Wooyoung's POV:
"They are literally screaming in the other room." I shook my head, trying to hang ornaments on the tree.
"It's their first time, let them have their moment." San picked me up to help me reach closer to the top.
"As you can clearly see, I am letting them have it." He lowered me down and went back to putting some on by himself. I smiled fondly, fully acknowledging Felix and Hyunjin. I'm just remembering all the times Hyunjin and I would joke about him dying a virgin.
"What?"
"It's just nice that it's their first time together and I just know it's probably really loving and intimate."
San had a confused expression. "Is that supposed to mean something?" That's when I became confused.
"What?"
"Like 'oh it's so nice they're having sex for the first time because they love each other instead of a drunk hookup' or am I reading this entirely wrong."
"Drunk hookup, very nice." I nodded. "Good to know that's what that was for you."
"Wooyoung, you know I don't mean it like that."
"And you should've known I didn't mean it like that either, yet here we are. You really think I'd be shady like that towards you? Are you serious right now?"
"Alright, I'm sorry." He said it in such a way where I knew he just wanted to move on rather than seem sincere.
I was willing to get past the misunderstanding, but to call our first time a 'drunk hookup' hurt. It was so much more to me than that. That was the night we met, he took care of me, he took my virginity, we woke up next to each other the next morning and cuddled all night long. But apparently that wasn't the right way to think about it.
"Go home or leave the room for like two minutes. Take your pick." I tried my best to stay calm. He didn't argue with me and just left me alone. I took long deep breaths, attempting to regain composure. "Drunk hookup." I said aloud. "Choi San!" I screamed. He awkwardly and slowly came back into my room, closing the door gently. "Let me make one thing abundantly clear to you." I walked over, meeting eye level with him. "That was not a drunk hookup. Don't you ever fucking say that again. You're lucky that night even happened, otherwise you wouldn't be here in this damn room." I could tell he was intimidated. He clenched his jaw tight and looked directly into my eyes as I spoke. "You're not stupid so don't say stupid things. What I meant was that I'm happy that Hyunjin fucking loves someone enough to even get to that level. This had nothing to do with you or me. So tell me now, is there something else in your head that made you spit that shit out or were you dead serious? I'm giving you that chance because I know your brain well."
"Fuck, you're scary." He looked left and right with wide eyes.
"San." I was losing patience.
"I'm sorry." He sounded more genuine compared to his first apology. "I don't know why I thought that's what you meant." He looked away from me.
"Don't take your shit out on me. Get defensive and weird somewhere else, but not here." He looked at me lovingly rather than seeming afraid like before. "What, why are you looking at me like that?"
"I just love you."
I lightly smacked him on the cheek. "The fuck is wrong with you?" I failed at trying to contain my smile.
"You've never gotten in my face like that before. What, was I not supposed to be wildly turned on by that?" He defended himself as if his argument was valid.
"I cannot stand you sometimes." I shook my head and pushed him on the bed. I knew he'd think my actions meant one thing, but I needed to get back to this tree.
"You're such a tease, oh my god." He whined.
"You thought I was being shady, called me a drunk hookup, broke my heart into a million pieces, I had to scold you like you were a child, and you think I'm going to have sex with you?" I laughed.
"No." He awkwardly answered.
"Correct." I laughed. "Now get your ass up and help me finish your tree." He groaned once he got off the bed. I wanted him to grab an ornament, but instead wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and rested his head on my shoulder. "You're frustrating me." I mumbled, trying to figure out where I wanted to hang the snowflake in my hand.
"I know." He sighed.
"You're not usually like this. Talk to me, honey, what's going on?" I finally found a place to hang it and turned around to face San.
"The last time I did anything like this was when my mom and my sister still lived with me." He pouted his lips, feeling awkward.
I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "That's all you had to say." I held him close to me. "But you had to be difficult, huh. Straight guy behavior, just saying." I teased.
"You're so annoying." He laughed.
"Don't say that." I put forth my best acting skills, seeming upset by his teasing.
"I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean it, you're not annoying." His whole demeanor changed as he panicked.
I stifled a laugh. "Bitch."
He gasped in disbelief as I was able to trick him. He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.
"I take it back, you are annoying." He set me down on the bed and started to tickle my sides.
"San, stop!" I laughed uncontrollably. "Sannie!"
"Nope."
"We can have sex!" I was desperate for him to stop.
"Nope. What're the magic words?"
"Oh, fuck you!" The laughing increased once he found a highly ticklish spot on the inside of my thigh.
"I don't think those are it." He shook his head.
"I love you! I love you, Sannie! I love you!" I shouted, hoping that was what he wanted to hear.
"I love you too." He smiled sweetly, stopping immediately.
"I should still be mad at you, how do you get me in these situations?" I pouted, realizing I let my guard down and allowed him to sweet talk his way out.
"Because," he pecked my lips, "you love me," he kissed me again, "and you know I never mean to intentionally upset you," and again, "but I'm just an idiot sometimes who doesn't completely know how to act in a relationship," one more time, "with someone as perfect as you."
"You have such a way with words." I sighed with playful adoration. "Now move." I pushed him to the side and got off the bed.
"Wooyoung." He whined. I smiled and waved him towards me. He dragged himself to follow me outside my room. "Don't bother them, babe." I was staring at Hyunjin's door and snapped my wrist at him dismissively.
I walked over and lightly knocked twice. "Hyunjin? Felix?" I said softly. Not a word. I slowly opened the door just to make sure they were okay. It's a weird habit I have, I know. It's not that I'm purposely trying to be nosey; I just need to make sure my best friends are safe in their room.
I smiled fondly at the sight of them asleep, entangled in each other's arms. My heart was full once I realized Hyunjin didn't have a shirt on. He doesn't even let me see him shirtless. That just goes to show how much he loves Felix.
I gently closed the door and went back to my room with San.
"Are they sleeping?"
I nodded.
"Can we sleep?"
"You're tired?"
"No, I just don't want to hear your voice anymore." He rolled his eyes. "Yes, I'm fucking tired."
I laid in bed and got under the covers, waiting for him to join me. He got more comfortable as he took his shirt off, knowing that would make me smile. It's practically my weakness. Am I not supposed to act like I have the hottest boyfriend in the world? Right, exactly.
He held my head close to his chest the way he does every night and started to play with my hair.
"I'm really sorry for upsetting you before, Wooyoungie, I mean it."
"I know, Sannie." I kissed his bare chest, feeling at ease being so close to him. "I love you." I felt myself drifting off sooner than expected.
"I love you." He repeated, lightly scratching my head.
We may go back and forth like an old married couple, but there's one thing I can say about me and San: I wouldn't trade it for the world.
