I was preparing extra hard for the upcoming exam when I went seriously ill. I couldn't continue giving the rest of the exams.
I used to lie on the bed and question myself, "Why me?"
I missed an excellent opportunity to show off my marks because the exams were going easy. As I got utterly okay, the exams were over too. My mom had told me to get some fresh air, so there I was, at the stationary shop. I bought a few things and then proceeded towards the Meat Bun Shop to treat myself. As I walked into the shop, the aroma activated my taste buds. After getting the warm meat bun, I turned back and bumped into someone.
And that someone was none other than him, the one with the soothing voice. Our eyes widened after meeting each other after so many days & the conversation began -
Me & Him: (at the same time) You?
Me: Hi!
Him: What happened to you? Why didn't you give the rest of the exams?
Me: I... went seriously ill.
Him: Oh!
Me: So, how were your exams?
Him: I guess 8 out of the 10?
Me: That's pretty good!
Him: Yeah, I worked extra hard this time.
Me: Me too, but I ended up getting ill.
Him: Don't worry. You can do better next time. So, were you running errands?
Me: Nah, just treating myself.
I don't know why, but he seemed more easy to converse with than he looked at school.
Him: can I ask you something?
Me: Sure (taking a bite from the bun)
Him: So, um wanna be FRIENDS?
I choked myself while eating the meat bun after hearing that.
Me: Sorry. I never thought you would ask this. Nobody ever asked me this, as far as I remember.
Him: So, what's the answer?
Without giving it a second thought,
Me: Of course, I'd love to! But wait, would you mind telling me your name?
Him : Yamamoto Haruki-des.
Me: Let's get along, Yamamoto-kun!
Yamamoto-kun: Sure. What's your name?
Me: (laughing) You asked me to be your friend without even knowing my name?
Yamamoto-kun: I tried to sneak into your paper to find out your name, but...
Me: Shibata Sachi-des.
Yamamoto-kun: Sure, Shibata-chan.
Me: Already using Chan?
Yamamoto-kun: You are too cute to be called Shibata-san.
My cheeks turned scarlet after hearing this from Yamamoto-kun because you know, I like him.
Yamamoto-kun: Then, Later.
Me: See you later.
I couldn't get over myself for some time. As I navigate this new friendship, I gradually realize that there might be a deeper connection between me and my crush after all.
