it's been like 2 months?

..and it's been a good ten months since you last spoke to Callum?
oh good, we're already getting into that.
There's no beating around the bush with Florence Pugh — especially as for the first two months of Callum's hiatus in my life she sent him angry texts on my behalf ( alt, I never explicitly asked her too).
It's been ten months, twenty eight days, four hours and...thirty two minutes since the last time I saw Callum Turner — my supposed best friend since I was nineteen.

Callum's seeming termination of our friendship made the friend group I've relied on since I was nineteen just a little bit more awkward. Although nobody explicitly sided with one of us over the other — I watched as I had to congratulate my friends on new years on text when they were at his New Year's party only a ten minute walk away from my house. And the guest list to my birthday party's shorten slightly. There's no bad blood, it's just- awkward.
Florence is on my side ( if there is sides, which there isn't ) — she was equally as confused when my texts became unanswered, calls shortened significantly and then soon enough sent to voicemail. She got me wine drunk to subdue the pain of losing him, although not really but it felt like I had.

More upset , like looking at a stray photo booth photo of us that I find around my apartment on an odd Saturday afternoon could send me into a blubbering mess. But angry? With him? Never.

only until Sunday, he's gotta go back to work & don't need anything else distracting me .
Callum is going to do that well enough on his own. And speak of the devil, I look up as Drew sits back down in his seat, flickering my gaze up to meet his.
" hey, wanna shoot off in a minute?" he hums "thinking we could take one more stroll through Central Park before we head off to the airport." he suggests.
and I nod, before gesturing to the three quarter drunk cappuccino that it's in front of me. he makes a joke under his breath about how slowly I drink hot coffee ( I have a sensitive mouth).
" yeah, I was just texting Florence." I tell him turning off my phone and placing it face down on the table. He nods " oh yeah? about what?"
I shrug " well I'm going to grab a quick plane to London to give her a quick kiss," he laughs lowly at that " but mostly the film, a whole six months at a villa in sicily." I sit back slightly, a small smile turning on my lips.
Italy is beautiful. I've been on holiday before, never worked there. But always wanted to.
I notice him twitch, which makes my eyebrows furrows as I reach for my cup " what, you did a funny look?" I ask and he leans in slightly.
" it's just, you and Callum-" he starts and my face drops slightly, this again?
" we didn't date." I state firmly (once again) , between Drew now and the world for the last eight years I have had to claim that me and Calum have never dated, never kissed, never slept with one another ( but slept beside one another? we had done that many times)
And tell them that were indeed just best friends ( of course no one has ever believed me even now). There's videos on YouTube and TikTok highlighting timeline of said fictitious relationship, including our apparent tumultuous breakup.
It's also didn't help when two months into mine and Drews' relationship that Callum bailed on me. Which sent the British press and Callum Turner fans into rabid animals looking for something that indicated a break up, and a vicious one at that. People turned on me, stating I broke his heart — which with zero answered texts, I even drew myself to believe but still couldn't understand why.
Drew still looks at me oddly, I take one hand off my cup and instead take his. Her fingers slipping together as I shake my head.
" you have nothing to worry about, we haven't even spoken to one another in ten months." I tell him.
ten months, twenty eight days, four hours and thirty five minutes — but who's counting?
