"Psst!"
As she sat down in her favorite class, which happened to be the last period of the day, she swiftly wrote down and answered each mathematical equation, making sure to double check each for any mistakes.
"Psst! Iseul! Han Iseul!" More urgent this time. Iseul payed them no attention as she continued to write down her calculations. Wasn't it clear that them she was obviously busy?
She could have been finished by now, if it wasn't for the familiar voice trying to get her attention from behind for the past five minutes.
"Iseul!" The voice desperately called out to the quiet girl.
She quickly finished her work before clicking down on her velvet pen before turning around to face the exasperated boy seated behind her. "Yes Jungwon?" She asked as she giggled at his current state. He was obviously very irritated, considering Math was one of his least favorite subjects. His hair was disheveled, probably from the amount of the times he had ran his irritated hands through it. It made him look more attractive though.
In one hand, he was impatiently gripping his blue ballpoint pen. In the other he was gripping down on his notebook so hard he was basically crumpling it.
Iseul noticed how distressed he was before gently grabbing his soft hand and prying his strong hold off.
"Leave the poor notebook alone." She mumbled, "What'd it ever do to you?"
She meant that as a joke but the dramatic boy took it straight to heart.
"What'd it ever do to me?" He sassily gasped, "It's ruining my life and if I don't finish it I won't be able to go to training again."
She rolled her eyes as the boy continued his rants about how important it was for him to attend rugby training because he was one of the best players and that his team probably missed him. He then moved on to complain about how Math wasn't even important and that it was just a bunch of silly numbers and symbols put together - that was until some idiot decided to add letters.
She sighed at his childish behavior before standing up and sitting in the empty seat beside him since he had no seatmate.
"What do you need help with?" She asked patiently as she took glance at him before looking at his book.
Jungwon immediately pointed at one of the questions written down. "I know he already explained this but it's still confusing to me." He reasoned.
She shook her head and smiled at him. "Don't worry, it's fine, I was a little stuck on this too."
She took his book before flipped to a clean page before grabbing his pen out of reach as she began to write the equation down.
"Here," She began to explain as she circled a number, "plus the second number with this," She underlined another number, "then you multiply these two, divide it by the first number and simplify," she continued, "once you get your answer, you find the square root and your done." She circled the outcome and passed him his notebook.
"What?" He questioned.
"It's your turn." She reminded him gently.
As he nodded, he followed her explanation and worked out the equation. With a few more explanations and help from the intelligent girl, he was able to fully understand the formulas and complexity of each question.
Iseul watched as he quickly scribbled down the answer for the final equation before sliding his book to her once again. She analyzed each question, nodding as he had answered every single one this time. She gave him a proud smile before she closed his book and placed it on his desk.
"Good job." She simply said.
Jungwon wrapped his arms around her shoulder before lightly shaking it, "Yeah because I got your help, Iseul." He whispered lightly in her ear.
Did he really have to do that? To try and hide her flushed cheeks, she puffed them out, only to be teased even more as he poked them, knowing it annoying the girl.
"Aww, Iseul you're so cute." He cooed.
She tried to hide her face and move away but her best friend only pulled her closer and eventually wrapped both hands around her to give a hug.
The quiet girl sighed in defeat, knowing she couldn't escape him, before eventually hugging him back and patting his back. Jungwon them rested his head on her shoulder, ignoring the teasing stares they received from their fellow classmates. They had known him long enough to know he was always this clingy with Iseul, but they still decided to be nosy and not mind their own damn business.
He didn't mind though, as he only rolled his eyes before letting them close as he inhaled her sweet scent. Vanilla and cinnamon, comforting just like her. His breathe started slowing down to a peaceful pace and he found himself dozing off.
After a few seconds, Iseul had noticed that the boy wasn't speaking up anymore or shuffling around. She slowly turned her head to see the pretty boy lightly snoring as his eyes had shut.
She giggled softly, smiling fondly at how cute he was. Noticed that his brown hair was out of place, she brushed it back carefully, trying not to wake him. Once she moved his head into a more comfortable position, she rested her own on his before closing her eyes and falling asleep just like the boy.
The two friends rested peacefully, earning gentles gazes and curious glances from the class and even the teacher. They adored the bond that they had and wished for someone to share a relationship like theirs with.
But not even a few minutes later, there unexpected slumber was interrupted by and annoying, high pitched sound.
RING! RING!
The loud sound of the bell caused both pupils to flinch as they woke up, rubbing their eyes before realizing that they had slept during class.
Noticing his puffy eyes, Iseul chuckled as she pointed at him. "Why do your eyes always puff up when you sleep?" She teased already knowing the answer. She just liked seeing the boy pout like a child whenever someone would mention it.
"Don't play with me Iseul." He said seriously. He carefully rubbed the tiredness off his face while trying to remain his intimidating look but he couldn't help but join along to the girls joyous chorus of contagious laughter.
The two laughed together while standing up to pack their supplies and belongings before heading out of the classroom, not forgetting to bow to the teacher as they excused themselves.
As they stepped into the not so crowded hallway, they made their way through easily as the eager students had already rushed to get home, exhausted and tired of all the lectures and lessons they had to sit through for hours.
"So do you have any plans today?" Jungwon asked Iseul as they stopped at her locker while she stored her things. It was obvious he had rugby practice but he wanted to know if she was busy, and if not they could hangout later.
Iseul pondered a while before nodding her head. "Yeah," She hummed as she grabbed her chemistry textbook and English notes, "I have a study session - or date as she likes to call it, with a special someone."
Jungwon nodded along as they made their way again, greeting a few friends and classmates along the way. Once they finally got to the front of the school gates, Iseul turned around to face Jungwon before giving him a quick hug.
"Thank for dropping me off, Jungwon." She smiled cheerfully. The boy couldn't help but smile back at the shorter girl before patting her head. "I do this for you everyday Iseul, you don't need to thank me."
It was an unspoken rule - or habit. Jungwon would always drop her off at the front of the school gates if he couldn't walk home with her for any reason. He would also drop her off from her classes whenever they had different periods for that day. Every morning, he would be waiting by her front porch so they could head to school together.
Iseul would always tell him he didn't need to, but he insisted and Iseul wouldn't say anything else, knowing how stubborn he was.
"Still." She reasoned. "It's basic manors." With another pat on her head, they bid each other another goodbye before splitting ways, Jungwon heading to the fields in the very back and Iseul heading to a familiar cafè.
She smiled brightly along the way, reminiscing back to class when Jungwon and her had fallen asleep on each other.
Even though it had only been a minute, she was already missing him. She let her wonderous thoughts drift back to his captivating boba eyes, the deep crescents in his cheeks whenever he would smile or laugh. The way his fluffy hair bounced along with him whenever he was in a glorious mood and his soft, comforting voice.
She chuckled lightly as she shook her head, catching herself being so caught up with a boy who just happened to be her childhood best friend. Someone she known her whole life and shared her most giddy moments with.
The girl quickly patted her cheeks as she could feel the warmth spreed through her ears. Puffing out an annoyed breath, she fixed her posture before walking faster, as she was already running late.
Get it together Iseul.
