AMELIA KNIGHT
As I woke up, I was met by the divine sight of Lucas's face. Heat crept to my cheeks, as I reminisced about our shared moments together. However, as the events before it entered my mind, my mood soured. I cupped his cheeks, pressing a soft kiss on his forehead before covering myself with a duvet, and sitting upright, with my head resting back at the head rest.
"Don't think much about it." Lucas's voice made me turn. He laid there, his hands resting under his head as he stared at me with a blend of affection and care.
"I just can't stop thinking about the consequences, if you weren't there." I told him honestly. He settled down next to me, holding my hand.
"But I was, and I will always be there for you." He said. I lay down in his embrace, trying to calm my racing mind. Just in time, his phone buzzed.
"It's Mr.Reed." He said, answering the call. They talked for about a minute before he ended the call.
"What did he say ?" I asked.
"He wants to meet us." He replied. I felt a churn in my stomach.
"Will he be there ?" I asked, unsure of the reason.
"Hey." He caressed my cheeks. "Are you scared of him ?"
"I don't know. I just don't want to see his face." He pressed a soft kiss on my forehead.
"You don't have to be scared of him, Amelia. I am always with you." He whispered, looking dead in my eyes.
"I don't think I am scared but he is an incredulous bastard and I don't want to see him." I seethed.
Rising up from the bed, he wrapped a towel around his waist before lifting me up in his arms, and carrying me to the bathroom. He settled me down on the counter while preparing a bath for me.
His subtle ways of affection brought a smile to my face, once he came closer, I held onto his arms. His mesmerizing blue eyes shone with amusement.
"You're the best thing that has ever happened to me." I whispered, pulling him in a kiss. He returned my kiss immediately, his hands grabbed my waist tightly as he positioned himself in between my legs. "Join me." I whispered in between our kiss.
"Gladly." He whispered, lifting me in his arms. I eagerly wrapped my arms around his neck as he settled me in the bathtub and joined me. My head rested against his torso as we relished our embrace.
After taking our time, we changed into our formal attires. He wore a charcoal gray suit while I changed into navy blue suit-skirt.
As we reached the living room, we were greeted by concerned looking, Emily, Alex, mom and even Nathan.
"Sis." Alex called, rushing towards me and enveloping me in his arms. "Nathan told us what happened. Are you okay ?" He asked, checking for any signs of wounds.
"I am fine." I answered, my gaze flickering between Alex and all others. "Lucas protected me." I added gently. He cast a sidelong gaze at me, smiling softly.
Emily and mom hugged me and Lucas by turns, attempting to calm themselves down.
"I haven't seen him so angry in my life." Nathan said, embracing me. "I am glad, you're okay."
We settled down around the table, enjoying our breakfast. Once we were done, a car pulled over in the parking lot.
"It must be Mr.Reed." Nathan said. Lucas glanced at him with a confused expression. Sensing it, Nathan informed him, "Yesterday night he called me because he knew, you would be so angry to listen at that moment. I told him to talk to you in the morning." Lucas nodded.
Lucas rose up and walked towards the door, motioning the guards to let him in.
"Mr.Reed."
"Lucas."
"Please have a seat." Lucas said, guiding him to the sofa, followed by Nathan and me.
"Lucas, Amelia, I am so ashamed of what Axel did. I sincerely apologize on his behalf." He gazed at us, his eyes were filled with guilt and shame. "Officers told me about the situation. They were taking him to the hospital but I urged them to let me take him home. Currently he is unconscious." I cast a covert glance at Lucas, to find his eyes burning with rage.
"I am thankful you didn't kill him for what he dared to do, because I certainly would have if it was my wife or daughter. He ruined the respect my father and I built over the years. But he is still my son, for good or bad. And I am here to make a request."
"What is it, Mr. Reed ?" Lucas sternly asked.
"Don't press charges against him, Lucas." Mr. Reed requested. But that was it, Lucas lost it.
"Are you serious, Mr. Reed ?" He questioned, jerking up from his seat.
"I know, I am asking for too much but please, Lucas. It will ruin us. He is a stupid brat, but his entire future will be ruined."
"He is not a child." Lucas retorted, a little to aggressively for his usual calm aura. "Do you really think, I will let him go for what he tried to do to my wife. Would you have let him go ?" Mr. Reed sighed heavily, his head hung low.
"I wouldn't have son. But I assure you if he did any such thing ever again, I would myself send him to prison." He stated, his gaze darted between Lucas and me.
"I won't be able to bear the humiliation, son." Mr. Reed mumbled. Lucas massaged his temple. I walked closer to him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"I won't press any charges against him, Mr.Reed." I whispered, Lucas's intense gaze met mine, before I shifted my attention on Mr. Reed.
"But I have two conditions. First, you'll keep you words. And second, I don't want him anywhere....I mean anywhere near me." I stated firmly.
"You are a good man Mr. Reed and Mrs. Reed is a good woman but I don't know if I can say the same for your son." I continued.
"I understand, Amelia and I assure you, you both that he wouldn't do any such thing ever again." He said, turning to Lucas. "Give him one more chance, Lucas." He requested. Lucas didn't for once avert his gaze from me, his fists were tightly clenched. I held his hand, silently relaying my message.
"Unlike my wife, I am not so forgiving Mr. Reed but as she said, you have been a good man and that is the only reason, I am letting your son go but I don't want him anywhere near my family." His anger was evident in his words. He nodded.
"Thank you. I should take my leave now." With a nod from Lucas, he left. Without uttering a word, Lucas went straight to his office. Nathan and I exchanged a look, knowing that he was very angry.
Upon reaching his study, I slowly opened the door, revealing him seated on his chair, with his eyes close. Angry creases impressed on his forehead.
"Come closer." He whispered, without opening his eyes. I moved closer to him and he immediately pulled me over his lap, burying his face in the crook of my neck.
"Why did you let him go ? Did you forgive him just like that ?"
"I can never forgive him. Not in this life but I did it for Mr. and Mrs. Reed. They are good people, they deserve a chance." He gazed at me intently. "I can never forgive him because though you saved me but he has scarred me for life. He has brought out a vulnerable part of me to the surface, where I might feel skeptical working with men, where I would feel too weak to fight for myself. And I can never forgive him for that." Tears welled up my eyes.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry." He apologized. I hugged his masculine figure and he held me tightly.
"Don't let his actions make you feel weak because you are so strong that is the sole reason, he had to stoop so low to get you." He said, placing a kiss on my forhead. I smiled faintly, hugging him again, feeling like the luckiest woman to have him.
