"I know how many kisses can fit between his shoulders, I know in how many spoons he can finish a bowl of warm soup, I know how many seconds it takes for him to gulp down a beer can, P', I know how much cloth he needs for his shirts, I know how tall he can reach on his toes, I know how he sounds when he is tired, I know what his different kinds of silences mean, I know how he laughs when he is hurting, I know how his eyes tear up when he can't control his love, how his neck turns red when he can't control his lust, I know how he stands, how he sits, how he walks, how he talks, how he breaths, how he fucks in all the moods, P', I know how wide he smiles when he is in joy and How narrow he smiles when he is faking it, Just like now..." Kao slowly murmured beside P'Ram as he kept twirling the wine glass in his hand... "And he thinks I can cheat on him, huh..." He let out a sarcastic smile, His eyes still on Pete who was greeting everyone the same even after the award ceremony had been over.
"Kao, You sound worse right now, What did you guys even talk about in the afternoon? I thought you were going home with him tonight" P'Mish who was sitting beside P'Ram asked concerned
" I am P', I am indeed going home with him tonight, Good thing he said he is okay with it, Otherwise I was planning on camping outside my own home" Kao chuckled again... "I really wish I could get drunk right now, Or else do you know anyone who sells that drug they gave me that night P'Ram?"
P'Ram sighed and looked at P'Mish who seemed concerned
"Kao, You really are not making any sense, Is that drug still messing with you? , I don't think you are thinking straight anymore, Why aren't you excited about going home with Pete?" P'Mish asked again
" P' He said he wants me to go home only because he needs time to get over me, Not because he believes me. He is still doubting himself for everything and I... I am not sure how i am going to convince him otherwise now... He is in even worse shape than i thought he would be" Kao made a lost face
P'Mish and P'Ram once again looked at each other not knowing how to encourage Kao.
Pete who was greeting the guests walked over to them just then.
" Shouldn't we head out now?" He asked the low spirited trio with a smile
"Look at him smiling P', It's not even reaching his eyes, Who does he think he is fooling?" Kao asked looking straight at Pete
Pete looked away as if he is not the subject of that conversation.
Feeling uncomfortable with the awkwardness P'Ram sat up straight... " Should we go grab something to eat?"
" Ya, We want to treat you for winning the award, You worked really hard for it after all" P'Mish added
"Mish why are you trying to be a human now, You know it was a piece of cake for us " Pete scoffed
" Still, you won the award and we wanna celebrate, Let's go" P'Mish urged holding Pete's hand
" No, I am not hungry" Pete refused... " Let's head home" He looked at Kao, hinting
"How are you not hungry even after not eating for a week?" P'Ram growled... " You are not going home unless you eat everything I order for you guys tonight" Declaring, P'Ram headed to parking and P'Mish held Pete and Kao's hands each side and dragged them with her
" P' I am tired, I just wanna go home and rest" Pete complained on the way to the restaurant
"Shut up Pete, just because we are going according to you doesn't mean you always get your way" P'Ram sounded angry for the first time since Kao knew him... " You are not being rational and it's time to stop your shenanigans, How long are you planning to behave like this? You know Kao is not even at fault"
"And I never said he is, I know it's me, It's my insecurities, my under confidence, which is why I don't want anyone to deal it with me, just leave me alone" Pete sounded angrier
Kao immediately held Pete's arm tight trying to calm him while P'Mish held P'Ram's.
"Fine, I will drop you at home, Die from starving for all I care" P'Ram huffed
"Pete, Please" Kao requested Pete to calm down
Pete harshly pulled himself away from Kao's grip and sighed to get a grip... "I am sorry, P'"
Just then P'Ram stopped and parked the car... "I am eating, Stay in the car if you don't want to eat". P'Mish followed him in to the restaurant without a word.
"Pete I might throw up everything I eat, But I don't want to disrespect P'Ram, I am going in" Kao informed and left the car
The table felt silent and heavy when Pete walked in and sat with them.
"P'" Pete called with a guilty face and P'Ram's face relaxed.
P'Ram then quietly stood up and hugged Pete from behind making P'Mish and Kao smile. Pete hugged him back... "I am Sorry, P', I don't know why I was being harsh though I knew you were only caring for me"
P'Ram chuckled... "Its all good, It's good that you let out your frustration from time to time, We are family, We are supposed to say harsh things to each other and make up again"
Everyone smiled wider at P'Ram's words.
"Now..." P'Ram asked sitting back... " Why don't you make up with Kao too and put it all behind us"
"Umm... Can I see the menu? I am really hungry P'" Kao was the one who dodged the question for Pete and pleaded P'Mish and P'Ram with his eyes to not bring it up. The Husband and wife dropped their shoulders feeling helpless.
"We have already ordered Kao, Did you forget?" P'Mish turned to Pete... "Pete , Kao ordered Red sauce Pasta for you, Do you want anything else?"
"Beer" Kao mumbled
"Beer" Pete answered
"Okay, Now that you both are sitting with each other, You should be able to eat a lot" P'Ram pointed out passing the hot dishes on to the table from the server.. "Dig in"
Well, Pete and Kao didn't eat a lot but they ate and the dinner was over.
"Kao let's order desserts" P'Mish showed desert menu to Kao
"No P' I am full" Kao rejected P'Mish's offer making Pete frown and chug down another beer. Even after all those years Pete's tolerance to alcohol didn't improve, he was completely drunk and he kept drinking. They had to forcefully stop him and drag him to the car.
Kao helped Pete to their room once P'Ram and P'Mish has dropped them and left. But Pete pushed Kao away... "I don't want to sleep with you"
"Pete!" Kao tried to convince him but Pete was not listening.
"No!" He shouted and closed the door to the room leaving Kao dejected in the corridor. Kao tried to walk away and sleep in the guest room, or atleast on the couch in the living room, but his legs refused to move. He didn't want to behave as if he is madly in love, still his ego lost and he couldn't deny the truth that he would be pathetic without Pete. He collapsed on the floor as sadness overwhelmed him once again, He kept crying and may be because he slept for days together, He could not fall asleep. He wiped his face and stood only when Puy called to check on him in the morning.
Pete cursed at the noise that's disturbing his sleep.... "I am the one who knows when Pete will wake up, And it is soon, So you should leave unless you want to leave insulted" It was Kao.
"Kao who is it?" Pete asked turning on the bed, He knew Kao could here him all the way from the living room and Kao did.
Kao looked at the new comers for a few seconds and sighed.... "It's your parents Pete, They are here to congratulate you for the award"
Kao could feel despair taking over Pete... "I have a bad hangover, Keep it low, will you" Pete casually replied.
Kao turned to the old and rich couple... "As you can see Pete is doing great..." Kao showed how big the house was... "So you should just leave him alone like you always have, He doesn't want to see you"
"What kind of upbringing did he have to treat us like this?" Pete's mother was heard asking.
Kao scoffed at her question... "You should go ask P'Mish"
"Why would we go ask a orphan about our son" Pete's father raged
"Sir, She still has your names as her official parents, Why did you adopt her if you never wanted to treat her as your daughter, You never cared when she was struggling to raise your son, If you thought you could come in anytime and claim your DNA, You better wake up, I don't have anything more to tell you , Please just leave" Kao said as calmly as he could
"Who are you to tell us that?" Pete's mother growled
"You keep asking me the same question, I was in the middle of making my boyfriend his hangover soup, Would you leave so I can get back to it, Also, It will be really appreciated if you never come back" Kao bowed despite the rage that was building in him nd Pete's parents left stomping.
After a few minutes, Pete calmly walked to the kitchen and sat on the high stool. Kao served him his soup and went back to cleaning.
"You should sleep in the guest room, Don't keep crying and make me uncomfortable" Pete said finishing the soup
Kao nodded... "Sorry, I didn't think it through"
Pete frowned at Kao's reply but didn't say anything.
Kao cooked lunch and dinner, but didn't eat with Pete. The next day was the same. Monday morning came and both of them got ready to go to work... " I will drive" Pete said picking the car keys, Kao nodded and took the shot gun. Pete frowned.
At the office everyone was glad that Kao came back.
"We are glad that you came back healthy Mr. Kao, We were all walking on egg shells as Mr. Pete was acting strange and looked beat. He didn't even bat an eye even when he heard we won the award" Kao's assistant blabbered.
Kao ignored everything... "Bring me all the pending files, I gotta catch up"
"There are no pending files," His assistant informed... "Mr. Pete was on top of everything, He was inhuman, The fast at which he works is just insane"
Kao nodded... "Bring me all the files from last week then, I still need to know what all happened"
"I know now why you both are perfect for each other" His assistant was heard mumbling as she walked out of Kao's cabin
That evening Kao heard a knock on his cabin door and looked up... "I am heading out, I have a meeting with clients"
"Okay, I will make dinner and wait for you" Kao smiled. Generally Kao would insist going with him and so Pete frowned yet again at Kao's reply.
Pete frowned numerous times in the coming days. Neither Kao asked why nor Pete asked why. Weekend came and the sisters insisted on a family dinner.
P'Mish, P'Puy and Kao were cooking in the kitchen while Pete and P'Ram decided to browse in the study room.
"So, Kao, what's going on?" P'Mish asked first
"What do you mean P'" Kao asked innocently
"Hmm..." Puy tapped Kao's head as if to knock some sense into him... "She is asking if you and Pete made up yet?"
"For now, I am giving him time" Kao replied cutting carrots
"Time for what?" P'Mish asked stopping the soup stirring
"For him to get used to living with out me" Kao mumbled, P'Mish and Puy looked at each other dumbfound.
