RULES OF WARFARE IN WORLD WAR 2/WAR OF WORLDS:
1. Distinction: Parties to a conflict must distinguish between combatants and non-combatants. Deliberately targeting civilians or civilian objects is prohibited. Only military personnel and military targets should be engaged.
2. Protection of Prisoners of War: Captured enemy combatants, known as prisoners of war (POWs), must be treated humanely and in accordance with international law. They should be provided with appropriate living conditions, medical care, and protection from violence or mistreatment.
3. Protection of Civilians: Measures must be taken to minimize harm to civilians and protect them from the effects of hostilities. Civilian infrastructure, such as hospitals, schools, and cultural heritage sites, should be spared from intentional attack.
4. Prohibition of Torture and Inhumane Treatment: Torture, cruel treatment, and degrading punishment are strictly prohibited. The humane treatment of all individuals, including captured combatants, detainees, and civilians, must be ensured.
5. Respect for Humanitarian Workers: Individuals engaged in providing humanitarian aid, such as medical personnel, must be protected and allowed to carry out their duties without interference.
