All the freshmen gathered together in the auditorium for the orientation. Hinata took a seat next to Yamaguchi and his friend, Tsukishima. Yamaguchi introduced the two, and Hinata was disappointed by the fact that Tsukishima ignored his attempt to talk to him.
"Don't take it personally; he does this all the time," Yamaguchi told Hinata.
Hinata nodded and glanced towards Tsukishima, and the person sitting next to him caught his eye.
"Who is that?" he asked.
"That's Tsukki's roommate. I don't know him, though."
Hinata looked at him; he had dark hair and was slightly tanned. He also had these deep blue eyes. Kageyama felt eyes on him, and he turned towards Hinata, who looked away quickly as if he wasn't staring.
Everyone turned their attention towards the stage as the lights dimmed and the dean of the school stepped onto the stage and began speaking. Hinata tuned him out and looked around, trying to see if he knew anyone. He was out of luck, though.
Hinata removed the thought from his mind and began to focus on volleyball. The team tryouts were tomorrow, and he was ready. That had been the main reason he wanted to go to university there—the amazing volleyball team with plenty of players that he idolized.
Kageyama wasn't really focused on whatever the dean had to say. His attention was directed to the short, orange-haired boy sitting two seats over from him. Kageyama had caught him staring at him, which was odd. He seemed to not be able to sit still in his seat. He kept bouncing up and down, as if he were anticipating something great to happen.
Kageyama directed his attention towards the front of the room again. He didn't have to pay any mind to some random person staring at him; it's not a lie; it had a large impact on him. What really bothered Kageyama was his constant movement. He couldn't sit still in his seat like a toddler, and Kageyama chose to ignore it to the best of his abilities.
When the speech was over, everyone shuffled out of the room, and it was about dinner time. Everyone was meeting with friends and going out to dinner, but Kageyama just wanted to relax in his dorm with some insan ramen or something else.
Hinata was standing with Yamaguchi and Tsukishima.
"Tsukki, let's go out to dinner together; invite your roommate too."
"Hard pass I'm tired," Tsukishima said, turning away.
"Please Tsukki?" Yamaguchi pleaded.
"Fine," Tsukishima grumbled," but you have to ask him."
Yamuguchi approached Kageyama and gave him a warm smile. "Hi I am Yamaguchi, a friend of Tsukki's. Do you want to come out to dinner with us?"
"No thanks," Kageyama said, turning back around.
"Come on, have a little fun," Yamaguchi pushed.
Kageyama didn't want to sacrifice his evening to himself; he replied no once more before walking back to his dorm.
Yamaguchi went back to the group and told them that Kageyama had declined his offer.
"I knew he would," Tsukishima said.
Yamaguchi put that behind him, and they all picked a place to go out. Apparently, it was really popular among the university students because they saw many of the people that were at the orientation there.
Yamaguchi took a seat next to Tsukishima, and Hinata sat across from them. He chatted with Yamaguchi, just talking about anything, while Tsukishima sat back and took small sips of his water.
"Hey Tsukishima," Hinata said, trying to start a conversation with him.
"Yes?" he replied unamused.
"What are you majoring in?"
"Computer engineering."
"That's cool," Hinata said.
"Shut up, Pipsqueak," Tsukishima mumbled.
"Tsukki, don't bully him," Yamguchi scolded him.
"Whatever," he replied, sipping his water.
They ordered food and ate and talked, or mostly Hinata spoke. They paid and left.
On the way back to their dorm, Hinata asked something that caught Yamaguchi off guard.
"Are you and Tsukishima dating?"
"Oh no," Yamaguchi said, blushing furiously," we are just good friends."
Hinata felt embarrassed, asking, and the rest of the walk back was silent.
