Niara is a kind lioness cub who is friendly to those who are friendly to her. She believes trust and friendliness is a two way street. She won't trust you or be friendly if you're not being friendly or trustworthy. Though she does tend to give others the benefit of the doubt. Oftentimes resulting in a bad situation for others. Despite this Niara cares deeply for those around her. Her family and friends mean the world to her and she'd be devastated to lose any of them. When she meets Rani and they become mates she often worries about her. Though she does make sure she isn't overbearing towards her. After all she's capable of caring for herself. Niara can be pretty stubborn at times especially when she's frustrated. When Kiara became Queen for a few days the way Tiffu and Zuri acted about it drove her crazy. As it influenced Kiara's perception of herself as high and mighty and can do no wrong. She made a bad decision with a rescue costing herself her pride. As Kiara reprimanded her but, ended up making her own silly decision later on. Despite the dangers that the Lion Guard faces throughout their days she never backs down. Niara will always protect the circle of life even if it means risking her own life. This plays into her devotion towards the Pridelands, her friends and family. She'll always be there for them when they need a paw or a shoulder to cry on. Niara is known as the fiercest animal in the Pridelands. This title holds true in the way she's always seen driving off enemies and giving it her all. She goes full force and seems to never stop. Though like all animals she has her limits. She rests when needed and encourages the other lion guard members to do the same. Niara like all cubs her age is playful. She loves to play baobab ball with her friends. She also loves to wrestle with other cubs who are willing or even occasionally Fuli. She has that cub energy inside her. Most times it's channeled into her rescues as she needs to be strong and energetic to run around the Pridelands. She's a leader through and through. She'll guide her friends through their troubles and doubts. She also keeps the guard on track and focused during things. Especially when it comes to Bunga and his reckless enthusiasm. She tends to have to stop the honey badger in his tracks before he gets hurt.

Niara was born roughly a year after her sister Kiara. She was the second cub to Simba and Nala. The future leader of the lion guard. She grew up learning how to be a princess even if she wasn't going to be queen one day. She got along well with her sister Kiara and her sisters friends Tiffu and Zuri. Even if the two girls tended to drive her nuts when they acted stuck up and narcissistic. She befriended and got close to a honey badger named Bunga, an egret named Ono, a hippo named Beshte and a cheetah named Fuli. One day whilst playing Baobab ball with Bunga he went into the Outlands. She watched from the cliffside nervous. Two hyena's known as Cheezi and Chungu tried to take Bunga as food. However being angered by this Niara said "let. Him. Go!" And she let out a loud roar. Briefly a marking appeared on her shoulder. From that day forth she was the leader of the lion guard. Thus was granted the ability to use the roar of the elders. She was constantly learning new things about her job and keeping the pridelands safe.
