"Jared's here," Morgan said, waking me up. I opened my eyes and stretched slowly.

"What time is it?" I asked

"8:15 AM" he said dryly. I yawned.

"Why is he here so early?" I asked, rubbing my eyes softly. Morgan shrugged.

"To save the princess, I guess," he said, obviously bitter that Jared was even here to begin with. I rolled my eyes.

"Come here," I requested, pulling him onto the bed with me. "Just five more minutes," I begged, resting my head onto his chest and snuggling up against his warm body. He kissed the top of my head.

"C'mon, I'll make you some fresh juice," he said, gently getting me off of him and hopping out of bed.

"Juice? It's 8 o'clock in the morning, sir. I want coffee," I giggled.

"No more coffee."

"Why?"

"Because, Dr. Engler said to be extra careful," he said softly, putting a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Yeah, about heavy lifting and stuff, not about coffee!" I frowned.

"Baby-"

I got out of bed instantly, threw on one of Morgan's oversized shirts and ran out of the bedroom.

"Jaaared??" I yelled from the hallway.

"Yeah?"

"Can I have coffee?" I asked, sitting down on the couch next to him. Morgan came and stood behind me.

"Dr. Engler said to be careful, Aubrey. I just want what's good-"

"She can safely have 200mg per day, which is roughly two regular sized cups of coffee. No more than that though," he said, cutting Morgan off. I smiled.

"See?" I told Morgan. "I told you I could have some."

"Do whatever you want, Aubrey," he sighed. "I think I'm gonna go fishing."

"Babe, I didn't mean to-"

"It's fine," he said. "I just need to clear my head, that's all."

"Stress is worse than coffee for the baby, if you want my opinion," Jared mumbled.

"Not that I particularly want your opinion, but what exactly is that supposed to mean?" Morgan asked arrogantly.

"Guys, it's not-" I started before Jared cut me off.

"Fighting with your pregnant girlfriend -who should be your pregnant wife, if you ask me- is not only dumb and immature, but it's also bad for your child."

"Are you calling me immature? 'Cause, I don't know, but it seems to me that someone hiding a pregnancy from the baby's dad, who's supposed to be your best friend, by the way, is kinda-"

"You both are fucking stressing me out right now!" I snapped. "What the fuck is this? Are y'all trying to figure out who has the biggest swinging dick?!"

"I'd win that for sure," Morgan chuckled.

"It doesn't mean what you think it means, idiot," Jared added.

"Seriously, guys?! How old are you?!" I said, getting seriously annoyed by them both.

"Can I go fishing now or will that stress you out too much, mama?" Morgan asked. I rolled my eyes.

"Go, I'm fine," I sighed, rubbing my forehead. He kissed the top of my head gently.

"I'll be back in a few hours. Call if you need anything," he said softly, slowly turning back into the person I knew and loved. "I love you."

"I love you too," I said, watching him leave.

"Is he always like that?" Jared asked as soon as Morgan had closed the door.

"Are you?" I snapped, letting him know I didn't think he was innocent in this.

"I'm on your side!" He defended himself.

"There are no sides, Jared! He's my boyfriend and the father of my kid!"

"Still no ring though." he shrugged.

"Why are you acting like that?" I asked, shocked by his comment. "I don't even recognize you right now."

"Because, I've thought about it and it was wrong of me to try and force you into telling him about the baby. You deserve someone who's 100 percent in!"

"He is 100 percent in! He's buying me a house and we-"

"Buying you a house don't mean shit to him. It won't even make a dent in his bank account. You can't measure commitment with material things when you're dating someone like that. Where's the ring, Aubrey?"

"I didn't want the ring!" I snapped. He looked into my eyes softly.

"Really?" he mumbled.

"Yeah, I wasn't ready to-" Jared put a strand of my hair behind my ear and got closer to me. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"For a minute, I really thought you were gonna marry him, but knowing you said no," he said, cupping my left cheek in his hand and getting his face closer to mine. The door opened abruptly and Morgan walked in.

"What the fuck," he whispered, staring at Jared who still had his hand on my face. I slapped his arm lightly to get him off me.

"Baby, it's not-" I started.

"Get the fuck out of here," Morgan told Jared dryly.

"Morgan, man, this isn't-"

"Are you out of your goddamn mind?! Making moves on my pregnant girlfriend?! Get the fuck out of here before I throw you out, Jared," he said, getting more and more agitated. Jared got off the couch.

"I came all the way from Vermont to make sure she was okay and this is how you're gonna treat me?!"

"No one fucking asked you to come, man! There are other doctors, alright?! Now get the fuck out of my house," he yelled. Jared looked at me.

"Really, Aubrey? That's fine with you?"

"I don't know, Jared. It's- I have to clear my head right now," I admitted. He chuckled dryly.

"Wow," he whispered before turning on his heels and heading out. Morgan slammed the door.

"I'm gonna give you a chance to explain because I know in my core that you're not that type of girl, but I have zero patience for bullshit right now, Aubrey, I'm warning you" he said, obviously heated. "What the fuck was that?"

"I don't know," I mumbled.

"Seriously?!"

"I swear, I don't know what happened! He was telling me how I deserve someone who's a 100% in and that you buying me a house didn't mean a thing because you have so much money and-"

"Wow, that is fucking rich coming from him."

"He told me, like, where's the ring? So I said I didn't want the ring cause I wasn't ready and–"

"You told him you didn't wanna marry me..?" He asked, visibly hurt.

"I just said I wasn't ready," I shrugged.

"Would've been nice of you to let me know that before you went and told Jared," he snapped.

"I did tell you. I told you when you asked me to marry you in my freaking kitchen in Vermont!"

"You told me you didn't want to marry me like that. Because, you didn't want to rush into things and that I wasn't making it romantic. You didn't tell me you didn't wanna marry me at all. That changes things."

"Why does that change things?" I asked confused.

"Because, I- Fuck!" he said angrily. "I just wish you would've fucking told me that, Aubrey. Now, what? He thinks it's fair game? Is he right?! Is that what you want?! Fucking, best man wins?!"

"No, I- You're overreacting! I never said I didn't want to marry you ever! I just said I didn't want to rush into things!"

"Rush into things?! You're fucking pregnant with my kid! What could you possibly be rushing into at this point?"

"I don't want you to want to marry me just because I'm pregnant!" I yelled. "I want you to want to marry me for me!"

"I do want to marry you for you! What the fuck did you tell Jared?"

"Weren't you supposed to go fishing?!" I said, trying to avoid the conversation as I felt my eyes well up with tears.

"I left my phone inside, my bad! Maybe I should've waited until he had bent you over on the couch!"

"Stop yelling at me!" I said, tears rolling down my cheeks. He sighed.

"Maybe I shouldn't sell my house just yet. Maybe you and Ellie should move into the new house and I should just wait. See if we can even make this work."
