Once we finished eating, I packed our bag while Alex was on call with a client before we head out. I was in the kitchen cleaning up and closing the lights when I felt his presence behind me
"Yes Xan" I ask without turning around
"How did you know I was here?" He asks
"I can feel you babe, are you ready?" I ask
"Yeah, I got our stuff loaded in the car and even your candy" I giggle turning around
"Seems like you like candy more than me" he comments picking me up in one arm
"Hey don't disrespect my husband like that, I love him a little tiny bit more than candy and novels"
"Right, well thank you" he says chuckling placing me in the seat
He kissed my head and shut my door, getting in the drivers seat. He got buckled up and wrapped his arm around mine before he started driving.
It was a couple hours on the highway and the whole ride Alex was thinking, I know because there were times he would squeeze my arm tight before letting go and breathing. It was like he was going through that memory or whatever Ma was talking about
In the last two to three hours, he would slow down a little and then pick up the speed again, it was starting to worry me more when his face became place at a red light as we got into the city the resort was located
"Alex, babe did you want to pull over for a few minutes?" I ask seeing how pale he was getting
"Mhm no" he replies
"Are you sure?" I ask running my hand up and down his arm
"Can't you shut up, I can't think when you talk so much like fuck" he yells pulling his arm away from me
"I apologize" I whisper
There were no more words exchanged within us, he didn't say a single thing and I know he was dealing with a lot so let him be. We got to the resort and I grabbed the keys from reception walking to our resort.
Alex placed the luggage in the corner and left the room. I take a huge breath trying to figure out how to deal with this, I don't want him upset and I know he needs his time.
"Hey girl, you are here" lily says coming in the room since Alex left the door open
"Hey, how are you? Tell me there is a guy behind that glow" I tease
"Oh shut up" she says turning redder
"Ohh yes there is"
"Fine, I mhm I have someone here with me. His name is Ed. He is so sweet and nerdy" she chirps
"I would love to meet him" I say
"You will at the pool party tonight" she says chuckling
"Pool party?" I ask
"Yes pool party in an hour or so"
"Girl its"
"Shhh put on your best bikini and make sure its sexy because I am hoping Emma loses all her fucking shit seeing you"I laugh hearing her
Lily has been such a better friend than Emma, she is considerate and sweet and even understandable.
"Should I put on some see through bathing suit?" I ask
"Yes, some coochie action and show those perky tits" she says smacking my butt
"Hey, hands to yourself. This belongs to only one person" I tease her
"Oh we both know it belongs to mr Alexander Scott, speaking of, where is her?" she says kissing my cheek
"It does, and he jsut had to take a call so he is outside somewhere"
"okay, well ill see you two by the pool in a couple hours"
"sounds good, ill see you there" I say kissing her cheek
once she leaves, I grab my phone and call Alex but he doesn't pick up making me worry more. I call him again but this time I locate his phone on the bed under his jacket frustrating me
I grab the keys and lock the door behind me, as I walk out to see if he was in the car but the car wasn't there so he was driving somewhere. Sighing I walk back to our room and sit on the bed
An hour goes by and there was no sign of Alex but my heart says he is okay even though my heart was pounding out of my chest as negative things started flowing in but I was trying hard not to let it affect me
I grab a baby pink bikini from my bag and some swim trunks for Alex placing it on the bed. it was 8 in the evening and my nerves were getting worse now, it's been 3 hours since Xan left and now im full on about to have a mental breakdown
To distract myself I start getting ready for the pool party, I had done my hair and put on some tinted bb cream and some waterproof mascara. I wasn't in the mood but I knew lily put a lot of effort into it so I wasn't going to let her down
I sat on the bed in my shorts and t shirt trying not to cry as the sun starts setting and still no sign of Alex, but then I hear the door knob turn and a second alter Alex walks inside
I run up to him falling in his chest, he wraps his arms around me picking me up, I wrap my legs around his hips, as I breath through it, his scent was calming me down.
"Are you okay?" I ask
"Im fine, I am going to change and head to sleep" he says as he rubs my back
"Xan"
"Allison, I'm okay. I am just tired, we didn't sleep much last night and I think I just need to rest before we go have some fun tom" he said
He isn't wrong about us not getting enough sleep, but he slept more than me and I can see how he isn't himself right now. Instead of talking to me, he is keeping it inside
I unwrap my legs as I slid down standing on my feel as I look at him, his eyes swollen, he cried but why?
"Alex did you cry?" I ask caressing his cheeks
"No, no I didn't. Im going to change" he says pulling away
"Mhm lily has planned a pool party and I know you aren't feeling well so I will just go say hi and mingle for a bi and come back"
"Don't worry about me, go have fun" he said going to the bathroom to change
I sigh as I sit on the bed, it hurts that he doesn't want to talk, instead he pulls away
I grab my bikini from the bed and change into it putting on a t shirt of Xan's over it covering me like a dress.
"Have fun" he said coming out of the bathroom in sweats
He sits on the bed searching for his phone, I grab it from the table and hand it to him standing in front of him
"You know you can talk to me right?" I ask
"I know"
"Then why wouldn't you just talk to me"
"Because I don't want to, I want to keep it to me and I'm allowed to do that Allison, I don't have to share everything to you. Im sure you will have fun with your friends" he says
"Fine Alex" I snap a little
"Don't snap at me, I'm just saying I need rest"
"Im not snapping at you for being tried. You know damn well I will stay here with you and I want to but you are pushing me away Alex"
"Im not trying to" he whispers
I sigh squatting in between his legs looking at him
"Can I bring you anything to eat?" I ask
"No, im not hungry. I just want to sleep" he says
"Okay, come on lay down" I say
He laid down on his side closing his eyes, my heart sinks a bit seeing him the way he is hurting. I sit beside him caressing his hair for a while, once I felt him a sleep, I got up and covered him with the blanket.
I grabbed some water bottles and place them by the bed along with his phone. I turn the lights off and walk to the pool. I didn't want to but I was going to just let lily know that I won't stay too long
