As August took me to her church I turned on the radio and swayed to pretty young thing. August started singing her heart out and I smiled so hard my cheeks were burning. The day was perfect and heart warming. We passed by children playing and Adults dancing. August shook her head. "tsk, tsk, tsk. The Lord ain't approving of such behavior. They should be at church." she said. I chuckled and said,
"August, it ain't no different from way back home."
When we arrived to church Reverend John started preaching. All around, folk were whispering about how short my dress was. My dress reached pass my knees and it wasn't short at all. I nudged August and she eyed me and whispered, "July, ignore them. God don't like ugly and he sho' don't like 'em speaking about the pertty." I smiled and kept my head up.
