6 months later...
Theo sat in a booth with Laila as they ordered food. He decided to take her out for lunch and Laila was free, given that her son was with her mother for the next two days, so she agreed.
They began to talk after they bumped into each other at the gas station one day, almost six months ago. Theo liked Laila and she liked him too and that lead to their relationship.
Their waitress walked to their table, “Hey, have you decided on what to get”. She asked sultry noticing Theo
It would be a lie if any had said Theo was unattractive because he wasn't. He was brownskin with small yet round eyes and slender big lips. 6ʼ4 in height and a deep bassed voice, he was very attractive.
“Yeah can I get—”, Theo and Laila realised they were talking in unison
Theo squinted his eyes at Laila, something he did when he was a bit irritated, “You gon' say what you want?”. He asked softly
Laila rolled her eyes noticing his squinted eyes, “No, go”
“I'll have the steak and mashed potatoes with mushroom sauce” Theo said
The waitress wrote his order down, “I'll be back with your order soon”. She said rolling her eyes at Laila and began to walk away
Just as Laila was about to call out for the waitress, Theo beat her to it and called for her, “C'mere”. The waitress blushed as she heard call for her and walked back to him moving a hips forcefully
“I know you seen my girl...”, He pointed to Laila
“Yet you didn't take her order, why?”. This made the waitress roll her eyes as she heard him say "my girl”
She forced a smile, “Sorry, I didn't notice you. What can I get you”. Laila rolled her eyes, “Listen girl, you seen me so don't lie and he's the one that don't want you so direct that attitude to him. I don't want you either but you wasn't tryna get me to notice you so miss me with that attitude”. Laila said making Theo smirk at her 'intolerant' attitude
The waitress blushed in embarrassment as people turned their heads towards their table.
Laila cleared her throat, “Now, I'll have the chicken curry with slices of ciabatta”. She waved the waitress off
The waitress walked off and Laila rolled her eyes noticing Theo smirking at her, “What?”
Theo shrugged, “Nun”. Laila's phone rang and she waves Theo off as she answered the video phone, it was her mother.
Laila smiled in the camera, “Hey ma”. She greeted
“Hey baby, someone wanted to check on you”. Her mother gave the phone to Laila's son, Elijah.
“Mama”, the three year old said smiling
“Hey mama's baby”. She gushed smiling at her son
Elijah pressed his hand on the phone, “I love you, ma ”. He smiled
Laila smiled, “I Iove you too, Eli”
Theo sat watching as she spoke to her son over then phone. She never mentioned her son to him in their six months of knowing each other.
“I go now”, Theo heard her son say over the phone before Laila ended the call.
“You got a son?”. Theo said squinting his eyes at Laila
Laila gasped lightly. She'd forgotten that she hadn't told him. Her reason was because she felt Theo would feel different towards her after she'd tell him but she was wrong.
Their food was set on the table and they were left alone once again with Theo tapping his foot impatiently waiting for an answer.
“Yes”, She sighed
Theo took a bite of his food, “Oh”. He said as he began to eat
Laila furrowed her eyebrows, “Oh?”. She frowned
He shrugged, “Oh”
“Whatʼs that supposed to mean”. She glared at him
He looked at her, “What I said”. He said
Laila chewed on her food, “Oh?”. She scoffed
He nodded his head, “Oh”. He said
Laila said nothing after that and they ate in silence.
Laila wanted to end what they had after this, if he couldn't accept her son, there was no point of a relationship.

Laila sat in Theoʼs car texting as he drove her home.
They hadn't said anything since the restaurant which was an hour ago.
Theo didn't know how to react and Laila decided to ignore him whether he spoke or not.
“So when were you gonna tell me that you have a son”, Theo looked over to her as he drove
Laila shrugged, “When I felt like it”. She said dryly
He squinted his eyes at her, “And when would you feel like it”. He scoffed
“When the time was right”. She rolled her eyes
“And when the hell was the time gonna be right?”. He raised his voice a little
Laila looked at him, “Uh uh. You ain't gon' talk to me like that when you won't accept my son. If you find him as a burden then we ain't got nun going on, Theodore. And I ain't finna go back and forth with a nigga like you neither will I neglect my son because you don't like him. No, that ain't happening”. She ranted
Theo rolled his eyes and he parked in her driveway, “I ain't even mean it like that”. He sighed
“Then how you'd mean it”. She glared at him
“Oh?”, she scoffed
He waved her off, “Laila, lemme 'lone with that”. He said calmly
She scoffed rolling her eyes, “I got my answer from that”, she got out his car and slammed the door
Theo got out his car closing his door, “Ay, don't slam my shit like that and I ain't done talking to you”. He grabbed her wrist making her back land against his car and he stood over her fuming
“Yo ass ain't even let me finish cause you steady tryna assume shit”, He raised his voice
She mugged him, “Don't fucking raise yo—”, He cut her off
“I'm gon' raise my fucking voice cause you don't listen!”, He said loudly
“Shit! I ain't know how to react but that don't mean I'm gon' react like them ain't shit niggas you been with”, he huffed
“I ain't got a problem with you having a kid, shit, he's yours not mine and I'd never make you choose between me or yo son. And you'd know that if you said something about you having a kid earlier”, he said
She knew she should've told him when they began to talk, she knew he was right about her child not being his responsibility so it made sense why he didn't have a problem.
He shook his head, “You gon' tell me when the time was right, it was right when we started what we got going on. When the fuck did you feel like telling me about it?!”. He shouted as she sighed wiping her tears
Laila sighed sniffling, “I don't know. I thought you didn't like kids.”
“You thought—”. He scoffed
“You didn't seem like you did”. She huffed raising her voice
Theo sighed. He never knew she perceived him as someone who didn't like kids. He never had a problem with kids or dating someone who had them neither did he think people thought of him as someone who didn't like kids.
“I ain't know that's what you thought. I'm sorry”, He wiped her tears with his thumb
She rolled her eyes, “Well now you kn—”, He cut her off
“That don't mean because that's how you perceived me that you were right, you weren't and you know that”, he started
“You don't get to think for me and get mad at me when you're wrong. It don't work like that and you know you're wrong for choosing to tell me when I ask. It should be something you know to tell me or anyone and don't depict me based on your insecurities, you wrong as hell for that. I ain't a mind reader, I'm not gonna automatically know you got a child and me reacting the way I did at the restaurant, that don't mean you gon' take it and run with it because all I said was, 'oh' ”. He lectured and she began to feel bad
She invalidated his feelings and assumed the worst because she'd been through it before and she knows better to not assume who someone is and she was wrong.
“I'm sorry”, she said as she felt like she was gonna cry again
He brought her in for a hug, “Stop crying, we cool ayt”, he wiped her tears
She smiled small, “Okay”
He kissed her forehead and rubbed her back.
“I gotchu”, He kissed her lips
She sighed, “I know”, she brought him in for a kiss
She broke the kiss, “You wanna stay over”. She smiled
He chuckled, “Fasho”, he picked her up making her giggle
He took her keys from her back pocket and unlocked her door walking in and locking the door.
He rubbed her ass, “Whatchu wanna do”. He asked
“We can watch a movie or...”, she trailed off
“We can make a movie”, he said kissing her
She nodded her head and he walked up to her room without breaking the kiss.
