Wanda Maximoff wasn't really a name that everyone in Westview knew, but she was always living in her twin brother's shadow. He was favored by their parents as he was the famous wide receiver on the Varsity Football Team. He had scholarship offers from a lot of famous Universities as Wanda was only able to attend community college.

Although the moment she met her brother's best friend, Jarvis Stark when he joined Pietro at a family event, she was intrigued by him. He seemed to be well read and smart, too smart to be her brother's friend. So she was soon dating the College Star Quarterback, becoming his number one fan, but of course their relationship has its fair share of ups and downs. They fought regularly and Jarvis would always storm out of the apartment they shared when they graduated college. Of course the moment he popped the question, she said yes, all of the alarm bells that ring every day in her mind were silenced by that one gesture. Her parents were over the moon and started to treat her like they treated her brother.

But the moment her entire world came crashing down as she returned home from work, clothes were scattered on the floor, trailing to their shared bedroom and moans could be heard. Wanda covered her mouth to muffle the sobs as she opened the door. Seeing her fiancè in bed with her best friend at the time. The moment Jarvis spotted her, he scrambled to his feet as she slammed the ring in his chest before turning away from him.

"It's not what it looks like." He told her as she shook her head, tears falling down her face.

"Why?" She asked him. "I thought we were great. In love but this." She shook her head as he reached for her. "Don't you dare touch me!" She yelled at him. "And with her. My best friend."

"I'm so sorry Wanda. It just happened." He started as she shook her head no.

"We're done." She whispered as she moved passed him, grabbing a bag and filling it with her clothes and her most prized possessions.

"You can't leave me." He told her as she sighed.

"Yes, I can." She told him firmly as she finished packing.

"No one will love you Wanda. Even your parents will turn their back on you." He told her firmly as she shook her head.

"I am done." She told him, her voice cracking as she looked at the person who broke her heart. "We are done." She left as fast as she could, her hands soon dialing her mom as she drove to her parents home.

"Wanda, hi." She spoke as she answered the call.

"Mama." She cried as she drove. "He."

"What happened Wanda?" She questioned as she heard her daughter cry.

"He cheated." She answered her as she soon pulled up outside of her parents home, hanging up and heading straight inside.

"Oh my dear." Iryna spoke softly as she pulled her in for a tight hug, leading her inside their home.

"I can't believe it." Wanda cried in her mother's arms. "With my best friend." She hiccupped as Iryna held her.

"Are you going to work through it?" She asked as Wanda pulled away, a confused look on her face. "An engagement ending will be extremely bad for the families." She told her.

"I don't care how people see the family, mama." Wanda told her. "I am not going to be with someone who will break my heart like that."

"You're disappointing me Wanda." She told her. "Jarvis is your brother's best friend. Think of their friendship."

"No!" She stood up as her mom gave her a look of disdain. "I am not going to work on it with Jarvis. He and I are done."

"But the wedding is already booked." Her mom tried to reason.

"Well, I guess he and Jean can have one hell of a party then." She spat before she left the house. Luckily she had enough in her savings for her to use for a couple of months, three at a stretch. She soon found herself driving to Los Angeles, finding a cheap hotel until she could rent her own apartment. She had also tendered her resignation at the school, not wanting to be in the same state as her family.

She spent the next couple of weeks finding an apartment and looking for a job. Although she managed to get a studio apartment for cheap, she still remained unemployed. After a job hunt, she bumped into someone who was in a rush to head out, she had red hair and was talking in Russian on the phone.

"I'm sorry about her, she can be very." They smiled as they spotted Wanda walking up the hall. "I'm Y/N." They held out their hand for her to shake. "I guess we are neighbours."

"Wanda." She spoke shyly as she took their hand.

"Well, Wanda, if you would like a coffee or an alcoholic beverage of your choosing, just knock on." They gave her a boyish grin which made her smile. She felt oddly comfortable around them.

"I will keep that in mind." She told them as she opened her door. "It's been quite a tiring day and I just want to put my feet up."

"Work?" They questioned as they leaned on the wall beside her door.

"Job hunting." She told them. "Not many schools are taking on, especially with it being the middle of the school year."

"If you need money, I have a secretary job available." They told her.

"That's a bit of a step down from teaching." She told them with a smirk.

"Yeah it is, but it will keep the lights on and food in your fridge." They countered as she hummed. "Just think about it. It will only be until you can get a job in your particular field."

"Why are you helping me?" She asked them as they stepped away.

"I can see you need it Wanda." They told her with a smirk. "So come by Sparks Gym tomorrow morning, ask for me."

"Thank you." She whispered as they shrugged.

"It's ok Wanda." They smiled at her before heading to their door. "I'll be seeing you Wanda." She couldn't help but smile as she locked the door behind her. Taking off her shoes and jacket as she moved to get the leftover Chinese food from the fridge. She couldn't help but wonder where she saw their face from, they looked extremely familiar but she couldn't think at all.

She spent the night watching her favourite TV show, although she was alone, with no family or friends in this new place, she felt content. She felt at home here, away from the stress of trying to live up to her parents expectations.

The next morning came around pretty fast, so she got herself ready as she sipped her coffee before leaving. Using Google Maps to find the Gym as she was still getting used to LA. She was shocked when she entered the Gym, it was bright and the atmosphere was extremely chilled.

"Wanda!" She heard Y/N's voice, her breath hitching as she noticed their sweaty form. "You came."

"Well, I couldn't stand you up." She told them as she fixed her glasses. "And well, I need the money."

"Come on." They led her to their office.

"I knew I recognised you!" She blurted out as they passed a cardboard cutout of them. "My brother watched all of your matches."

"I wish I never had to have them up, but my best friend and coach said it would be good publicity." They told her as they opened the door for her.

"If you don't like the fame, why do you have such a popular career?" She asked them.

"I love boxing." They shrugged. "It was my father who got me into it but that can be a story for another day." They smiled as they sat across from her. "Here is an application form." They handed her a piece of paper. "I will just need your birth certificate and I.D so I can copy it and we can maybe get your training started soon."

"Are you sure about this?" She asked them.

"I am." They told her. "I have noticed you from when you moved in, Wanda. You haven't had any visitors, you don't talk to anyone on the phone and every day you come home, you look even more defeated than the last, which tells me you're slowly running out of your savings."

"Are you sure you aren't a spy?" She teased them as they chuckled.

"I am observant." They told her as they copied her I.D. "It comes with the career, needing to observe the opponents every movement."

"I am new here." She told them as they sat down and handed her the items back. "I come from a small town in New Jersey." They listened intently as she kept her eyes on the application form. "Ex Fiancè cheated on me with my best friend and well, he was my brother's best friend and my parents never really cared about me, so that is how I came to be here."

"I'm sorry that happened to you." They spoke softly as she shook her head.

"I guess it's for the best." She shrugged as they shook their head no.

"I guess seeing how you grow from that experience defines you and shows how strong you really are." They told her with a soft smile before they looked out of the window. "I am having a few friends of mine over tonight, just drinks and some takeout, maybe you would like to come along."

"I don't know." She handed them the now finished application form.

"Just think about it." They told her with a smile as she stood up. "And you can start here on Monday morning, Kate will help you with your training."

"Thank you for this Y/N." She told them as they walked her out.

"It's ok Wanda." They smiled before they were called away to help break up a fight. Wanda laughed at them as they made a goofy face.

Wanda could hear them laughing and having fun, the music was playing low in the background, being respectful to their neighbours. Once she finished the latest episode, she decided to get her shoes on and her keys, locking the door behind her as she knocked on their door nervously.

"Wanda, you made it." They smiled as they answered the door.

"Well, I couldn't stay home alone." She told them as she straightened her glasses.

"I am glad you made it. Come in." They pulled her inside and led her to their friends. She was already nervous about meeting new people but they seemed to be cool. "This is Natasha Romanoff, my best friend and coach." They pointed to the redhead she bumped into earlier that week. "This is Bucky Barnes, he is a trainer at the gym."

"I run it when this one goes out on their fights." He smirked as he looked Wanda up and down.

"Only because I am not there." They pushed him away, a hint of jealousy in their eyes. "And this is Kate Bishop and her girlfriend Yelena Belova."

"Also, the redhead's sister." She smirked as she shook Wanda's hand.

"Do you all work together?" Wanda asked as she took a seat beside Yelena on the three seater.

"I don't work with them." Yelena answered her. "Those three have been friends since high school and Kate needed a job so Y/N gave her one."

"My parents cut me off because I came out to them." Kate told her. As the three conversed, Y/N went to get Wanda a drink as Bucky followed them.

"What is the deal with Wanda? Is she single?" He questioned as he leaned on the counter.

"She is off limits." They told him firmly. "Besides, I don't think she is looking for a relationship right now."
"I don't mind being used for sex." He shrugged as he sipped his beer.

"Just because we are friends, doesn't mean I won't kick your ass if you even think of trying something with her." Y/N snarled as Bucky just smirked.

"I'll take that as a challenge." He patted their shoulder before heading back to his previous chair. As the night wore on, Kate and Yelena had left as she had an early start, leaving just Y/N, Wanda, Nat and Bucky. Y/N watched as Bucky sat impossibly close to Wanda as the two spoke, seeing how she laughed at something he said as she rested her hand on his shoulder.

"You're staring." Nat whispered as she joined Y/N.

"I'm observing." They told her, she hummed as she took a sip of her drink. "I just, I am looking out for her."

"Bucky is your friend." Nat stated.

"But I don't trust him around Wanda. She has had her heart broken and I know his history with breaking hearts." They told her.

"Maybe this could be different?" Nat questioned as they sighed.

"You're right." They finished their drink and headed for another one.

"Hey." Wanda spoke softly as she stood behind them. "I'm going to head home."

"Yeah." Y/N smiled as they turned to face her. "Let me walk you."

"That's alright Y/N." Bucky smirked as he stood behind Wanda, a hand on her hip. "I'm heading out too."

"Ok." They nodded as they watched the two. "I'll see you both tomorrow." Wanda smiled as she gave them a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you for tonight Y/N." She smiled before she walked away, Bucky smirking as he followed behind her.

"I'm sure nothing will happen." Nat stated as Y/N shrugged their shoulders.

"I don't care if anything does happen between them, Nat." They told her before heading to the bathroom.

"I call bullshit." Natmumbled with a smirk as she tidied up a little before she left herself.
