CLEMENTINE KATZ has always been a bit of a loner, preferring to keep to herself. However, she has one special person in her life who she considers her best friend: Alison Cahn. It's quite peculiar because Clementine is incredibly extroverted, while Alison is more introverted. Despite their contrasting personalities, they have an undeniable bond that brings them together.
Their friendship began when they were just seven years old. During recess, Clementine decided to take matters into her own hands and organized a protest to extend recess by an extra ten minutes. With her passionate spirit, she stood up for what she believed in and surprisingly won the protest. It was during this protest that Clementine noticed Alison, all alone and seemingly detached from the rest of the kids.
Without hesitation, Clementine approached Alison and invited her to join the protest. It was an unexpected gesture, but it turned out to be the catalyst for their friendship. From that moment on, Clementine and Alison became inseparable. Their personalities may clash at times, but they complement each other in a unique way.
Clementine and Alison had a beautiful tradition of celebrating each other's holidays. Even though Clementine was Jewish, she always attended Alison's family Christmas dinner. In return, Alison embraced the Hanukkah celebrations with Clementine. While the Katz family wasn't overly religious, they did observe important Jewish traditions like Hanukkah, Passover, and the Bat/Bar Mitzvah.
After her impressive Bat Mitzvah, Clementine decided to part ways with Hebrew school. It simply didn't resonate with her anymore. Luckily, her dad and brother were supportive of her decision. On the other hand, Spencer continued attending Hebrew school throughout middle school.
Clementine is a dry and sarcastic sense of humor that catches people off guard. She has a quick wit and a knack for clever comebacks. While initially reserved, she gradually doesn't really open up to her close friends, not revealing her true self.
Opening up to Alison can be challenging for Clementine, but Alison has a special intuition when something is bothering her. It may take some time, but eventually, Clementine finds the courage to share her feelings. One topic that Clementine finds particularly difficult to discuss is her mother's passing. She was only five years old when her mother tragically passed away from an unknown illness. The suddenness and heartbreaking nature of her mother's death still leave a lasting impact.
Spencer, who was ten years old at the time, had to put on a brave face for his little sister, Clementine. He didn't want to let his emotions show in front of her, so he held back his tears. The Katz siblings' dad served as a military nurse, which meant they were constantly on the move. However, when Clementine was seven and Spencer was twelve, they settled down in Florida for a while. It was a much-needed period of stability in their lives, allowing them to create lasting memories in the sunny state.
Until 2018, their dad received orders to relocate to a different base in sunny California for training purposes. This meant that Clementine had to bid a bittersweet goodbye to her beloved best friend. However, fear not, for the Katz girl possesses a fiercely loyal nature. She is determined to stay connected with Alison, ensuring that their friendship remains strong despite the physical distance. Clementine diligently keeps Alison updated on all the latest happenings, bridging the gap with their unwavering bond.
Clementine and Spencer found themselves a cozy new abode in the vibrant neighborhood of Encino, where their Aunt Anastasia resided. Despite their dad being stationed in Northern California, he wanted them to be near their beloved Auntie Ana, who had achieved great success with her flourishing brewery business. Living with Auntie Ana meant that they were able to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle, surrounded by the fruits of her hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. The siblings were grateful for their aunt's support and the opportunities her success provided.
She's a fierce advocate for her convictions, never hesitating to step outside her comfort zone. Against her initial reluctance, her brother convinced her to join him at Valley Fest. As she watched Miyagi-Do's mesmerizing performance, a certain boy on stage piqued her curiosity. Enthralled by his talent, she couldn't help but shower him with genuine compliments.
