𝘈𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘥𝘦'𝘴 𝘗𝘖𝘝
"Portis. Come on. Portis, wake up. Wake up!" Kiara pleads as we manage to peel him out of his seat, almost drowning ourselves in the process.
"We gotta get to the beach" I tell the girl as she passes me Jimmy's body through the window before swimming out herself to help me hold the weight up.
"I got you" She nods.
Kiara and I swim towards the beach, struggling to drag Jimmy's limp body with us the whole way. The second that the three of us reach the sand, people come running towards us.
"Take him" Kiara huffs as Jimmy coughs and splutters, people dragging him further onto land.
"You okay?" The people ask us and I nod, waving them away.
"Thank you" Jimmy says to Kiara and I.
"You lied to us" Kiara sneers in anger "Who are you?"
I drag myself onto my feet and groan at how waterlogged I feel, just wanting to sleep this horrible day away,
"Oh God" Jimmy groans and I see the guards racing towards us "You should get out of here"
"Shit" Kiara curses, scrambling to her feet and tugging me with her.
"Give me a fucking break, man" I cry out in irritation.
Kiara and I race up the beach, through crowds of running people and towels being thrown about. The two of us manage to hide between two old rotting boats but neither of us can find a way out of this situation, we're cornered with nowhere to run.
"Get out of the way! Come on up" The men yell at people "Policemen. Search all over the area"
I hold my breath in sheer anticipation and we are able to stay hidden for what only feels like minutes before a man sticks his face into our hide out, Kiara immediately kicking the man in the face.
"They're over here!" The man grunts in pain, pulling himself up as we scramble out of our hiding place.
The man grabs Kiara and before I can help her another one races around, sweeping me right off of my feet.
"Let go of me!" I demand in anger.
"Get off!" Kiara snaps.
"Get a hold of them" A third guard orders.
"Let us go!" Kiara kicks and screams as we're dragged over to a large truck.
Kiara and I are handcuffed and placed in the back of the black pick up truck, my heart racing in anxiety.
"We lost the others. We'll keep searching" I hear over the radio and I feel so much relief.
Jimmy Portis shakily walks up to us and I glare at the man as though he himself is the reason for every problem I've ever had in the last nineteen years of my life.
"We saved your life" Kiara spits out.
"I know. I know. I'm sorry. I gonna try to help you, okay?" Jimmy tries to assure us "I swear, I didn't know it was gonna be like this. Look, if you don't fight, if you just do what they say, these guys prob... probably won't hurt you"
"What did Ward promise you?" Kiara demands to know.
"Who?" Jimmy frowns in genuine confusion.
"Was it Rafe?" I blurt out.
"I don't know who they are. Hey, just take my advice, do what they say. Good luck" Jimmy tells us.
"All right, let's go" The guard who grabbed me jumps into the back with us.
The truck starts moving and I feel so incredibly sick that I lay down, putting my head on Kiara's lap. Kiara keeps looking around, gently playing with my hair to keep her grounded and I focus on my breathing so I don't throw up.
The truck speeds through the streets of Barbados and never once stops until we reach a check point, dogs barking cause me to sit up in surprise.
"Oh, they are so cute" I breathe out before looking up at the guard holding the leash "Can I pet them?"
Before the man can reply, I lean over the edge of the truck and start scratching behind the dog's ear. The canine makes a happy little whiney sound as their tail wags happily and they allow me to stroke down their back until I'm yanked back by the other guard in the truck bed.
"That could have bitten your hand off" Kiara looks at me in disbelief as the truck starts to move again.
"They smell fear, Kie" I hum with a little smile and she rolls her eyes at me.
The truck eventually comes to a final stop outside a large mansion of a house and I can't tear my eyes away from it in awe as I'm tugged out of the vehicle.
"What is this place? The fucking White House?" I comment, looking around at all the security guards as we're dragged towards the door.
The front door is opened to reveal a tired looking little maid and I almost feel sorry for her until she sneers at us both in disgust.
"All right sorry for the muck but no one told us we were having tea with the fucking president, okay?" I snap at the woman who merely turns, expecting us to follow her and we do.
The house looks even more grand inside than it does on the outside, filled to the brim with artefacts and old shit like a museum.
"Take them upstairs. The Orinoco Room" The maid tells the guards.
"This way" One of the guards grabs Kiara as another one grabs me, pushing us both up the stairs "Up"
"Inside" The guard demands as the other pushes us both inside a room.
"Why are we here? Who are you working for?" Kiara starts asking.
"They're not gonna answer you, Kie" I tell her.
"Dinner at eight. I'd clean up" Guard number one tells us, proving my point right and I flip him my middle finger.
"Just tell me what they want!" Kiara pleads but the door is slammed in her face.
The door is locked shut on us and I don't bother with the dramatic trying of the handle that Kiara tries, letting her do it for me.
I flop onto the bed and groan at how cloud like it feels underneath my tired body. My eyes fall shut and I try my hardest not to fall asleep as Kiara snoops the room around me.
"Ads?" Kiara speaks up, bringing me out of my comfort.
"Yes, my love?" I hum, pulling myself up.
I notice she's stood in front of a wardrobe that is now open and railing is filled with two different colours of dresses, one red and the other green. There is a note to go with the dresses that reads 'pick your size'.
"Oh, the green is definitely mine. It makes my eyes pop" I point out thoughtfully and Kiara spins to look at me in disbelief.
"Are you insane?" She asks me.
"Possibly. But also just very desensitised to this fucking kidnapping nonsense" I explain simply "I mean have you met my boyfriend?"
"Do you mean your ex?" Kiara corrects but she does so in a very quiet way, not in Kiara fashion at all and I can tell she feels sorry for me which causes me to paste on a smile to avoid the pity.
"Yeah, I guess you're right" I agree.
