"One-niner-four-six. This is tower operator on the mainland. Vector 705. Maintain altitude through 1K" The operator drones on and on from Jimmy's headset.
"Wahoo don't run in September" JJ starts cautiously, making sure that Jimmy can hear humbug we all do "Ever. All right? So whoever this man is, he's not a fisherman"
"Maybe the run just starts earlier out here" Pope tries to give the man the benefit of the doubt.
"Are you sure about that? In the Caribbean?" JJ scoffs at his boyfriend.
"No, I know what this is" Sarah speaks up "He's working for my dad, and he's probably been looking for us the entire time"
"All right, we gotta find out" JJ nods "Start looking for some sort of...clues"
"Hey, Jimmy!" John B yells so the pilot can hear him over the headset.
"Yeah. What's up?" Jimmy replies cheerily.
"How long you had this bird?" John B questions, trying to distract the man so that JJ can snoop around.
"Oh, about ten years now" Jimmy answers simply.
"How long you been flying?" John B then asks as JJ starts looking through the pilot's bag.
"I've been flying all my life" Jimmy shrugs as if it's not much.
"Uh, who's that lovely lady right there?" John B points at a photograph of a good looking woman that is taped to the window.
"That right there? That's Cynthia" Jimmy chuckles and I decide that I don't like the guy.
"Cynthia?" John B hums thoughtfully "And what about that beautiful girl right there?"
"Huh? Oh, that? That's Stacey" Jimmy responds as JJ pulls a book out the bag named 'the loss of el dorado' and inside the book is a bookmark that I pick up while the others keep looking.
"Oh! Oh, your sister?" John B chuckles away and I look down at the picture.
"No, no. No, she's just this girl I met in Saint Lucia. You ever been there?" Jimmy laughs and my spine goes cold.
"The Coastal Venture. Oh my God" Sarah breathes out, taking the picture from me.
"Huge marlin. You gotta go" Jimmy continues to tell John B.
"This is the boat we were on. With Eberhimi and the cross" Sarah tells the others.
"So he was looking for us?" Cleo confirms.
"Exactly" JJ nods.
"He's working for my dad" Sarah declares.
"Or for your brother" I suggest the possibility and she frowns with a short nod of her head.
"Hey, y'all better hold something. We got some unexpected turbulence up here" Jimmy warns us.
"Guys, whatever it is, it's happening fast. Look" Kiara tells us, causing us all to look out the window.
"That looks like Barbados. I've been there with Terrance" Cleo informs.
"Okay, there's seven of us, one of him" JJ states as if its obvious "You know my vote. We storm the cockpit"
"JJ, we are likely more than thirty five thousand feet in the air, you idiot" I snap at him.
"No, who's gonna fly the plane, dumbass?" John B agrees with me.
"I've seen Pope fly simulators" JJ defends his stupid idea, looking at his boyfriend.
"I crop-dusted for my uncle last summer. This is not the same thing" Pope argues.
"We don't have time to pretend that's a real option" Kiara butts in.
"Do you have an idea?" JJ quips.
"Something safe" She pleads.
"Why don't we just wait until the plane lands somewhere safe, and then we sneak out. And if somebody comes to mess with us, we mad-dog them" Pope proposes the idea and we all seem to come to an agreement.
"Okay" Kiara and Cleo agree in unison.
"I like the mad-dogging part" JJ comments.
"Just put that back" Kiara pushes the items from the bag to JJ "Put it back. Be cool"
JJ starts putting things back into the bag as John B starts to distract again.
"Hey, Jimmy. Is that Burning Man? Right there?" John B asks curiously, pointing to another picture.
"Yeah! That's Burning Man, all right. That was my first time" Jimmy laughs nostalgically.
"So how many times you been to Burning Man then?" I speak up, leaning over my brother to conceal his fumbling ass.
"I started going when I was 18" Jimmy tells me, his eyes flitting down to my exposed cleavage and I hold back an eye roll of annoyance "GT's, baby! GT's!"
"Yeah, I've heard a lot about it. I've never been west" John B replies.
"We've never really been anywhere" I correct him.
Before Jimmy can reply to me, the plane jerks to the side and I shriek, falling backwards into the girls. Pope manages to grab my head to stop it from hitting the floor but JJ is now openly shoving shit back into the bag and Jimmy spots him almost immediately.
"Hey, man! What the hell are you doing?" Jimmy roars in anger, pushing JJ and my brother tumbles onto me, making me groan in pain "That's mine!"
"Who are you really?" JJ fires back.
"Fly the plane!" Sarah cries out as the plane starts falling from the sky.
"It's my book. Give it back" Jimmy yells.
"Please fly the plane. Please fly the plane" Pope rambles out with his eyes closed tightly in panic.
"Fly the goddamn plane, man!" I shout, pushing JJ off me.
"Come on, Fish. Come on, Fish. Come on" Jimmy groans, trying to get a hold of the controls now as we plummet towards the water.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa" JJ knocks into me and I grab a hold of him, holding on for dear life.
"Beneath!" Kiara orders as we head for a bridge.
The plane smashes into the water and we all go sprawling forward, the metal vehicle now almost full of with water. I cough up a mouthful of water and immediately start searching for my brother.
"Guys. Guys" Kiara croaks out.
"Is everybody good?" Pope asks but no one really replies "JJ! Wake up, man. We gotta get out. We gotta get out of here"
"We gotta get out before it sinks" JJ agrees, pulling his eyes open and relief sets in when I see that he's okay.
John B kicks the side door open and it reveals a handful of armed men that look a lot like police or guards.
"Oh no. They don't look friendly" John B comments.
"No, they look very unfriendly" Pope agrees.
"We gotta go. Come on" John B rushes us, pushing Cleo and Sarah out into the water.
"We gotta go. Come on, hurry" Pope worries.
"We gotta get out" JJ repeats anxiously "We gotta go now, come on"
"Go, Pope" John B urges the Heyward boy to follow the girls before JJ follows too.
"Kie, Addy, let's go" John B warns us.
"I'm coming. Go!" Kiara assures us both but it doesn't sit right with me.
"Addy, Kie, get out before it sinks!" JJ shouts as John B jumps into the water "Come on. Go!"
"They're headed this way. Hurry!" Pope shouts.
"Kie, come on. I'm not leaving without you" I tell the Carrera girl and she nods.
"Hang on!" She calls out to the others and tugs me towards the cockpit.
"No, no, no, Kie! Addy, come on!" John B argues but we don't listen.
"Come over here. Get to the pier!" I hear JJ telling the others as Kiara starts trying to pull Jimmy out of his seat with my help.
"Adelaide, Kiara, come on. You gotta hurry!" Sarah pleads.
