I stared at the long pages beneath me. The Book of Potions was laying open on my desk as I stared mindlessly down on its crowded words. I hadn't been listening to Snape for the past 10 minutes now and he hadn't even noticed.

I looked up, my eyes meeting Pansy's. She smiled and came towards me. "Are you ready?" she asked, taking a halt next to me. "For what?" I raised my eyebrow at her. "Snape just told us to start the recipe?" she laughed, narrowed her eyes and started gathering the things we needed. "Have you not been listening at all?"

I shrugged, hopping off my chair to stand next to her. I scanned the pages. We were making Felix Felicis, better knows as liquid luck. "Care if I join you?" someone asked. My head shot up and my eyes met Lorenzo's. His brown eyes looked patiently into mine.

"Uh- no. No not at all," I stammered, having been taken slightly aback from his sudden appearance. He smiled and got into position next to me.

I had to take a deep breath in order to calm myself. Lorenzo and I had been friends for as long as I can remember. We met at the sorting ceremony on our first day and have been pretty much inseparable ever since. I consider him my best friend and he does me, but as of recently, something has changed between us.

I didn't always get nervous around him, or hold my breath when I looked in his direction. But now it is almost as if everything he does sets something off in me. Every little smile, or every word he speaks makes my head spin and my stomach twist.

Lorenzo reached for one of the bottles at the same time as me, and our fingers brushed. "Sorry," I mumbled, quickly pulling my hand away. I heard him chuckle but he didn't say anything.

I ran a hand through my brown hair, sighing quietly.

Pansy started reading the recipe to us, and we slowly got to work. "So are you looking forward to tonight?" she asked, trying to spike conversation between us.

"Very," Lorenzo replied, slowly pouring one of the ingredients into the main pot. He stuck his tongue out between his lips as he focused his eyes on pouring the exact amount.

I sighed. "As ready as one can be, I suppose."

I heard laughter to my right. "Are you coming to the party?" the source of the laugh asked, playfully hitting one of his friends on their shoulder.

I rolled my eyes. "Wouldn't miss it," I scoffed, glaring at him.

It was Mattheo Riddle, the devil himself.

"I thought you were more into sitting at the library by yourself on Friday nights?" he smirked and looked at Draco Malfoy who was smiling widely to his left.

I sighed and shook my head at him. His stupid comments didn't face me anymore, considering they'd been going on for years by now. "And how exactly would you know that?" I asked and crooked my head to the side. "Have you been stalking me, Riddle?"

Mattheo raised his eyebrows at this and his mouth fell slightly open. He gathered himself. "As if I would spend my precious time on such things." The smirk from earlier reappeared.

I rolled my eyes, glancing at Pansy who found the situation rather amusing.

"Bugger off Riddle. Shouldn't you be at least trying to make this potion to get your scores above zero?" Lorenzo chimed in. Mattheo looked at him immediately, the dumb smirk on his face fading.

"Piss off Berkshire," Mattheo spat and crossed his arms. He turned back to Draco and eventually started doing the task at hand.

I sighed loudly. "Thanks Enzo," I said quietly, glancing at him.

"Anytime."

"You should tell him tonight," Pansy said, brushing a hand through her dark hair. She looked at herself in the mirror, doing her finishing touches.

I chuckled nervously. "No thanks." I pulled my shirt over my head. It was black with long sleeves. "Come on." Pansy turned around on her chair to face me. "I'm sick of you whining about him all the time. It's time to take matters into your own hands."

I looked at her, scrunching my nose. "I already told you that it's not going to happen," I replied with a sigh. I walked towards her, leaning down to look at myself in the mirror. She turned around on her chair again, facing the mirror with me. Her eyes flickered between herself and I. "I don't get why you're so afraid," she sighed, looking at my reflection, "he won't hurt you."

I ran a hand through my hair. "And if he doesn't feel the same?" I turned to face her, looking down on her as she sat on her chair. "Then we'll forget about it," she replied in a low voice, "and pretend it never happened." I shook my head at her, trying to hide the stupid smile on my face.

She reached for my hands, caressing the back with her thumbs. "I don't think I could still be friends with him," I answered, my eyes flicking from her eyes to her hands holding mine, "not if he doesn't feel the same."

"You'll never know if you don't even try," she replied.

The world was blurry as I fell down onto the couch beneath me. My head was spinning and I could barely make out the words he spoke. His voice was loud and he crouched down in front of me, a hand on my shoulder to try and get my attention.

The voice stopped and suddenly a cup appeared in front of my face. I grabbed it without a second thought, putting it to my mouth and chugging it.

A few minutes passed and I started feeling a bit better. I sat up, running both of my hands through my hair. It was damp and sticky, making me groan.

"Are you alright?" he looked at me with skeptical eyes. I tried to focus my eyes on his face. It was Mattheo. I clenched my jaw.

"Better now. Thanks," I said in an emotionless voice, nodding towards the now empty cup of water on the table in front of me.

Mattheo sighed, backing away from me. "You have been drinking quite a lot." He didn't even look at me, he just stared at the massive crowd in the middle of the room. They were dancing and singing.

"Oh really? I couldn't tell," I scoffed, looking down at my clothes. I had at least three different kinds of liquor spilled on my shirt and my shoes stuck to the ground whenever I tried to move my feet. I could only Imagine the state that my face was in. Mattheo turned his head back towards me. "Excuse me if I'm being too forward here, but does this rampage of yours, have anything to do with him?" His eyes glided back towards the crowd. I followed his line of vision with my own. My eyes landed on him.

He was still dancing with her. I bit down on my lower lip, clenching my jaw again. I felt the jealously from earlier return. Tonight was supposed to be the night I told him how I felt, but instead, he'd spent all night with her.

I hadn't been planning on getting this drunk, but I couldn't contain myself as she continued to stay glued to his side. He looked so happy and relaxed. Pansy had tried to talk me out of it. "It doesn't mean anything." She'd said, handing me a new variant of alcohol.

I gulped, my eyes staying firmly on the girl's back. How was I supposed to pretend like nothing was wrong when he looked so happy. He was smiling at her, not even noticing that I was staring at him from across the room.

His brown hair was messed up from him continuously running his hands through it, and his white button up had more buttons undone than earlier tonight. He bit down on his lower lip as he smiled, showing off his dimples.

Mattheo turned back to look at me. I'm sure he could tell immediately that his guess was right. "So it's true then," he said slowly, carefully making his way towards the couch I was seated on, "infamous Scarlett Davis does indeed fancy Lorenzo Berkshire."

He flopped down next to me. I felt the heat rush to my cheeks. "Lucky me," I scoffed, "too bad the whole school does as well." I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms as I leant back, finally taking my eyes off Lorenzo.

I wasn't exactly lying. Basically every girl at school either had, or has had, a crush on Enzo. Maybe it was because of his kindness towards others, or maybe he was simply that likable.

Mattheo laughed, shaking his head. "Aren't you his best friend?" He patted my shoulder in a teasing gesture. I turned my head to glare at him. "That is exactly what I am." I turned my head away again. "His friend."

He continued chuckling. "Don't be so harsh on yourself. I'm sure you could get his attention if you wanted to."

I narrowed my eyes, my nose scrunching by the thought of Mattheo trying to give me relationship advice. "Yeah right," I growled, folding my arms. My voice was laced with sarcasm. I sighed loudly. "It doesn't matter anyway."

I stood up, glancing back at Mattheo who was looking at me in amusement.

I walked off, trying to find Pansy somewhere in the crowd.

A/N
I don't really like how this turned out, but I wanted to get a few things across as fast as possible and I think I managed that.
Anyways, I said I'd post the first two so I have done exactly that.
Hope you enjoy :)
