she ripped off the slip of paper and read it.

Behind you.

Leonora whipped around and ducked as a bat swung her way. She continued to dodge her attackers swings before her head was smashed into the broken window, glass digging into her skull.

She kicked behind her and spun around, slamming her fist within her attackers neck. They backed away, allowing her to properly see who the person was.

However, not much was to see as a man who had dark brown hair covering his forehead. He had a scarf wrapped around his mouth with goggles secured around his eyes. The male had all black on, a tight, long sleeved shirt with harnesses wrapped all around his torso that had knifes adorned in them - evidently securing them in place. Leonora didn't doubt that his combat trousers had knifes hidden within them.

Leonora teleported away, getting her breath before the man came out of no-where and round-housed her in the face, making her head snap to the side and her body spin on the floor. Groaning in pain, she once again, teleported away and grabbed one of the knifes and stabbed the man in the shoulder with it.

But she backed away as the man made no movement of pain, it seemed to only annoy him further as he ripped out the knife and threw it to her. Luckily, she caught the knife mid-air with her magic and threw it to the side.

The two of them engaged in hand to hand combat, the man grabbing her hair and pulling back as Leonora kicked him in the chest, flipping mid-air and slamming the mans body down with her. She sat on his hips and began to punch at his face, holding out a hand, a vase teleported within it and she smashed it into the side of his head.

But, once, again, the masked attacker made no movement of pain. Instead, he bucked his hips and Leonora was thrown forward and across the room.  As soon as she landed, her arm was grabbed and twisted, enticing a scream from her, before she was head butted in the nose.

She twisted her arm around, returning it to normal positioning and kicked the attacker in the chest, he flew back into the wall, a painting falling on his head.

Leonora enveloped him in blue and begun to add tension within her magic, adding pain within the grasps. However, her hand began to shake as she felt a force attacking her back.

Too focused on the shaking of her figure, she didn't notice the masked assassin picking up the canvas and throwing it her way. She was hit in the stomach with the painting, aiding in her distraction and releasing a hold on the male.

The attacker stormed towards her and Leonora was kicked within the chest and backhanded, her body spinning around to the floor. But she caught herself and forward rolled into a crouching position while eyeing her attacker down.

She threw up a leg and kicked him within the ribs, blocking a punch the male sent. However, she received an uppercut, to the jaw. The blood dripping from her nose adding to the bust on her lip.

Leonora had no time to recover as the attacker jumped, spinning mid air and striking a kick to her chest. She flew back into a table, her back throbbing in pain upon the impact.

She gasped, lost of breath and decreasing blood. Leonora looked up, awaiting another attack from the mysterious man but saw no one except an open window. The cold air breezing on her face and temporarily numbing the pain.

Leonora stayed on her knees, panting in pain and loss of breath. Her blood dripping on the ground, she made no move to get up.

After 10 minutes, she attempted to get to her feet, staggering side to side. Leonora put a palm to nearby objects and used them for support. But as her steps increased, her sights decreased, the fading of black continuing it's attack on her eyeballs.

Leonora fell, face down into the ground, smashing her head against the wood and succumbing to the darkness. Staying the rest of the night, passed out in a puddle of her own blood.
