I looked around, taking in the new area I suddenly woke up to.
"..W-Where the hell am I..", I said as I rubbed my exhausted eyes. It hurt to just speak.
I tried to stand up, but to no avail. Each time I attempted to I just fell back on my ass. I was mad at my own body right now.
When I tried to think about how I got here, my memory was blurred. This was like those fanfics I read where the reader got pulled into a fictional universe.
"Alright legs, whether you like it or not, i'm standing up! You can't stop me." I said out loud to myself. I tried to stand up yet once again, putting all my might into it.
In the midst of my struggling, the trembling in my legs just.. stopped? I could finally stand up right. About time.
I stood up straight, dusting any dirt from the ground off my clothes, which were all a little ripped. Nothing I can't fix, right?
I started walking through the forest, looking for any sign of civilization, or something. I don't want to be in a forest alone. That's literally just begging to— "AAA!!" I screamed as something slammed into my side.
Did someone just run into me?!
I looked down to see what it was. A child..?
The little girl seemed shocked as well, and looked up to me. She was— crying?
Then my older sibling instincts kicked in.
I kneeled down to her level and had a worried look on my face. "Hey, little girl.. what's wrong?"
She was hesitant at first, not knowing if she should trust me. "My mommy said not to talk to strangers.." she said with teary eyes and a shaken voice. I smiled.
"Hey, my mom told me that too when I was younger. You can trust me though, I promise. I just want to help, if I can." I came off as gentle. This girl seemed genuinely scared of something.
She was quiet for a second, but she ran over to my chest, and was sort of clinging onto it. "T-This.. weird man is following me!.." She stammered.
I knew it, she was scared. And she had a good reason to be as well. I cleared my throat, getting ready to speak again.
"Alright sweetie.. can you tell me where he is?" I said as I put a comforting hand on her head.
She nodded and pointed to the darkness of the forest. I trained my eyes in that direction. I didn't see anything?
I spoke again, still keeping my eyes on that part of the forest. "Are you su—"
But then I gasped as two rough hands landed on my shoulders from behind me.
"Got you now, little girl.." Spoke a deep, unsettling voice. I knew immediately this was the man the little girl told me about.
"..Oh hell no." I let go of the little girl in my grasp and put her off to the side. He tried to reach for her but I quickly stood up and grabbed him by the wrist.
"Where do you think you're going, you creep?" I said as I yanked him towards me. He seemed shocked as if he forgot I was there within a matter of seconds. Was this man that idiotic?
When my hold on his wrist tightened, I heard a familiar sound coming from the action.
(SNAP)
Holy shit. What was that?
The man I had a strong hold on screamed in agony.
"MY WRIST!! YOU BROKE MY WRIST, YOU FREAK—!!" He shouted at me. He tried to get his wrist out of my hold, but he failed.
I wondered when I got a sudden surge of strength. I swear, I had the strength of a twig before. How did I have the muscle ability of a fucking bodybuilder now?
I decided to take advantage of the situation. "Tell me, creep. What were you trying to do with this girl?" I said in a low voice. Wow, this sudden strength really upped my confidence.
He froze, looking at me with a frightened look. "I wasn't doing anything! Now let me go—" He said, but the little girl interrupted.
"No! You tried to steal me and hurt me!" She screamed, tears spilling from her eyes at an alarming rate.
The man grit his teeth in anger. "You brat—!" He started.
I snatched his other wrist, and his attention went to me immediately. "You didn't do anything, you say?.."
(SNAP)
Another wrist, broken. I was impressed with my physical ability right now. I felt invincible as hell.
He screamed in pain for a second time. He shot a kick up at me but I let go of one of his wrists, just for the now free hand to grab his leg instead.
I lifted his leg up higher than his flexibility could handle, as he groaned in pain.
"You really like the feeling of broken bones, don't you?" I asked him, but I wasn't expecting an answer, as his eyes widened.
I was about to break his leg as well, before the little girl ran up to me and hugged my own leg.
She gave me a look that was almost guilty. "W-Wait— please, wait.." She whispered up to me.
I looked at her and back at the man that had tears in his eyes. I sighed, and just threw him over my shoulder with ease, causing him to yelp.
"Fine, but we're turning him in." I paused.
"Hey kid, is there any civilization nearby? Like a village, city, anything?" I looked down at her. The man was about to speak but my grip on him tightened, shutting him up for good.
She nodded. Her flood of tears slowing down as well. "There is a village I live in with my mommy.."
People! My worries of starving to death are over!
I looked down at her. "Can you please show me the way?"
She nodded again, and took my open hand in order to guide me to it. I'm assuming she was on the way to the village until she ran into me, if she knew the directions the whole time.
As I followed her, I had a few questions. "..Hey, girl, may I know your name? ..I just don't want to call you 'kid' the whole time."
She looked at me and then laughed a little. "..My name is Kid though!" She smiled up at me brightly.
..My brain stopped for a second. I had to process that. Who the hell names their child that?...
Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that red haired dude for a minute there.
"Well, I guess i'll keep calling you Kid then, Kid." I smiled at her, and she smiled back. Her mood brightened ever since I helped her with this ass of a man, and I was glad.

After a while of walking, we finally got out of this annoying forest. I sighed in relief. If I was in there any longer I would've gone insane—
Kid pointed to the village nearby to us.
I'm actually going to cry, I have never been happier to know about the existence of strangers. It felt like the weight of an old ass man was just lifted off my shoulders.
..Oh wait there was a man on my shoulders..
I then was getting dragged by the little girl, and she was happy to see her home.
After a lot of dragging, we arrived at the village. Kid's mother was running around like a distressed chicken. Kid shouted to her mother to get her attention, as she let go of my hand and started running to her.
"Mommy! Mommy!" Kid yelled and had a bright smile on her face as she ran to her. The mothers head basically snapped in the direction of the high voice.
She stood there frozen, but her eyes widened and tears spilled even faster when she realized it was her child calling to her.
"Kid! My baby!!" She cried out and ran towards her daughter. When they were close enough together, she scooped up Kid in her arms and held her close.
Kid giggled at the affection she was receiving from her mother. "Mommy! They helped me!" Kid pointed to me with a smile plastered on her face.
I froze from the stares the villagers were giving me. I wasn't used to this many eyes on me. I then made eye contact with the woman staring at me, and I waved awkwardly.
The happy mother shed tears and walked over to me. I stood there, not knowing what to do as she approached me.
"Thank you so much! Is there anything I can do to repay you?" She was practically shouting at me. Hurt my ears a little, but I didn't mind. At least I pretended not to..
I waved both of my hands in the air. "No, that's not necessary! I just did what any decent human being would do." I smiled at the woman with the girl in her arms.
..Money doesn't sound bad though.. NO! GO, BAD THOUGHTS!
She then wiped her tears and dazed off. She looked lost in thought. "Wait a minute, i've never seen you before. What's your name?" She asked me.
I then remembered that names don't come to people naturally. "I'm (Name)! And yeah, i'm actually not from around here. God I miss my phone.." I muttered the last part.
The woman nodded when I told her my name, but then she stared at me, confused. "Pardon, what is a... phone exactly, if you don't mind me asking?"
That's the point in time where I froze. They don't know what a phone is? What? How? Wait. I overloaded my brain with questions I couldn't answer myself. I then paused in realization.
Oh no. NO! Wait. I don't know for sure yet. I can't make assumptions.. besides that stuff isn't even possible.. right? I mean it would make sense why I ended up stranded in a forest but— damnit! Just ask the question, (Name)!
"I'm just wondering. What do you people use as communication from far distances? Like, to talk to others when you can't reach them?" I sweat-dropped, nervously. I hoped they didn't answer what I think they would answer with.
"Oh, well we use transponder snails of course! I'm surprised you didn't already know?" She answered. That confirmed my worries.
"OH SHI—" I then slapped my hand over my mouth. The man on my shoulder was startled from my second long outburst.
I forgot he even existed.
I then stood there in silence. I also started sweating.
The woman noticed and started to worry for me. "Darling?.. Are you okay?—" She asked, but I quickly interrupted.
"I'm fine—! I just.. need a moment!.." I told her. I took the man off my shoulder, and dropped him on the ground harshly. He grunted in pain, as if he already wasn't in it.
"..This is the man that chased Kid off.. please chain him up.. and.. i'll be right back." I told her, and she gasped, looking down at him.
"This man again?! How did he escape jail?!—" She yelled, recognizing him immediately, as anger clouded her expression.
I took this as the opportunity to sprint off, hearing their voices fade in the distance. I went and sat behind a wall when I was far enough to not draw attention to myself.
"..I'm in One Piece.. no i'm not! I'm dreaming!" I took deep breaths. "This isn't possible, though?! This shit only happens in the stories I read—!"
I hit my head to try and check if this was just a really vivid dream. I in fact did not wake up. I was just edging closer to making myself unconscious, actually.
It was hard trying to calm myself. "Don't freak out, (Name)! It's just some trippy, mere universe traveling, right?!.." Yes, I was trying to gaslight myself. Didn't work.
"..Kill me already, this is too much!!" I ranted. Can you blame me though? I'm literally in an anime right now, which should be impossible..
I started to question how i'll even live normally in this world. Like sure, I could just relax at this island, since the people seem nice. But then again, anything could happen. This is a world full of war, and pain.
I literally cried so much while watching the series, it was unbearable. I definitely don't want to relive that in person!
(After a while of (Name) accepting their unusual fate)
Sighing, I stood up from the area I freaked out in. I walked back to the village I was so happy to see. I noticed that the man was gone when I returned, while Kid was waiting for me. Her smile grew when she saw I was back, and she ran up to me and hugged me like we've been best friends for decades.
"(Name)! You were gone for a while!" She pouted a little. It seems she missed me.
Damnit! I'm already getting attached and I just got here.
"Yeah, i'm back, Kid. What happened to the creep from earlier?" I questioned. I hope he got put in jail.
Kid put a finger to her chin, and then remembered what had happened. "My mommy was super mad! She turned him in after she spoke to him! She told me to cover my ears though, so I don't know what she said..." Kid frowned at not being included.
I laughed a little. It was clear the mother was ruining that man's life with words, but didn't want her child to hear, knowing she isn't ready for that stuff yet.
"Well, she probably had a good reason to ask that of you. Also, where is your mother at? I would like to speak with her." I asked Kid. The little girl nodded and started to guide me to her mother.
"Mommy, (Name) wants to speak with you." She tugged at her mother's clothing. Her mom turned to her and looked back up to me and nodded.
"What is it you would like to talk about, (Name)? Are you okay? Do you need anything?" She asked me. I smiled at how kind she was.
"So, you know how I said I wasn't from around here, right? I actually don't have anywhere to go so—" Before I could finish my request, I was interrupted.
"Oh, of course you can live with us! It would only be fair, since you saved Kid!" The woman said without hesitation.
...
...I paused, staring in shock. "...Really?" I questioned. Was it normal to accept someone you just met into your home for free? Or was she really just that nice?
"Yes, really! You will have to help around the house, of course. And do village chores, but that's only expected." She informed me. Well, that was reasonable.
I smiled and nodded. People back in my world wouldn't do this, like at all. They would at least need to know the person they offered to live with them very well to do something like that.
"Thank you so much! Uh..." I didn't know her name yet, actually. I've just been thinking of her as kids' mother or woman.
"Oh! My name is Belle." She replied as she smiled sweetly at me. Kid also grinned at me and had eyes full of excitement.
"Yay! I have a sibling now!" She exclaimed, very happily.
I didn't know where it said I was Kids sibling now, but I wasn't complaining. She probably makes an awesome little sister to have.
"Oh, let me show you around the village now and introduce you! We can't have everyone thinking you're just a stranger now, can we?" Belle told me. I nodded, while Kid went to hold my hand.
This place wasn't my home back where I'm from, but it'll do until I find a way to leave. I wonder how my parents are doing... my brother too.
