Chapter 4

THURSDAY
ME AND BELLA STOOD OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING early as we waited for school to start. Bella had her headphones in as she leaned against the truck whilst I fully sat on it, the heavy metal supporting my weight easily as I read
Bella had a determined look on her face as she thought about the scolding she would do to Caleb for his reaction to her on tuesday and I decided I wouldn't say anything to mess with her determination
Though Caleb didn't show up yesterday and Bella hated that. So she figured she'll tell him today
I looked up at the sound of a truck pulling up and I looked to see one pulled up with another car behind. They both parked and the Cullens filed out of them
But there was someone missing. Caleb wasn't there and by the the look on Bella's face she was dissapointed once again
I glanced back over to the Cullens, seeing a certain one looking my way. A smile formed on my face at the sight of Edward and he let his own one slip as he raised his hand
I held mine up to my shoulder too and waved at him before he turned around
"Bella, Athena" we both looked to the side to see Tyler ushering us both over but we both just raised our books

When I got to art I was given a sheet of paper no one else had got and before the lesson started Miss Calvin walked over to my desk
"This wasn't said last lesson but throughout the years we've been going through projects. Were currently on the third one and at the end of the year everyone is graded for it. I would like you to make your way through them but if it's not done you won't be marked down, if you do however you will be marked up" I nodded as the woman spoke and took the sheet out of her hands and read it through
"Okay. Thank you" she nodded
"If you need any help, i'm here. You can also use this room in free periods or lunchtime and even for an hour after school ends. I'm not usually here but the room can be in use" she walked off and it was just then Alice walked over
"I heard you met my brother yesterday" Alice spoke as I pulled up giant canvas. I was going to start from the beggining which was to draw something that makes you feel happy
I already knew what I was going to draw
"I did. He's really nice"
"He is" Alice hummed
"Which is why you should sit with us at lunch today" she said and I took out my pencil. I was going to sletch my drawing first
"I don't know" I mumbled. After what happened Tuesday in the cafeteria I don't think itll be a good idea to sit with anyone. I think I should just sit on my own like I ended up doing yesterday
"I was actually thinking of continuing the drawing at lunchtime" she frowned at my answer
"I'm sorry Alice"
"It's alright" she smiled
"I had a feeling you would say that. But i'm gonna ask everyday until you agree" I let off a laugh and nodded
"Okay Alice"
"But I atleast get your number right?" I nodded and pulled out my phone before handing it to her and she put her number inside before handing it to me
"I'll give your number to rosalie too, if that's alright?"
"Yeah that's fine"

Once art and economics had ended i made my way over to the art room and sat down once I said hello to Miss Calvin. She walked over to my desk and took a look at my drawing
"It's a start" she said
"It seems really advanced already. Do you draw a lot?" She asked and I shrugged
"It's a hobbie"
"Well I can already tell it's going to be amazing. Keep at it" she walked off and out the door and I continued my drawing

About 10 minutes later I started to regret missing lunch as I started to get a bit hungry but I ignored it as I continued
I didn't want to sit with the Cullens in case I had an episode. Seeing how Angela and jess reacted made me realise that
"Well look who missed lunch" I looked up as Edward stalked into the room. He walked past the desks and made his way into the seat beside me
"Ooh, are you drawing me?" He asked and I shook my head
"That wouldn't work. I'm not supposed to be drawing about something that would put me in a bad mood" I watched as Edward's smile fell into a fake monotone one before he started laughing
"Wow, and here I am making sure you don't starve" he placed a sandwich on the table in front of me and I smiled thankfully at him. I opened the packet and took a bite of the sanwich with my hand, still using the left to draw
"You're a natural" he said as he watched me
"It easy when you love to do it. It's a hobby of mine. What are some of yours?"
"My hobbies? I don't know really" I turned to face him with furrowed eyebrows
"Come on, you have to like something"
"I play piano" he said and I smiled
"That's amazing. I have no coordination for that. Bummer really, you're in my art class right? Can you draw?"
"No" he laughed
"I just needed this lesson cause I couldn't get a free period"
"I don't believe that. You can't be that bad at drawing"
"I would show you but I have to keep my masculinity by making you think i'm a decent drawer"
"Come on" I laughed but he just shook his head
"Fine" I huffed jokingly
"When my drawing is done, you won't see it" I sung playfully
"That's not fair" I shrugged my shoulders
"You'll see in at least 2 weeks when it's done" there was a comfortable silence, the only sound being the pencil against the canvas i'm drawing
"Thank you for bringing me something by the way. I hope you didn't rush eating so you could give it to me"
"I'm a fast eater" He replied leaning his elbow against the table
"And when Alice said you was here I figured I might as well"
"Thank you anyways"
"Are you coming here tomorrow too, or are you going to take Alice's offer?" I stopped drawing for a moment there
Alice's offer?
Does that mean Edward doesn't want me there?
"I want you there too" Edward snapped and my head snapped to him. It was almost like he could read my mind
I looked down
"It's not a good idea" I murmered
"Why not?"
"I- it's not. I can't really explain it"
"I can try understand" I opened my mouth to explain before I remembered Bella's words. I didn't want them to think I was a freak and it won't take long before the voices come back whilst i'm around them. Plus I want to keep these friends. I don't want to ruin it
I selfishly want to keep them around for as long as possible
"Edward-" I whispered
"I get it. You don't have to but you always have a spot with us"
"Thank you" the bell rang and I stood up, putting my canvas in the back of the room. I walked back over and made my way to the door
"Athena" I turned back to see Edward still at my table
"Yeah?"
"Alice and rosalie get your number but I don't?" A small smile spread across my face and I could feel my cheeks quickly heat up
I walked over to him and he handed me his phone. I unlocked it and started putting my number in
"I'll message you later" he spoke, his lips brushing my ear as he spoke that made me stop and once i realised I blinked a few times trying to get out of my daze
"Okay" I muttered. I handed him back his phone and made my way out of the room, letting out a breath when i'm finally outside

Me and dad were sitting in the hospital waiting room as we were waiting for our appointment. He had picked me up from school and we both made our way here
"Miss swan?" We both looked up to see a doctor there. He was a Cullen, I realised, just by the eye colour, though it's not genetic. He must be their foster dad
"That's us" my dad said putting his hand on my shoulder and the doctor lead us inside
"I'm doctor cullen. Its nice to see a new face around here" he sent me a small welcoming smile i couldn't help but return
"Well i'm just going to do some routine check, heart rate, blood pressure, the usual" I nodded and he took out some of his tools. He put a rubber band over my arm and inflated it
The checkups were almost normal for me now so I just let him do what's needed
"Your dad tells me you're getting your episodes again" he said and I nodded
"Care to tell me more?"
"It started again a few months ago, it started once a week, and now it's almost every day"
"Well it's not uncommon the body comes slightly immune to medication. But i dont know whether we should put her on a higher dose" he said turning to dad
"Please" I whispered and both their heads snapped to me. I don't think either of them expected me to speak up since Dr Cullen was actually talking to dad when he spoke
"I don't want to hear the voices.
Please Dr Cullen. I don't want to be a freak"
"You are not a freak" dad said walking over and placing his hands on my shoulders
"But I am dad. I saw how them girls looked at me the other day when I had an episode. I hate it. Dad please" my dad looked up to doctor Cullen who was now taking some blood from my arm
"What do you think?"
"I think she's still a bit young for the type of medicine. But it is legal and it may benefit her" there was a moment of silce before they both agreed and I exhaled
"Thank you"
"Your prescription will be able to pick up once your old one finishes, so bit less than 2 weeks from now" me and dad both stood up
"Thank you doctor Cullen" I said and he nodded
"It's my pleasure Miss swan"
