Just as Mason had suggested, Sydney attended the after-school lacrosse practice, though not for the reason her best friend assumed. Once again, Stiles was her only ride home, so she did not exactly have a choice whether she wanted to attend the practice or not.

She didn't mind, however. The weather had warmed up drastically, so she didn't have people huddling into her for warmth. She sat beside Mason and Violet, who were both intent on watching the practice- their gazes glued to Garrett as he rounded himself up for the practice that was due to start any minute. Sydney rolled her eyes at their behavior- both of them basically had drool falling from their parted lips. No matter how many times her best friend protested it, she knew that Mason still had a thing for Garrett.

She soon found her knee bouncing on the empty bleacher below her, itching for the practice to begin and be over with so that she could head home and watch horrible movies about werewolves on Netflix and make fun of them all night long. Though Mason seemed to take her restlessness the wrong way, as he nudged her shoulder and cocked in eyebrow in a teasing way.

"You excited to see your new love interest?" He questioned, causing her to shove an elbow into his side harshly. Though he held his side with his jaw clenched, the pathetic injury didn't stop Mason from his teasing remarks. He continued to tease her about her, so-called, "blooming love interest" until Coach Finstock blew his whistle for practice to begin. He shot Mason a look that basically said "shut your mouth or I will beat you with a lacrosse stick" as her friend continued to chatter on loudly.

"Yes! Hit 'em, Liam!" Mason shouted and thew his hands in the air as Liam continued to materialize the field. The boy acted as if he owned the whole field, nodding his head towards his best friend and wearing a smug, overly-confident look on his face that was clearly visible even through the helmet he wore over his head. His gaze rested on Sydney for a moment, a small smirk forming at the corners of his mouth. Coach blew his whistle and the team began running laps around the field, forcing Liam to tear his gaze from hers and begin racing the other players.

"Does he feel the need to show off or something?" Sydney questioned, glancing at Mason. "He seems a bit too cocky for my liking."

"He's a transfer student," Mason defended his best friend quickly. "Of course he feels the need to impress the others. It comes natural for him."

Sydney focused back on the practice just in time to see Liam bolt past Scott and finish several meters in front of him, his breathing labored as if he hadn't just ran three laps at full speed. The rest of the team gradually crossed the line, earning several disgusted comments from Coach about how pathetic and useless they were. She couldn't help but laugh at Coach's attitude. Sure, he was a little hard on the team, but it was amusing watching him make fun of the players. Sydney buried her face into her hands, groaning loudly as Stiles literally stumbled over the line in last place, his whole body heaving and his heart was racing as he fell to the ground. Scott quickly helped him up, wrapping his arm around his friend's shoulder as the two of them glared in Liam's direction.

"What is he? Is he like a were-cheetah? Does that even exist?" Stiles rambled on as he stared at the freshman, gasping for air between every other word. Sydney rolled her eyes at her brother's rant, feeling the strong wave of jealously radiating off of his sweaty body.

Scott merely shrugged, shooting a quick glance at Liam, who was flat to the ground, busy doing perfectly formed push-ups. "Maybe he is just that good."

"Take me somewhere," Stiles sighed, his eyes narrowing and gagging slightly. "I'm going to puke."

Sydney scrunched her nose in disgust, resisting the urge to run out and help her pathetic brother rid of his nausea.

"What?" Mason's voice caused her to look over at him. Her best friend was staring at her as if she had just grown a second head, more than likely due to the look of disgust that was twisted on to her face.

"Nothing," she said quickly, licking her lips. "It's just, Stiles doesn't look so good."

She glanced back over at her brother, who was now leaning over a trashcan and puking his guts out. She sighed and rolled her eyes, focusing back on the practice as it continued on. Some random player got in the goal and the team lined up halfway across the field. By this time, Stiles had rejoined the team, wiping his mouth on the back of his gloved hand and standing at the front of the line. Feeling second-hand nervousness from her brother, Sydney found herself chewing on her fingernails, hoping to herself that Stiles wouldn't make a fool of himself. Coach blew his whistle once and Stiles attempted to scoop the ball into the net of his lacrosse stick, failing miserably and eventually grabbing it and putting it inside the net himself. Sydney felt a twinge of pity for her brother, wishing that she could somehow make him a better lacrosse player- as that was all he ever dreamed about. Well, that and ending up with Lydia Martin after being in love with her since first grade. A smile stretched across her face as Stiles ran towards the goal with perfect form, the grip on his stick firm as he took a perfectly-aimed shot at the goal. Though her smile quickly twisted into a frown when it was easily caught by the goalie without even having to move his stick. The team laughed again, causing Sydney to growl lowly under her breath.

"Liam, you're up!" Coach shouted loudly, and Liam stepped forward. He easily slid the ball into his net, a smirk plastered onto his face as he twisted the stick around in his hands. He approached the goal fast, swinging the stick and shooting the ball straight into the corner of the goal before the goalie could even register what was happening. The whole team erupted into cheers, while Sydney had to force her jaw not to fall open in a silent gape. She was impressed by his skill, though she couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealously for her brother.

Scott was up next, and Sydney found herself tapping her foot nervously. Now was his chance to prove himself as captain to the freshman, to hold his reputation. Scott's skills on the field were more than satisfactory- but that was mostly due to his werewolf abilities. Now Liam- Liam had none of that. He was simply human, and he was just that good.

Scott shot the ball at the goal, and Sydney's face immediately fell into her hands as the ball flew into the post, bouncing off as the team hooted with laughter. "No, Scott..." She groaned loudly as Mason patted her on the back with a laugh.

"Nice, McCall!" Garrett said sarcastically, a smug grin twisting at his mouth. Sydney glared at the side of his head, wishing that looks could kill, or even something as simple as inflict pain. Sure, the guy was one of her best friends, but sometimes she wanted to beat the living crap out of him.

"Hey, Garrett!" Stiles called, an eyebrow cocked. "Shut up!"

"McCall and Stilinski, you're covering goal for two on ones today," Coach said and blew his whistle once more. Stiles and Scott exchanged a look that only the two of them could wear before taking their position at the goal.

Garrett stepped up and scooped up a ball, taking off at a sprint towards the two boys. He obviously thought getting past them was going to be easy, but as he tried to get passed Scott, Scott slammed into his shoulder and Garrett fell to the ground. Sydney smiled and clapped her hands together, a feeling of warmth running through her veins.

"That's my boys!" Coach cheered happily, pumping a fist before turning to face the small crowd. "Those two are like sons to me."

Another boy had a go, but experienced the same results as Scott slammed him to the ground. The whole team groaned loudly, though Sydney, Kira and Malia- who sat not too far away from her- cheered them on loudly.

Several more boys attempted the two on ones, though none of them made it as far as ten steps before Scott and Stiles slammed him to the ground. Coach made several more remarks about the two of them, clearly proud of the progress they were making.

Sydney felt her heartbeat quicken as Liam stepped up to have a go. He and Scott shared prolonged eye contact before he scooped up a ball and began running down the field. Her hands found their way to her mouth once more, chewing on her fingernails as she watched Liam maneuver his way down the field. Stiles stepped up but Liam easily slid past him without any problems. Though Scott wasn't giving up so easily. As he approached Liam, the freshman ducked and spun around, forcefully launching the ball into the goal.

A loud noise that sounded like a groan fell from Sydney's lips, though she was unsure why she was booing for the boy when she also wanted to cheer him on.

"That was luck!" A familiar voice called, and Sydney slowly closed her eyes, letting out an exaggerated sigh as she turned towards Malia.

"Don't get involved," she murmured quietly, hoping that the stubborn werecoyote would listen to someone for once.

Though Malia looked quite confident, standing up in the bleachers with her hands cupping her mouth, "Do over!"

"Sweetheart, this is practice. There are no do overs," Coach stated flatly, waving her off with his hand.

Malia frowned and crossed her arms over her chest stubbornly, "Ten bucks on Scott and Stiles!"

Coach whipped around, a look of satisfaction spreading across his face as he clapped his hands, "I'll take that action!" He pointed towards Liam, who was exchanging a few words with some players at the back of the line. "Liam, get back out there!"

Liam smirked confidently and walked to the front, grabbing another ball in his net. Sydney grasped her hands together, holding her breath in anticipation. She wanted Scott and Stiles to show the freshman who was boss, but she also admired Liam's skill and wanted him have a little glory. She had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach; something was telling her things were not about to end well.

Liam shot forward and immediately twisted past Stiles. Scott headed straight towards him, his eyebrows furrowed in more concentration and determination that she had ever seen before. He slammed so hard into the freshman that Liam flipped into the air, landing hard on the ground. The loud crack of breaking bone caused Sydney to flinch, and she shot up in her seat as Liam let out a loud groan of pain. She hopped out of the bleachers and headed out onto the field, Mason following close behind her. Scott and Stiles were standing over Liam, who was laying uncomfortably with his leg at an awkward angle.

"Don't touch him!" Coach shouted, shoving his way through the crowd of boys around Liam. Sydney scooted towards Scott, who was staring at the freshman with wide eyes.

"What the hell did you do?"

"I-" Scott seemed lost for words, a mixture of fear and panic radiating off of him in waves.

"It's alright, Coach," Liam insisted, pushing himself into a sitting position. "I'm fine."

Sydney couldn't help but admire his determination. She could practically feel the pain Liam was witnessing and she flinched as Liam let out another cry of pain. He stared her in the eye firmly for a moment, almost as if he were willing for her to do something. She shuffled her feet, unsure of what to do as Scott and Stiles helped Liam to his feet.

"I think it's my leg." The boy groaned in pain again, tearing his gaze from Sydney and looking over at Coach.

"I think we'd better get him to the nurse," Stiles said nervously, shifting uncomfortably under Liam's weight. Coach nodded and motioned towards the school. Sydney scratched the back of her neck before running over to the benches, grabbing Stiles's bag and his keys before hurrying to catch up with her friends and the injured boy as they headed off the field.
