BACKGROUND; born to emira weilert and mason bennett, she entered a world that already had a favorite child, her twin brother, adrian bennett. it seemed that her parents lavished more attention on adrian, who had been very socially underdeveloped and always a concerningly quiet kid. this favoritism made madelyn, the overlooked glass child, often feeling like a fragile ornament on the shelf of her parents' affection. despite her struggles at home, she did love her parents. though, madelyn discovered an alternative family in her close-knit circle of friends. James Potter, a childhood friend who had always stood by her side, was the pillar of support in her life. With james came his loyal companions, remus lupin, sirius black ( kind of ) and peter pettigrew, who embraced her as one of their own. at hogwarts, she found comfort in the friendships she forged with her dormmates, lily evans, alice fortescue, and marlene mckinnon. she also found this kind of friendship in maisie hadid, a classmate with a kindred spirit. though she loved her parents deeply, her chosen family of friends provided her with the unwavering support, understanding, and affection that she had always longed for, filling the void left by her parents' inadvertent neglect. despite the challenges of the first wizarding war, they all found reassurance in each other, until tragedy struck when madelyn lost her parents in a death eater attack.
when madeyn was in her 6th year, hogwarts at the time, held the triwizard tournament. she initially was not going to put her name in it, but last minute due to both a dare and the fact that Sirius had begged her not to, she did. she was chosen to compete on behalf of hogwarts. she had done moderately well throughout each challenge. for the yule ball, her date originally was to be remus lupin, whom she'd had a crush on for a while. during the ball though, it was revealed that he was more into her brother, which left her heartbroken and feeling as if she was just always below him. she continued the party though alongside sirius black, which is how their friendemieship slowly became more.
