naeun had forgotten about junhyeon's confession. too much had been going on with gunwook, and it was all she could think about.
junhyeon greets her once she steps foot into the classroom. "good morning, naeun! you look so pretty today, but it's so cold outside, and you only showed up in a sweater.. you're not cold!?" he takes a closer look, noticing the sweater is too large for her.
he sees her name isn't printed on it. but
it's park gunwook's. "wait...it's gunwook's sweater, though?" he turns his head, confused.
he was ecstatic at first. he loved seeing her every morning. it was only until he realized that she wasn't wearing her own uniform sweater. his smile dropped, and he felt envious of gunwook in that instant.
"yeah, i forgot to get my sweater, so gunwook let me borrow his for the day." naeun was soft-spoken. she hoped junhyeon wouldn't take it seriously.
junhyeon turns around facing gunwook, he side eyes him and proceeds to scribble into his book for the rest of class. gunwook was confused but shrugged it off. he could sense junhyeon's jealousy.
naeun felt horrible. she was planning on rejecting him after class, too, but she was hesitant. junhyeon was fun to be around, but she had no intentions of becoming anything more than friends.

the lunch bell rings, naeun and gunwook walk to the cafeteria together in silence. gunwook felt nervous - he knew her all his life, but yet he was nervous just walking by her side. this only made him even more sure about his feelings for her.
gunwook is seriously in love with naeun.
seunghwan and hyejin greet them both, the new friendgroup is forming. naeun addresses the junhyeon situation to them as they're seated. she needed advice.
"guys, i don't know what to do with junhyeon. i want to tell him that i can't reciprocate how he feels, but i think i already made him upset this morning. i just need a more...valid reason to close things off." she sighs.
"what did you do to upset him?" seunghwan and hyejin exchange concerned faces.
"well, i'm wearing gunwook's sweater, and i don't think junhyeon liked that very much." naeun uttered, turning to look at gunwook.
seunghwan and hyejin start giggling as they're thinking the exact same thing the two love birds sitting across from them have yet to understand that they've found their perfect match.
"uhh, i gave her my sweater because she was dumb and left hers at my house." gunwook explains as he shakes his head. he knew what seunghwan and hyejin were implying with the flirty giggles.
he didn't want them to get the wrong idea. in other words, he didn't want them to find out about his crush on naeun.
"hold on, she left her sweater at your house!?" seunghwan's jaw dropped, and him and hyejin started giggling even louder.
"it was a family dinner! you guys are so weird. argh." naeun scolds as she forehead flicks the couple. gunwook starts fake coughing in his elbow to stop himself from laughing.
"just tell junhyeon to find a new girl! tell him you're dating gunwook and use it as an excuse! it's quite believable, too." seunghwan teases as she raises her eyebrows up and down.
naeun and gunwook stare at each other and begin to laugh nervously. "me and gunwook together is like an atomic bomb waiting to explode."
gunwook snickers, "naeun herself is an atomic bomb that already exploded." gunwook shoots back at her with a smug look on his face.
seunghwan and hyejin have not stopped giggling. they start whispering into each other's ears. once again, gunwook and naeun look at each other confused.
what were they talking about?
"uhmm, naeun! where's your lunch? hyejin questions, peeking at gunwook and back to naeun.
"i left my wallet at his house too..." she sighs, slapping her forehead, hoping that they won't get the wrong idea again.
"mmm. interesting. gunwook, you should buy naeun lunch!" seunghwan adds as he nudges gunwook teasingly with his elbow.
"fine. naeun, what do you want to eat?" he sarcastically grins, pulling out his wallet and dropping seunghwan a noticeable stink eye.
"i don't know... i'm not too hungry, though. i already had breakfast. so sit back down." naeun grabs his arm, trying to get him to stay.
"i'm sick of you." he removes her grip (gently, of course) as he gets up to buy her something to eat - disregarding what she said anyway.
he comes back with chocolate milk and her favourite melon bread. the order was engraved in his head. he knew it by heart. naeun is sentimental. she enjoys anything related to her childhood, hence, her love for melon bread.
naeun's mouth was agape. she didn't know what to say - he really knows what she likes. it was obvious he was all about her. "thanks, gunwook!"
he doesn't respond. he just gazes at her happy state. gunwook was happy, too. he didn't realize that seunghwan and hyejin were silently shipping the two even harder.

after class, naeun makes her way to junhyeon's locker. she waits diligently, as she's practicing what to say in her head. as she looks around, she spots junhyeon making his way through the crowd. they make eye contact for a split second.
junhyeon greets her, "hello naeunnn!" he waves at her aggressively as he smiles wide. naeun waves back, "hi, junhyeon."
junhyeon opens up his locker, putting his books inside, waiting for her to start the conversation. naeun starts, "you know how you confessed to me yesterday?... i can't return the feelings, junhyeon."
junhyeon still smiles, "i understand, but can i ask you why, though?" he didn't feel sad at all. he was happy with just being friends with her. it was enough for him.
before naeun could answer, gunwook slides out from behind her, holding her hand. "naeun and i are dating. i'm sorry." gunwook answers before she could muster up her response.
naeun's jaw dropped, and she herself was just as surprised as junhyeon. "junhyeon, i know tons of people have crushes on you, i'm sorry, i can't be the one." naeun nervously frowns.
"i knew never had a chance to begin with, i wanted to tell you, just to get it off my chest. i also have to tell you that i'm gonna become an idol! so when i debut, you better come to my shows, okay?" junhyeon beams reassuring her that he'll be fine.
naeun nods, "i promise! gunwook, and i will be supporting your debut a ton! are you moving schools?" gunwook also smiles, giving him a thumbs up.
junhyeon shakes his head no, "i'm not moving schools, we'll still be seat-mates!" he says, patting naeun's head. he waves them bye and exits the hall.
naeun elbowed gunwook in the chest. "you shocked me! why are you stalking me? and more importantly, why did you tell him that?" she whisper-yells.
"seunghwan told me to do it! and you should thank me. i did it for you!" gunwook frowns, scolding her.
she sighs, "it's okay, it's over now. i'm glad he's fulfilling his dream of being an idol, though." naeun feels proud, she's also relieved that she got everything out of the way.
gunwook nods, patting her back. "let's go home now, you big whiney baby." naeun scoffs, removing his hand off her. "we are not dating."
he shrugs, "junhyeon's not moving schools. he's gonna know we lied about the relationship if you keep being incompetent, you know."
naeun side eyes him, "look at the mess you caused. now we actually have to pretend... like we're...dating?" she begins to frown as the realization hits her.
"i blame seunghwan." he disapproves, shaking his head. "i need to beat him up for this." naeun groans.
