It's the weekend and I'm setting the table for nick and his mum to come over for dinner
Mum is an excited kind of nervous that I always associate with her meeting someone important, but I think she just wants to make as good of an impression on Nick as Sarah has on me
I put on the black dress from the night of the party and take note of the fact that I don't feel nearly as insecure wearing it as I did that night
There's a knock on the door, Desmond's ears perk up curiously
Y/N: I'll get it!
I open the door to reveal nick and Sarah's warm smiles
Nicks mum: Hi y/n love, how are you?
Y/N: Im great thanks Sarah, how are you?
While she responds I usher them inside, giving Nick a smile as I do
Nicks mum: I brought crumble for desert, where's your mum I need to give it to her
Y/N: mums just through there in the kitchen
Nicks mum: thanks sweetheart
Me and nick watch as she enters the kitchen, crumble in a glass dish in her hands. We hear the chatting begin between the two mums and finally
Turn to eachother
Nick: Hi Love
Y/N: Hi nick
I smile at him as he puts his hands around my waist and kisses me
Nick: you look lovely
Y/N: thank you
I take in nicks outfit, jeans with a smart polo on top, he looks amazing
Y/N: you look perfect
Nick: why thank you darling
I have no idea if he meant that in a jokey way, whether he did or didn't, it gave me hella butterflies.
Angie: dinners ready guys!
Y/N: alright!
Nick: thanks Mrs y/l/n!
Angie: call me Angie!!!!
Nick: okok sorry
We all sit down for dinner (spaghetti carbonara) I sit next to nick and opposite Sarah, mum sits opposite Nick next to Sarah.
Nicks mum: so guys, we were thinking about the puppies andddd
Angie: we're gonna keep may!
Y/N: oh my god really mum?!
My favourite puppy, and I get to keep her?!
Angie: really y/n! We're keeping May
Nicks mum: and obviously we'll be keeping Rocket
Nick: awww they can have play dates
Nicks mum: and I can't confirm this yet but I think someone in your years going to be getting Minnie, although she will be renamed, something about a family pet who had the same name... passed away recently I believe
Nick: oh. Well at least she'll be staying close to home
Nicks mum: I think they all will
The rest of dinner goes by in easy conversation about puppies and school, and after a while me and nick asked to be excused.
