I would see him sit alone at lunch and in the classrooms.
Maybe talk to a few people and that was it.
And today was probably the day I was going to go talk to him.
"I'm going to go sit with him," I say to my lunch group.
We were all staring at him as he just ate his lunch happily.
He didn't have those big glasses he wore nearly everyday.
"I'm going to talk to him," I say as I clutched my water bottle in my hand.
"Go sit with him," my friend, Jay says.
"You know what? Let's all sit with him," my other friend Melanie suggests.
"Why that freak?" Jay scoffs.
"Because it might be nice. Hell who knows he might be something one day," I scoffed back.
Me and Melanie got up and sat at his table.
He looked up at us and his jaw dropped.
"Hi I'm y/n and this is Melanie," I introduced ourselves.
Melanie gave a little small wave.
"What's yours?" I asked him.
"Uh- my names Dong-hyeon," he stutters and smiles. "But you can call me BN if you'd like. I normally prefer it."
"What does BN stand for?" Melanie says.
BN all of a sudden started blushing.
"Uh, just a nickname my mom gave me. I never knew what it was," he stammers.
"You mind if we sit here?" I asked him.
"Sure go ahead," he laughs nervously.
For the past couple of months this was me and Melanie's spot.
We sat here everyday with BN and we just sat there and talk about nothing.
And that was only it.
We might say hey to each other in the hallway a little but that was it.
But later Jay overcame his little 'popular' status attitude and decided to come sit with us.
Just like that, we were talking everyday.
We sat together, we had a group chat together and it was like our own little bond just with each other.
I think out of the whole group, me and BN hung out the most.
"What does BN stand for?" I asked him.
I was over his house 'doing' homework with him.
I was in his room and it had posters of him and some rappers that I've never seen before.
"Do I really have to tell you?" He sighs.
"You can if you want," I say.
After a silent minute of me staring at him he gave in.
"BN stands for Big Naughty," he mumbled but I understood it.
"It was my rapper name actually. Back in Korea when I rapped for that show I was telling you about," BN says.
"Why'd you leave?" I asked him.
"I was getting too popular and people started acting crazy and just...bullied me. Plus my mom was planning on moving here anyways," he explains.
We just sat in silence again until his mom knocked on the door and came in.
"So this is homework?" BN's mom laughs.
"Uh mom we were-"
"It's alright," she laughs. "Plus I did that trick with your dad."
She winks and BN winces his face.
She leaves the room and BN and I just started talking again.
"Oh shit," I say as I checked my phone to see what time it is.
"I have to go BN."
"So soon?" He pouts.
"Yes," I say.
"Oh I have to ask you something," BN says nervously.
"Hm?" I say and his face dropped.
"I-I'll tell you tomorrow," he sighs putting his head down.
"You sure? I mean it's just us?"
BN just nods and gave me an assuring smile.
"I promise y/n."
I gave him a peck on the cheek and left the house.
I wonder what BN was going to ask me.
