As soon as we saw chopper we all burst out into laughter, chopper wasn't a scary dog. He was actually pretty cute.
"That's chopper?" Gordie said laughing
Chopper was my first lesson on the vast difference between myth and reality.
"Come on choppy, kiss my ass choppy." Teddy said while rubbing his ass on the fence.
Milo quickly came running over
"Stop teasing my dog , you hear me? Stop teasing him!"
"Son, I'm gonna beat your ass teasing my dog like that."
Were some of the things milo said
"Yeah, I'd like to see you try to climb over this fence fatass." Teddy said
"Don't you call me that, you little tin weasel, peckerwood looney son." Milo replied
Milo had just called Teddys dad a looney, and we all knew how much Teddy cared for his dad.
"What did you just call me?" Teddy asked with a serious look on his face
"I know who you are, your Teddy Duchamp. Your dads a looney, a looney up in the nuthouse in togus. He put your ear to a stove and he burnt it off." Milo replied
Oh shit, this isn't gonna go well. That's what I thought.
"My father stormed the beach at Normandy."
"He's crazier than a shit house rat, no wonder your acting the way you are, with a looney for a father." Milo laughed
"Call my dad a looney again, and I'll kill you." Teddy said, we all knew he wasn't joking.
"Looney, looney, looney." Milo sang
Teddy jumped up onto the fence and yelled "I'm gonna rip your head off and shit down your neck."
Chris and Gordie got Teddy off the fence
"Come on and try it you little slimy bastard." Milo yelled
"Why don't you go over there so he cant beat the piss out of you and than report you to the cops." Chris yelled while holding Teddy back.
"You watch your mouth smart mouth smart guy, let him do his own fighting." Milo said
"Yeah sure, you only outweigh him by 500 pounds fatass!" Gordie yelled
"I know your name, your lachance I know everyone of you guys and all of your fathers are gonna get a call from me, except for the looney up in togus." Milo said
Teddy got up on the fence again and started yelling that he'd kill him, but Chris quickly pulled him away.
While Milo yelled at us to come back here we walked back onto the trail
"He stormed the beach you faggot!" Teddy yelled.
As we were following the tracks Teddy was crying. I'd never seen any of them cry, ever. Well except for vern. So this was strange
"He ranked my old man.." Teddy said through tears
I wondered how Teddy could care so much about his Dad, who practically killed him. And I couldn't give a shot about my own dad who hadn't laid a hand on me since I was 9.
"Why do you care what a fat old pile of shit says about your dad?"
Chris said
"Yeah, he still stormed the beach at Normandy right?" I added
"Just forget it." Teddy said through tears
"Do you think that old pile of shit was at Normandy?" Vern said
"Forget it alright?" Teddy said, wanting the conversation to be over
"He don't know nothing about your old man, he's just dog shit."
Vern said
"Whatever's in between you and your old man he can't change that." Chris said
Teddy yelled "just forget it alright, just forget it! Sorry for ruining everybody's good time."
"Maybe it shouldn't be a good time." Gordie said
"Are you saying you wanna go back?" I asked Gordie
"No, but we're going to see a dead kid maybe it shouldn't be a party." Gordie said, I agree maybe it shouldn't be.
"Yeah, I agree 'cause what if it's all bad and he's all cut up with blood and shit I might have nightmares." Vern said
"Shut up Vern." Chris said
We continued walking towards the bridge. Teddy was okay so we just kept walking.
Me, Vern, and Gordie were at the front while Teddy and Chris were behind us by a few feet. I overheard them talking when I heard my name.
"Hey what's up with you and Y/N?" Chris asked
"What do you mean?" Teddy said while smirking
"You flirt with her all the time, do you like her or something?" Chris said, his voice sounded different it was almost as if he was jealous.
"Well who doesn't?" Chris asked
"Chris man, you know I liked her first, I called dibs." Chris said almost sounding mad
Holy shit. Chris chambers likes me?? I smiled softly and kept talking to Vern and Chris while also listening to their conversation
"You can't call dibs on a person, it will be up to her to decide which one of us she likes." Teddy said confidently
I whisper in my best friend, Gordies ear
"Did you hear that?? Chris likes me!!"
Chris laughed and whispered "you didn't know? He's totally obsessed with youuuu."
As soon as I heard that I blushed soo hard and Gordie noticed and smirked
We got to the bridge and discussed
"Any of you guys know when the next train is due?" Vern asked nervously
We all shook our heads
"We could go down to the route 136 bridge." Chris said
"What are you, crazy? That's 5 miles down the river. You walk 5 miles down, you gotta walk 5 miles up. That could take until dark. You walk down here we'll get to the same place in 10 minutes." Teddy said, obviously annoyed with Chris
"Yeah, but if a train comes we'll have no where to go." Vern said
"Yeah , there is you just jump."
Teddy said
"Teddy that's a 100 feet." Chris said , with a mad tone is his voice
"Yeah, Teddy." Vern added
"Look, you guys can go around if you want. I'm crossing here, and while you guys are dragging yourselves half way across the state and back I'll be here relaxing with my thoughts." Teddy said
"You use your left hand or your right hand for that?" Gordie asked jokingly
We all started walking across the bridge.
I walked beside Chris while Teddy was behind us, Vern and Gordie were in the back because Vern was crawling instead of walking.
We continued walking for a few more seconds. Me , Chris and Teddy were more than halfway across while Gordie and Vern weren't even halfway
Suddenly Gordie yelled "TRAIN"
Chris grabbed onto my hand we bolted to the other side of the tracks. I ran as fast as I could while Chris was holding onto my hand tightly. We made it to the other side and sighed in relief.
Gordie and Vern weren't so lucky. Gordie was stuck behind Vern while he was crawling. We all yelled at him to stand up and eventually he did. They both started running. Vern fell over and they both stopped because Gordie was behind him. Gordie yelled at him to get up and he didn't for a few seconds but than he did. They were so close to the train and I was terrified so I held onto Chris's hand tighter. Just as the train was about to hit them Geordie pushed them and they jumped
As soon as the train was done we checked to see if they were okay, they were. I looked up at Chris and stopped holding his hand. "Sorry.." i said to him "no worries." He said while smiling. Teddy looked over at us and looked jealous as fuck.
"Now we know when the next train was due." Chris said sarcastically
