She was the heir to a cruel father and a wicked mother, terrible people who'd forsaken the lives of hundreds just to obtain what they most desired: power. And in their case, power resembled a seat made from a thousand swords and knives that had once belonged to the men Maegor the Cruel and Rhoswen Strong had slaughtered for it.
And born from that thirst for the Iron Throne, was a babe. Nursed by the blood of those executed and rocked by the sharpness of the swords of the throne, an heir to Maegor the Cruel had been born.
Aelyx, a presumed heir bearing the name of a babe that should have been male. She was a hollow wooden chest made to contain all her parents' hatred, their anger, their own failings, their ambitions, aspirations and burdens. She carried them with her like a crown of thorns, drawing blood from her fingers and threatening to tear her skin to shreds should it be removed. Another minuscule ember in the untamed wildfire that was the prophecy that sealed all the women born descendants to Naerys Targaryen together.
Without Rhoswen Strong, Maegor the Cruel's reign would have ended ten years earlier than it did, and perhaps Aelyx would never have been brought into this unforgiving land of the living. The Raven of Harrenhal was the cruel King's key to unlocking true power, and without her, Maegor the Cruel would only have been a brief passage of House Targaryen's history that children would later pass right by. Instead, thanks to her blood magic and the Old Valyrian witchcraft impressed upon her by her own mother, Naerys, Rhoswen Strong had made sure that her husband's reign would be a black and dark stain bleeding across the parchment which contained the family tree of the Targaryen Dynasty. And thanks to the child she had born him, the witch had ensured that that dark patch would be ever-growing through her descendants, tainting the Targaryen name forever.
Aelyx Targaryen had been only one year of age when her parents were killed by what they loathed yet craved most of all: The Iron Throne—and each other, or so the Maesters suspected.
Maegor the Cruel and Rhoswen Strong had been found by their progeny, impaled through the throat and the heart upon the jagged mess of swords and knives of the iron seat. Mere moments after the child had slathered her bare feet in the blood of her makers, the doors of the throne room had slammed open and Jaehaerys Targaryen, aged twenty and four, already married and with already two male heirs to spare, entered to claim his throne.
Most Maesters would go on to say that the cruelest and most unbearable years of Aelyx Taragryen's life had been the year she had been in the clutches of the most cruel man of all : her father.
Though the maesters wished not to write that from the moment Jaehaerys Targaryen had laid his palm on Aelyx's head in that throne room, that was when the cruelest years of Aelyx Targaryen's life had begun. ❞

• okayyyy looks like i'm not publishing these in order after all lmao
• welcome to book 3 of the songs of the damned series, this'll follow aelyx ( my poor, sweet babygirl ) who's rhoswen (book 2)'s daughter and naerys' (book 1) granddaughter
• as always bc it's me, i did tweak the timeline a bit as you can tell : maegor's reign lasts longer (mostly bc of rhoswen, my queen) but also because i thought it'd make more sense for the storyline of the series that his reign would last longer (it also makes him having no heirs (male heirs besides aelyx) that much more significant and since i love symbolic, prophecies and foreshadowing in my books i just HAD to take the opportunity)
• this is already a bit apparent, but i love adding to the ASOIAF lore, i like to make up my own stuff to add along to whatever GRRM has already written and i do that a lot in this series with witchcraft, harrenhal, the strongs, old valyria so yep :)
• also, this might be obvious but maegor is one of my fav targs (obviously he's a terrible person, i just mean character wise) and rhoswen and him are going to play a huge part in the continuation of this series and naerys' line + the prophecy (which you'll get snippet by snippet bc i suck at poetry) which is why i insisted a bit on them in aelyx's character synopsis
• i will publish rhoswen's book next and then i'll publish alaera (book 4) and emrys (book 5)'s books (both of them are my dance of dragon OCs for this series and i can't wait to reveal what i have planned for them)
• i did recently (last night) finish the entire family tree for this series which means i have a whole bunch of OCs, some of them more interesting than others (mainly my blackfyre OCs and some of my strongs)
• that being said because these OCs exist between the dance of dragons and robert's rebellion, i pretty much don't know if i'll write books for them just because i'm lacking a bit more source material to make an entire blackfyre rebellion fanfic for example
• BUT since i love my blackfyre OCs and just all the characters i created for this, i might end up doing a fire and blood type of thing where i just dedicate one chapter to a character and basically tell you their lives ( i have a strong!OC who cannibalised her brother and i'm dying to dedicate an entire chapter just for this one )
• let me know if that's something you'd wanna see, i'd probably make it a mini book with just one chapter per OC until my robert's rebellion / game of thrones books for this series
• feel free to ask any questions abt aelyx, this series, and just anything in general i could go on and on about this for hours and i'm tired of only talking abt it to my rabbit lmao
• i also need to preface this by as usual saying that i obviously do not support incest and all the batshit crazy and horrible things that happen in ASOIAF, i try to keep the GOT/HOTD/ASOIAF incest to a minimum in my stories, unless it's really relevant to the plot or if they're background characters i'm never planning on writing for. and even when i do write it, i try to keep it to distant cousins or cousins (i'm not a tad comfortable with much else.). TW as usual for death, gore, violence, incest, age gaps, toxic relationships, grooming, etc, (basically anything that's discussed in these shows).
• finally, i do not own ASOIAF, i do not own HOTD or Game of Thrones, I simply own my characters and the way they influence the original plot. do not copy this story, if you do i will pull a larys strong on you and KFC you like harwin and lyonel :)
