The girl felt ecstatic and full of life. He was right, she was acting weird, almost like a child setting a deadline for their relationship like that. But can you blame her? The girl was scared for her life. Everything was new to her, she thought she wouldn't be ready for an actual relationship. She could have never imagined ever being in a relationship let alone loving someone and on top of that with her feelings being returned.
By setting a deadline she would know exactly when this illusion of happiness would pass and end. In exactly two weeks.
The girl was afraid that if she stayed with him a little longer, she would start fearing death.
That she would get too drunk. She just wanted to get a taste, know how it actually feels like without having to commit and fear rejection.
And she was scared of hurting him if she stayed with him too long.
After all she loved him too, she loved him so much and hearing him declare his love for her so often set her heart on fire.
Where was the anxiousness? The panic? And fear?
She never felt this kind of thing before.
The feeling of freedom and lightweight whenever she could feel his love.
Maybe she was addicted. She wanted to feel this type of happiness forever, forget her pain and medications.
And maybe feel normal for once while she was at it.
That's why she was beyond shocked when she went to knock on the old lady's door to finally pay off her rent that was long overdue.
Embarrassment was written across her face and she tightly held the bundle of money in her shaking hands.
"I'm here to pay." Ji managed to look into the other's eyes timidly, still shameful.
"What? What do you mean pay? It's all settled!"
The landlady immediately brightened up upon seeing the young girl, "Didn't you notice? I switched on your electricity and warm water a long while ago."
The girl's eyes widened at realization. She was right, Ji was able to enjoy a decent life unconsciously and without gratitude. With electricity and heating and warmth and water. How couldn't she notice?
"But...I didn't—" She was confused.
"An anonymous donator did. Don't you worry."
The adult smiled warmly, her hand on top of the younger one's in a caring manner, "I shouldn't have been so harsh on you, I know your situation. Please forgive me."
The girl quickly shook her head, "No, no it's me. I should be the one apologizing. Thank you so much for everything."
She went home with a hurting head that day, a bad feeling in her gut. She wasn't dense.
