A LOT OF THINGS HAPPENED ON '93
The turning of the tides. New world leaders are being appointed one after another, the costs to survive is drastically increasing, riots & protests are now present in major cities, the underworld emperors are becoming more active, drugs & violence ran rampant, and Shanks Le Roux finally left the life he lived in New World City.
HOWEVER,
Raftel is nothing to write home about. It's a sleepy town at the edge of the Red Line peninsula with the same nobodies living the same lives throughout the years. They say this is the place where old city folk who worked their whole lives go to to retire, and die. A boring town with boring people. Nevertheless, as crazy as it sounds, Shanks Le Roux never felt more alive than he did that summer.

Shanks Le Roux will tell you that he only ever loved once. He happened, and the rest are just tragic & pathetic attempts to recreate the sensation of him. You could get him drunk — Shanks will tell you stories of those who moved him throughout the years, those who almost succeeded in acquiring him whole. 𓆩 tbh, it's about time i write a bxb fic. someone on tiktok said that mihawk + shanks seems like a friend w/ benefits situation because shanks can't move on from buggy (pls their anime break up is so sad) because buggy is the one that got away. therefore, i knew that i had to revamp this old shanksfic of mine and turn it into shanks/buggy.
𓆩 also, if you've read this old story of mine from my old account called WICKED NIGHTS — this fic has the same vibe as that. a few tweaks, but same concept. drugs & gangs with shanks/buggy being caught up in it. same modern world too — the red line peninsula, raftel, sabaody coasts, spidermiles, new world city, etc. i'm still kinda on the fence whether the antagonist should be croco or doffy. i mean, croco being in cross guild and all.
